I previously heard of Glazed Over Donuts, but being from the city, I wasn't exactly sure if it was worth making the hour plus drive just for some unneeded calories. So, when I had the opportunity to attend a lunch event a few blocks away, it was the perfect opportunity to get Glazed. The Donuts are well known therefore the shop has a good amount of consistent foot traffic. The regulars know the process and for first time visitors it isn't to hard to catch on. Grab a clipboard and pick a glaze, topping and a drizzle, the options are endless. You pay for your creation (very reasonably priced) and while you wait you can watch your creation come to life. They offer a seasonal glaze along with their regulars and a Donut of the Day. You also have the option to let you creativity run wild. Friendly and efficient staff, who keep the line moving and the shop clean. Tables and window seating available if you can't wait to dig-in or if you want grab and go they neatly box up your treats for easy transport. Great local shop and a must try when ever in the area. The menu is a spreadsheet and the only donut on display is the day's special and it's not displayed prominently on the counter, like you'd expect. (Duck Donuts has a similar made-to-order menu and it is very intuitive -- this one is not.) The ordering experience also seems to usually start with, "Have you been here before?" which sets a negative tone for the rest of the process. If you have to ask that question, your process is too complicated -- we're just ordering donuts, after all. There also seems the be a problem with the names assigned to orders. I repeatedly heard, "order for no name!" while waiting for my order. My order was either one of those "nameless" orders that someone else mistakenly took or was just forgotten. I stood around for 20 minutes before I had to ask what the status of my order was and then I was given a donut within a minute -- sans apology. The donut itself (daily special; caramel, sea salt, peanut butter cups) was good, albeit very messy. They could also desperately use a second bathroom or a hand washing station. I really wanted to like this place and they have some fun, branched merch and activities for customers to do while waiting (e.g. sign the blowup donut) but I'm probably not going back. read more

I do make it a point to come here whenever I can and always tell people about this place because it's just so darn good. They're incredible and you can choose your own toppings and watch them be made right in front of you! Love this concept, the store was a beautiful space, and my custom donut turned out great! I like fruity flavored pastries, so I went for the lemon glaze/raspberry drizzle/fruity pebbles. First time ever in Beacon and this place made it all worth it! We came here for a friend's birthday to pick up some donuts and apparently word has gotten out about its excellence. The line was going out the door! Turns out they were only letting so many people in at a time so people were lined up outside. We finally got to try "glazed by donuts". When we walked in I was very impressed on the decor and how clean it was. The staff greeted us and was very attentative. I like the concept of limiting to one choice from each category so you could actually taste the ingredients. It's spacious inside for standing, assuming folks need room to ponder about what combination they want before they get in line to order. The seats and table were scarce here since family tends to take up tables and hang for a while but they do have additional seating outside as well. On the other side, you actually get to see how they add the toppings behind the glass but you're also right next to the bathroom so it a bit weird if you're lingering around for a while. Honey Glazed, Fruity Pebbles, Marshmallow Drizzle Donut- I didn't feel like going crazy with these picks, so I kept the normal glaze, can't go wrong with fruity pebbles and kick up the sweetness level by a notch with the marshmallow drizzle. Gooey and delicious. Lemon Glazed, Sprinkles, Vanilla Drizzle Donut- My companion picked this one. The lemon glaze was not tart at all, sugary and was dressed with colorful jimmies and more sugary drizzle. I'll stick with my donut. Overall Service: Cheery folks serving some yummy donuts. The cutest spot, the nicest workers, and the greatest idea! How boring to go somewhere and choose from their pre-made donut selection when you can come HERE and make your very own! I was pleasantly surprised how absolutely delicious the donuts in general were and nice and fresh from the oven (frier?) The topping/glaze options are abundant and changing with the seasons. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was one of my donuts was supposed to have peanut butter on it and they accidentally used Nutella .. not a huge deal, unless you are allergic to Nutella like I am! Stopped in here on a whim (around the start of summer) to bring home fresh donuts for my nieces. I love the idea of making my own flavor combos but it can get intimidating. I think there are 100s of combos between the drizzle, topping and glaze, so I tried the best I could with my imagination . However, they do have a flavor of the day in rotation, which from what I've seen, are pretty creative. Anyway, I brought these to my sis in law and nieces, and all were enjoyed. Fast forward to today when I bought another 8 - glazed with salted caramel drizzle and crushed pretzels, hazelnut chocolate with almonds, chocolate with crushed Oreos, peanut butter with bacon, two hazelnut chocolate (for the Nutella lover), and two of their special of the day, blueberry glaze with lemon drizzle and granola. I think they're a bit pricey but that's what we get for fresh items that are made in-house and also assembled right in front of you (behind glass of course). I do wish they had a "recommended" flavor combo list for those of us who aren't as crafty. Either way, I'll continue to buy donuts here when I'm Beacon. read more
