Gaucho Beach has become one of my favorite spots for breakfast or brunch or really anytime. It is located in downtown long beach. Parking entrance off of Shoreline drive at Ocean ave. Must Pay for parking using the passport park app. The restaurant is an open air concept, right on the boardwalk with views of the shoreline, The Marina, the Queen Mary, and the old Spruce Goose dome. The fairly large space has a beautiful modern tropical vibe and is popping with positive energy and great music. The music is loud which adds to the ambiance. There is a roof top lounge that opens around noon and is available both for food and drinks. The menu is simple but tastefully designed with something for everyone. They also have a bar and a great drinks menu. The service is excellent. Gio, the chef himself delivered the food to our table while doing some personal dance moves and introduced himself. Really fun! Both people in my party had the Lobster omelette. The eggs were fluffy and as light as air. The Lobster and the aioli sauce were a great compliment. Even the Greek side salad was so tasty. For Dessert, my cousin and i shared the Flan which was light with a distinct caramel taste but not too sweet. We kept watching the servers passing by with one beautiful dish after another. Overall great experience!!! We will be back for sure to hang out on the roof top and order some more delicious food. I highly recommend Gaucho Beach. read more

I was looking forward to trying this spot after reading such raving reviews. After going, I was quite disappointed. My party was seated inside on the upper deck, it was quite loud and it was hard to hear any conversation. The waiter greeted us and asked to take our order, in which some members needed a minute to decide. Instead of returning, he proceeded to read his cell phone every time there was a slight pause in ordering. I've never seen this ever by any waitstaff, quite unprofessional. He barely returned to check in on us after that. I ordered the smoked salmon appetizer which was terrible quality, some pieces looked and tasted like it was stale or sat out. The corners of the fish was even hardened. Food was on the higher price for the mediocre quality, and the service was slow and inattentive. Definitely, won't be going back. The customer service, and the ambiance to experience the cool indoors while being on the beautiful warm beach was everything I was hoping for today!! The Paloma was super tasty and beautifully made. Daniel, one of the main gentlemen, was super attentive, aware of my attendance, and kept my experience well enjoyed. Cleaning up after my messes, making sure my water was always topped off, and regularly making sure I had everything I needed. He ran the entire show!!! I watched him as he made sure drinks/food was ran on time and everyone had everything they needed. I brought my dog with me while he enjoyed a beef patty. The staff was kind to him and this was 10/10 experience!!! The security guard at the front of the hostess stand, Harrison, was professional and very accommodating for us. The Cuban sandwich was very good, and our waiter's service was okay. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short. Most of the staff came across as dismissive and uninterested. The biggest issue was the restrooms, which were filthy and clearly hadn't been cleaned all day. They were in unacceptable condition and honestly seemed like a potential health-code concern. We notified staff and were told "Yeah, we know -- we're working on it," but it was obvious no one had addressed the problem, and nothing improved during our visit. The food here is absolutely phenomenal -- a true 10/10. Every bite was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and worth coming back for. Unfortunately, the service is where things take a huge hit. We waited far too long for our meals to come out, and during that time, no one checked on our table. Even getting a drink refill felt like a challenge. It's a shame, because the kitchen clearly knows what they're doing, but the front-of-house service doesn't match the quality of the food. So I've been wanting to try this local spot for a while now. Took my wife and kids for a pre birthday lunch. The location is nice because it's on the beach but the food is straight Trash. We had to send our food back and we order something else and that was also gross. First thing we ordered was the chilaquiles that came out cold and did not taste good at all. Then we told the server and we ended up exchanging it for the lomo saltado that was disgusting seemed like a soup in Bbq sauce. Weirdest lomo saltado I've ever seen. I'm here to do a quick review w/no photos because I was really IMPRESSED with this place. I am a First Timer here and I've seen this place before but never tried it, until today. My family and I was looking for a place to eat before taking a tour to Queen Mary and we decided for this spot. IT WAS GREAT!!! Food was DELICIOUS! Parking was not a problem, tight parking location with very nice beach view but always a stall to find. No wait, we sat immediately and we were greeted with service within a matter of 5 minutes. Ordered simple food: Gaucho Wings, Calamari, Burgers and our drinks. THESE came out in less than 15 minutes - that is not a long wait, considering it was a Saturday afternoon, too. Place was clean, to include restrooms. The beach view was BEAUTIFUL, and it helped that the day was super nice and sunny. I want to give a huge SHOUTOUT TO BIANCA. Service by Bianca was EXCELLENT! (and my apologies if her name is misspelled) She was incredibly attentive with providing customer service, checking in on us at the right times and making sure everything was ok. She even made sure to let us know when she was stepping away to ensure we weren't just abandoned and waiting for whomever would come around to check on us next. Last night 4 of us went to Gaucho's for a special dinner coordinated with Bulleit Whiskey/Bourbon! It was fantastic. The menu got a little out of order in the beginning but was no big deal. It was a 4 course menu with Gravlax; Scallops; Lamb Chops; and Flan. Each course was paired with a Bulleit drink. Gravlax & Bulleit 10 year; Scallops & Bulleit Sunset Cocktail; Lamb & an Old Fashioned; Flan & 10 year Rye. Carlos was the representative for Bulleit and did a great job recounting the history of Bulleit (been around since the 1830's) to its current day offerings. What an awesome seaside eatery with something for everyone. The vibe is so inviting and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our fish and chips were tasty, flaky and just the right amount. Empanadas are delicious and of the baked variety, the best variety, in my opinion. Lobster roll was great and beef milanesa sandwich, with a fried egg, of course, tips you off that this place adheres to its nod to Argentina. I came here two weekends ago and experienced some of the worst service I've ever encountered. I was sat at the bar and handed a menu by the hostess. No one at the bar acknowledged me, so I ordered food and a drink using the QR code. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I got up to pour myself some water since no one offered. A nice man (who seemed to be a regular) sat down next to me during that time and was immediately greeted and served by the staff -- which made the lack of attention toward me even more noticeable. After about 25 minutes, I stopped a passing waiter to ask about my food/drink. She was able to notify the kitchen and bar. a girl from the bar then came up to me to see my receipt and ask what drink i ordered (and no apology was offered??) I waited another 5 minutes then my food arrived and my drink followed shortly after. it was all mid and not worth the wait lol I understand restaurants can get busy, but this felt less like being short-staffed and more like simple inattentiveness. My mom and I visited Gaucho Beach today and arrived around 1:40 PM. Normally parking in this area is a nightmare, but since it was still early afternoon we found a spot easily. Unfortunately, that ended up being the highlight of the entire experience. My mother has difficulty walking, and the entrance from the parking area is quite a distance away. We came in through the patio and I asked one of the busboys if my mom could sit at one of the empty two-top tables while I checked in with the hostess. He said that was fine and that he would notify a server that we were there. After about four minutes with no greeting, we noticed the QR code on the table and decided to order through the link since we weren't sure if anyone was coming. We ordered a short rib empanada, skirt steak, and lomo saltado, along with a Coke and Diet Coke. About three minutes later, a server came by asking if we had ordered through the app and if we wanted water. I explained that we weren't sure how the system worked since no one had greeted us. He said it was no problem and that he would bring the order. He did bring water shortly after. A few minutes passed and we still hadn't received our sodas. My mom had a telemedicine appointment at 2:40, so I went to the bar to ask if we could convert the order to to-go since time was getting tight. The bar only had around six people sitting there. I spoke to someone who appeared to be the manager (the only person dressed differently). I also mentioned that we still hadn't received the sodas. He said no problem and poured them for me himself. At around 2:20 PM, the same busboy brought all of our food at once and told us they had run out of the short rib empanada, so he brought an al pastor empanada instead. Having worked in restaurants for years, I find it hard to understand how you run out of a product by early afternoon. And if it's unavailable, either remove it from the app or notify the guest before substituting something else. Because of my mom's appointment, I helped set up her phone and we decided to stay and eat. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing as the service. The lomo saltado was not a lomo saltado. I'm not sure if the chef has ever actually had one. It tasted like beef, tomatoes, and onions sautéed in Heinz 57 sauce. That's honestly the closest comparison I can make. The rice and fries were served separately--which I can somewhat appreciate so the fries don't get soggy--but they were already soggy anyway. The entrana my mom ordered was a bit rubbery, although the flavor was decent. My mom tried a small bite of the empanada and said it was okay. I took a larger bite and discovered the center was ice cold. I went back to the bar to let the manager know. Since we had already paid through the app, I wasn't sure how he would address it. He offered to bring a new one, but I declined and simply asked that it be removed from the bill. After struggling with the system for a bit, he eventually removed it and said he would still bring out a hot one "on the house." I went back outside to wait. Meanwhile my mom wanted to pack up her fries, but our server had disappeared. Standing right in front of the manager, the busboy, and another server, I walked over to the server station, grabbed a box and lid, and packed the fries myself. We left shortly after. What I find particularly ironic is that when you pay through the app, it prompts you to tip starting at 20%. Given the food and service we experienced, I felt like I should have been the one getting tipped. Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more
