I really wanted to give these guys a glowing review. I did so much research on moving companies and read so many horrible reviews about them that these reviews and the A+ BBB rating had me feeling good. Maybe it's because it was a cross-country move and most reviews are for local. Let me start off by saying that they were not bad, they just weren't that good either. The price was good and everyone was very friendly, but communication was really bad and they barley met the higher limit of delivering our stuff, which was 21 business days from first date available, that's a full month. But most companies gave me the same time frame. We moved near the end of December (12/20 pickup) which I understand with the holidays could slow things down. We drove across the country making a few stops and arrived in San Diego on 12/29, so 12/30 was our first available date. I had originally asked if we would have to worry about our stuff being delivered after 1/25 since on the 26th we were going to San Antonio for the weekend and was told it shouldn't be a problem. After about two weeks, maybe 1/11 I hadn't heard anything (call or e-mail) so I called to get an update and was told our stuff hadn't left Alexandria yet. But not to worry as it should be on a truck Monday (1/15) and I'd get an update when it was on the road. On Tuesday I hadn't heard anything so I called again. I was told it was being loaded today and they would e-mail me the name and phone number of the driver. I never got an e-mail or call from Global. On Wednesday (1/17) the driver called me and said he would be there late next week. I told him that I wouldn't be available Friday (1/26) or that weekend. He said they should get there by Thursday and would call me at least 24hrs before. On Wednesday (1/24) around noon I hadn't heard anything and called the driver. He said the truck broke down and they weren't sure how long they'd be. I let him know again that I wouldn't be available 1/26-28 but would be back on 1/29 and available all week. He said OK and he'd give me a call at least 24hrs before. On Sunday (1/28) around 11am he called saying he'd be there at 6pm. I said tomorrow, Monday? He said no, tonight. I said I'm waiting for a flight in San Antonio and won't be home until around 11pm. He said he could come Monday morning at 6am. He showed up around 7am Monday (1/29). There were a couple damaged items, all that they wrapped. I wasn't too upset because I don't think that maybe 2% damage of a 3BR house moving 2,700mi. is too bad. Though every glass item I was required to wrap was fine. The price was good, I did get my stuff mostly all intact, and it was within the time frame I was quoted, though that was really long. But mostly for the really bad communication I wouldn't use this company again. From the other reviews I would have to assume their local moving were you don't need to communicate as much is much better. But for long-distance I'd look somewhere else. Though it'll probably cost you. My sister said her 5BR move (from Baltimore to Denver) cost her a little more than double what I paid, but was easy without issues. Evgeny was so professional. I got many quotes and bids. He is the only one that came out to my house and met with me. He took an inventory so he could give me the best and most accurate estimate. I told him my concerns and issues with the move he came up with a couple of options which we went with and I am SO glad we did. He is VERY busy man but this was all OK since he always called me back and he explained how things were going to well so that I understood. There was no guessing at all. His moving team was money! They were professional. Nick runs his team and explained his process and answered all my questions. He also wanted to make sure they they were all on the same page with me. We had to go to storage for a month and made me feel so comfortable. The team was so good that we requested them for the unload. In fact we moved days around for them. GMS is so flexible and making sure they can get it right by doing you right. A little but of advice... Have EVERYTHING ready when they get there. They move fast and work VERY hard but if you are not ready you will slow them down. This in the end will cost you money. I'd like to start off by saying that the two gentleman that completed our move were very professional, cared for our belongings and did an overall excellent job from beginning to end. I got into contact with Global Moving Systems after submitting a request for quotes through Yelp about a month ago and spoke with the owner via e-mail before submitting my request to move later that same day. I was contacted by one of their reps to obtain a COI and asked if the size of the truck would be within the guidelines required by my building's loading dock. The representative confirmed multiple times that the truck would be under the clearance of the required height so that the gate to the loading dock could be closed/locked in order to maintain security of the property through key fob access. The truck that was confirmed was a 16' box truck with a 10' clearance; however, the truck that was dispatched was a ~24' truck with a 13' clearance. The truck was so large that it had to park illegally in the alley way and the gate to our building was not closed in order to maintain security of the building. This caused quite a ruckus with our building move coordinator and then us as the current tenants because of the Rules and Regulations set forth by the HOA. Fines of up to $1,000 can be imposed for illegal moves and moves can be cancelled, forfeiting a hefty security deposit and move fee and requiring both to be paid again to re-reserve the loading dock. Luckily, we were able to complete our move, but it took much longer than expected due to the distance between the unit, loading dock and the truck that was parked away from the building. Also, because there were two movers, there had to be someone (myself or my husband) standing outside during the entire move out to make sure our belongings were safe. This would not have happened if the truck was in the loading dock. My issue was with the owner. Immediately upon seeing that the truck was way too large, I contacted Global to discuss the impact that this would have. I advised of the fines and potential fines the truck would get for being parked illegally as well as my disdain for being advised incorrectly, multiple times, that the truck was of the correct size. The owner told me that he would waive any additional moving costs outside of the minimum amount of hours and pay any fines incurred as a result. When I sent an e-mail to Global to receive something back in writing that this was agreed upon, the owner called me directly and denied that he agreed to paying the fines (if they were to be imposed). The e-mail I received back from Global did not address my concerns and further impacted the move. The owner told me that the move should be cancelled, truck unloaded and then they would bring back another truck that would work. The problem is, we already almost completed the move illegally, so the fines would be incurred regardless. I found the owner to be slightly argumentative and it further made me upset because I was already stressed out from the issues and the fact that it was our moving day. The owner called the movers, which then made it sort of awkward and stressful between them and us because the owner was unhappy. He should have just kept the conversation between us and then called once the move was completed to avoid any issues. Upon completion of the services, we went to pay and were advised that "we would have needed to make two trips anyway, so the price would remain at the rate and hours used." Peeved at what I had been told before vs. now was not acceptable to me. In order to avoid an argument, I agreed to pay the amount on the bill - but I'm not so sure that I can trust Global in the future. I can trust that the movers will do a great job, but I don't have the confidence in the owner to keep me coming back for any additional moves. Telling me that I would have had to take multiple trips between homes to move and then "we didn't charge you for packing/boxes/etc." was not a way to make me happy - nor were we ever asked if we wanted them to pack any loose items.. We could have come back during the scheduled cleaning to grab any loose ends ourselves. read more

I used Global Moving System's services on March 12th. I was very pleased with the service I received. The two movers were very professional and the moving process was fairly quick; despite moving from the fourth floor of a building that had no elevator. The movers were kind enough to make sure my glass table top got transported safely by waiving the fee for the protective glass cover. I had to pay $500 to reserve the elevator in my building; just in case it got damaged during the move. After the move, the staff in the building inspected the elevator and returned my $500 since there was no damage. I analyzed the prices for 9 different movers in the DMV area and Global Moving System had the best price. I am glad that the great price came with excellent service. read more

Amazing!! I was extremely nervous about using a moving company. I've been burned in the past. But I had large pieces of furniture that needed a professional. Thanks for global moving company. The communication over yelp msg and over the phone was amazing, the movers were 30min early and Jacob and his friend did a good job. All our experiences with them have been great. They are professional, attentive to detail and upfront about the cost. They always handle our furniture very carefully. Had the pleasure of working with Mikhail and Isaac moving all of my stuff from condo to condo. They were extremely thoughtful and considerate in moving all of my stuff - large and small. I was very impressed with the way they handled my Tempurpedic bed set - which is a beast. I highly recommend global moving systems. We just moved to Woodbridge from Miami. Our stuff was on a ABF trailer and we moved into a condo with very strict move in times and rules. First, I'll say Global did a great job moving our furniture- they were fast and took care to make sure our walls and furniture were kept in the best condition. If you are looking for good, cheap and fast, these guys are great and probably worth the small frustration I dealt with. GMS failed on communication. I was told by Stefan that every 30 min after the 2nd hour was prorated. When it was time to pay, the moving team told us they do not prorate unless the customer is unhappy. If you forward with these people make sure you have everything in writing because it was incredibly uncomfortable arguing over the payment at the end of the move. I had to show the mover my Yelp message with Stefan because he made me feel like I was trying to undercut the bill. Ultimately, he took a screen shot of the message and will be following up with the guys at the office. I will as well. Another botch in communication was speaking with the woman, Hannah. Stefan told me I could check in periodically day of and they would reach out to the movers and give us an ETA (when you book, they give you a 3 hour window when the movers are coming like 1-4pm). When I asked Hannah for an update, she would only tell me the window, until I told her to call the foreman and give us the updated ETA like Stefan promised. I'm not sure if she's full time, but it felt like I was talking to an intern. read more

Alex and his team helped us with moving on Aug 4th. It took 4.5 hours moving from Silver Spring to Herndon for a 2 Bedroom Apartment. They carefully packed all the furniture with their blanket, and disassembly the furniture and re-assembly the furniture for us. It was a great experience for me. read more

Andrew, Alfred, and Valdamir were just what we needed, actually way more! They showed up on time, wrapped everything with moving blankets and at least six roles of tape (maybe more), handled every item with care, managed the tight turns, dealt with our dogs barking, and placed everything with precision. Moved out and moved in within less than 2 hours and 100% worth the hour minimum. Andrew especially went out of his way. I noticed one of the legs for the bed frame was missing (my fault for not keeping it altogether when I disassembled it) and called him. Amazing service - efficient, on time, and affordable. We moved a 1.5 bedroom apartment from DC to a single-detached house in Virginia about a 30 min drive away in about 4 hours. Rush and his crew are super experienced. They packed the furniture carefully but moved quickly, even though they charge by the hour. They also helped us dismount our large but delicate 65" screen TV, as well as dissemble a complicated L shaped desk. We were nervous about the move, but Rush really made us feel at ease. We hired Global for our apartment move based on the hourly rate and lots of great reviews on Yelp - it was well worth it. Jose and Garrick arrived within the 2 hour window they gave us and had all of our furniture, boxes, and everything moved out of the apartment, down a flight of stairs and packed into the truck within 2 hours. They supplied blankets for furniture, tape, and shrinkwrap for the couch. Global was also happy to stop at our storage unit along the way to swap out a few pieces of furniture. The unloading at the new apartment was really quick and the guys were thoughtful to ask where each box went in the new place. Definitely recommend - very pleased with Global! read more

Came right on time, were quick with loading our stuff and wrapping all our vulnerable furniture, and really careful loading and unloading into our houses, no scratches or dents as far as I could see! I was able to coordinate a move with them only six days out from my move date. They were incredibly helpful both through email correspondence and over the phone. The move itself was uneventful, which is the best way a move can be. The two guys were efficient and were very careful with all of my furniture. They wrapped everything in furniture padding which was an unexpected plus. They dismantled my bedframe and reassembled it at my new place with no issues. Nothing was broken, scratched, or dented. extremely disappointed in the move. i paid almost $10k to move around the state for full packing service. over $1k for a full packing service alone that was extremely sloppy. they pack very badly, doesn't fill the box properly , so much empty spaces, tossed all my toiletries, bathroom products out, my sofa was full of black stains, it wasn't cling wrapped, more than 20 furniture and items are broken. they arrived not on the days as agreed and so much chaos. payment by credit card costs 6%. in the end, it cost me much more than bigger reliable company. their insurance also costs more than other company. i read good reviews from them and thought it would be ok, it wasn't my experience sadly. smooth talker, does not deliver. read more

This was the most seamless moving experience I have ever had! Stefan accommodated me at the very last minute (I called on a Thursday and Moved on the following Saturday) and was incredibly helpful. The moving team was so fast, nothing was even dinged, and they even helped me pack a box of things at the last minute! On top of that they were so sweet and wonderful to chat with. I used Global Moving Systems for my move from old town Alexandria to Washington DC yesterday. David and Garik were great! They were polite and efficient and spent their time carefully but quickly moving me out of the old house and into the new. I have an adjustable bed that I thought would be a real challenge for them. They had it apart in minutes and put it back together perfectly. I can't say enough about how happy I am with this experience. One tip for other movers... materials you may have to pay for includes the masking tape that is used throughout the move. Inexpensive but unexpected. I paid extra ($15) for a mattress cover. I emailed Global Moving Systems for a quote through Yelp and based on Yelp reviews. Of all the companies I contacted, I picked them because of their fast response time and since their quote meticulously laid out each possible fee so nothing would be a surprise. I ended up moving on one of the busiest moving days of the year (last day of April) and unfortunately the truck assigned to me was having mechanical issues. It could have been a horrible experience and some movers would have canceled on me at the last minute, but Evgeny tracked down an available rental truck and made sure that his guys moved all my stuff super fast so that everything still finished on time with no extra fees. One piece of furniture was scuffed in the move (nothing major), but they brought it to my attention and reduced the moving charges to compensate for the damage. Moving day is always chaotic, but Evgeny did everything in his power to make sure that the job got done right and on time. I really appreciated that. Highly recommended. read more

Top Notch!!! Local Move from Woodbridge VA to Clinton MD. My movers were Vadim, Aziz and Rafa. They were prompt and early from the start. I was moving from a 1900 sqft condo with three flights of stairs. The team packed up all my household goods and disassembled furniture without damage. The only hiccup was that I had an additional stop scheduled for pickup to a storage unit but was unable to complete same day due to the truck being packed to capacity. The team moved my belongings to the new house, reassembled my furniture and scheduled to pick up and deliver my other items from the storage unit the next day at no extra charge.
