Beautiful place with delicious food and great service. Our table took quite a while to get even with a reservation but that was our fault for not designating where we wanted to sit. It was our first time and we really wanted to sit in the main dining room, so we opted to wait. Since we waited forever for that location they ended up taking really good care of us once we were seated. We felt like dining royalty! Worth the wait! There is a bar at the reception area, so that is helpful! read more

Great place to dine! Tried so many of the dishes. Appetizers, salad, pastas, the Rib cap steak and ended with a dessert that was the best. The service top notch! Great experience and met Chef Funke. read more

Good food. Not sure I would go back because they couldn't modify their food. I asked for fish to be served separately from everything else (health issue, and can't do too much fat). Oh, well.... read more

The roof top bar. The ambiance. The amazing food. The great staff. Worth it? Hell yea! Thank you.

The food has always been great and the waitstaff are knowledgeable and passionate. On two different occasions I have had poor experiences with the hostess staff prior to being seated. read more

Everything was fantastic! From the staff, to the food, to the beautiful location everything was 5 stars. The ample staff worked incredibly well together with each one being knowledgeable, helpful and very prompt. Our main waitress was awesome and very comical. But the food was of course the main star of the evening. There were four of us so we were able to order a good amount of the menu and they were each soooo good. We started with the focaccia bread, the prawns in verde sauce (which is heavenly), and the squash blossoms. We then had the burrata with veggies and it too was outstanding. At this point I was giggling as I knew the pasta was going to be good and within moments one pasta dish after another came and they were all intergalacticly fantastic!!! The ragu was insanely delicious, the pesto made me do a little happy dance, and the orecchiette with spicy sauce was amazing as well. As if all that wasn't enough... we went ahead and ordered three desserts (the chocolate one was my favorite) but by this point we were all in a food coma and I cannot recall the specifics of each dessert just that they were all delightful. 100% would recommend read more

Wonderful ... Evan does it again!!! Diavola was outstanding. The agnolotti was incredible. Beautiful homemade pasta cooked to perfection. The linguine vongole was also outstanding. Great wine list with super helpful Somm. The staff was incredible. They anticipated my needs. Even overheard one of my guests telling me they had an allergy and the staff adjusted items before we notified them. Fantastic experience. I've been back twice. Special Kudos to the ownership and staff ... they really made sure we had a great experience .. sadly in sharp contrast to some other places I have visited recently. read more

Long overdue. Went opening week. Food was good, I liked it better than Mother Wolf. Wanted to go to the rooftop after dinner but it was so early on that they weren't open that late. Would def go back to the rooftop. read more

Evan Funke's new restaurant Funke (he's the chef behind Felix and Mother Wolf) on Little Santa Monica and Canon is a must-try! I went with gfs last night and we didn't have a reservation for the restaurant since it was booked well in advance, but the rooftop has seating for walk-ins with a sophisticated wine and cocktail menu as well as a small food menu. They just opened 3 weeks ago, so the restaurant part must be booked in advance unless you pop in on the early side to sit at the 2nd floor bar. The restaurant is 2 levels indoors with a 3rd floor outdoor rooftop lounge. We found seating right away at the rooftop lounge and shared delicious focaccia while my friends had wine and I enjoyed mocktails. The lounge has a more casual Southern Italian ambiance while the restaurant is a little more formal. I can't wait to try the restaurant! As far as dress code goes, don't dress like a slob or like you're going clubbing, business casual or casual chic is ideal - no sweatshirts or flip flops. The staff are still getting settled in, but everyone was very sweet and there wasn't a hint of snobbery, which I loved. There is a waiter on the rooftop named Bruce Lee (seriously), he and another waiter whose name I forgot (resembles a taller Ryan Gosling) waited on us and were both wonderful. Check it out! read more

Funke - Italian Near Me - Beverly Hills, California

Food and service were incredible. Staff were absolutely lovely. Who designed this place though? Fake candles? Faux marble tables? Please, don't cut corners with the fake candles. And get some bar stools. There are no seats at the bar. We stood for 15 minutes waiting for a table. Pasta was incredible. read more

Honestly...nothing special. Good food but nothing to wow over. We were a larger group so got to try a little bit of the most popular dishes. Of the pasta, the pesto was hands down the best. The others were kinda bland. Only tried the fungi pizza and it was very good. The waiter told us their steak is the best in the city so we ordered a 28oz. It was ok, but with Maestro's just down the street, not even the best on the block. When it came to dessert my goto is affogato but that's not an option here. What kinda Italian restaurant is this? Even when it's not on the menu a good Italian restaurant will make it for you. Not here. Big negative in my book. The drinks were good. A true 3.5 star. Would have gotten 4 if they had affogato. read more

Mostly amazing dishes . Lovely atmosphere and great service. Apple fennel salad: YUM so bright and delicious Stuffed blossoms: the best I've had so far!! Meatballs: pillowy delisciousness Artichokes: eh, not bad but nothing special Pasta alla gricia: I would pass on this one. Not a whole lot of flavor despite the guanciale Spinach Gnudi: my absolute favorite of the night read more

Evan Funke must have sold his soul to an Italian devil because this is the best Italian food I've had outside of Italy. Every single dish we had was incredible. My two favorites were the focaccia bread, oh my god this was perfect, and the Rigatoni. The restaurant was also stunning. We got there early to have a drink on the roof top bar, but that was closed for a private party, so that was a major bummer. I wish we knew that ahead of time since we drove over an hour. Also, shout out to our server Max who was absolutely delightful and super knowledgeable of the menu. Overall, a fantastic experience. read more

Funke - Cocktails are awesome. - Italian Near Me - Beverly Hills, California

Service was amazing. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. They really went above and beyond to make me feel special on my birthday. These really are Funke's greatest hits. Haven't had his fluffy focaccia bread in awhile but it lives up to the hype from my memory. It melts in your mouth! The pasta is unbelievable. We parked at the BH lot on Beverly and then walked to save some money on the valet. Can't wait to go back! read more

This place is great. The music in the background was blasting rap - amongst the foofy walking around. Nice touch. The place is huge. Rooftop bar is perfect for a drink. The first and second floor are both great for dinner. Can't really go wrong with any of the pasta dishes. Not even worth going through them all - can't go wrong. I will say, get the off menu arrabbiata pasta. The sauce is worth drinking. Cheers. read more

Probably more like a 3.75. Parts of this place are really top notch: the ambiance, service and rooftop bar. However, the food based on the price point is why my rating is the way it is. I've been here twice, and both times there was one dish that was truly outstanding. However, most others were just good. I expect better than that, especially for the pizzas and pastas. read more

Funke, Felix and Mother Wolf all seem the same to me, very similar menus and ambiance. The food is good but I do think it's overhyped, there's def better Italian out there that are less pretentious (Bestia being one of them). Prices are just overly inflated, and the bar attached is no different, beautiful but for $24+/drink, def felt robbed. read more

The entrance is on the main level and immediately the first thing you see is the glass workshop where the pasta is made seemingly all day (there's always someone there working!). The rooftop bar area has a lovely entrance with vines and lights arched over a good view of the surrounding area. There was a DJ and plenty of space to lounge - though upstairs has its own hostess stand and wait list so seating is not open. The bar is also beautiful with the whole thing made of a few giant (read: seemingly endless) slabs of rose quartz lit from the inside. The bottom level and rooftop are pretty loud and bright so if you're going out for a more intimate reason like a date or anniversary definitely ask for the mezzanine level which has a much better ambiance for that. Chef Funke was there for the entire time we were. Every interaction with hosts and waitstaff was flawless. All staff were attentive, courteous and offered great suggestions - one of which was gold: they suggested we try their seasonal salad and dessert. Both were beyond flavorful and light. We had the seasonal Dana Bianca shaved fennel and apple salad and their seasonal dessert , Meringata, was a silky pana cotta topped with a granita of Harry's berries strawberries and studded with the most adorable & perfectly flavored meringues I've ever had (I wonder if they used a little bit of vanilla or marshmallow extracts to flavor it?). The focaccia is delicious and we enjoyed the taste and texture of the Carciofi Artichokes. Most menu items can be adjusted to accommodate vegetarians but there is still plenty to eat that requires no modifications. I devoured my Trofie pesto pasta (apparently there are 120 pieces of pasta in each bowl and each piece takes 3 rolls to make... if you do the math it makes sense that someone is always making pasta in the workshop) and I want to try the Amalfitana pizza next time. I also shared a few slices of the Margherita pizza (it's excellent just like everything else - there was clearly no effort spared to make it). If you wish to take leftovers home, they will give you a tag with a number on it and you can present it to the host in exchange for your bag of food when you leave- how convenient since my eyes were bigger than my stomach! I have friends who have gone several times and they all say they have been consistently happy with their experiences here. This was my first time but I'll be back soon! read more

Loud, poorly trained staff running around the place. The food quality is good, cramped seating.

The hot new place in LA, it was hard to get a reservation at Funke, but in the end, well worth it, even though things were a bit uneven along the way. The pastas are great, the pizzas are very very good, but unfortuntely the drinks are a bit sad. That said, it's still a wonderful place, the ambiance is beautiful, and don't forget to visit the rooftop bar, you'll be glad you did, but only to look around; the drinks themselves are disappointing at best, more on that in a moment. So the Oricheetti was my favorite, although any of the pastas here are simply fantastic, served al dente, bursting with flavor and most have a nice kick to them. They are pricey, but this is the best place to get pasta in this town, or almost any other town, save possibly Rome. The Daviola pizza is the star here, but honestly, the mushroom pizza was pretty darned good, and I'm not much of a mushroom fan. The one downer here are the cocktails, and I have to tell you my Sicilia, while tasty, had about 1/4 the liquid that it should have had. Partly the ice cubes, while big and impressive, take up far too much space in the glass, and the cocktail itself was barely up to the halfway mark in what was already a too-small glass. Clearly whoever was mixing these did not have the end user in mind, it was literally a couple of sips and we're done, and that's just not what I expected, not just for a whopping $25 drink but also after the waiter declared this to be the equivalent of the perfect margarita. Also note they only carry one brand of beer, which, for a place like this is completely inadequate. The wines are mediocre, and they are served in these enormous goblets that may have come from the set of a Harry Potter movie. The service was a little strange, it seemed as if we had multiple servers, and it took a bit longer than normal to place and receive our orders. But all this can be aside, because if you come for the food you will not be disappointed, it is heavenly, as good an Italian meal you'll find on this side of the pond, and well worth the price. read more

Why is this place so popular? I don't get it. Was excited to try it. Walking in, the place has the ambience of a department store. Large, a bunch of floors, elevators, no charm. We tried a number of things. Beware of the $$items the waiters push (without telling you prices). "The champagne is otherworldly". The only thing otherworldly was the price. Our 2 glasses? $130. Want the truffles? Add caviar? 1 Crab cake: small, no lumps of crab, fishy. $45 Lemon pizza; ok. A sharp taste that lingered but not very lemony.. didn't see the point. ; Squash blossom; light, greasy, plopped on a plate on top of brown paper with grease spots all over. Nothing else, no presentation. Foccaccia, this was ok. Pasta pesto; pasta was undercooked and tough. Not Al dente. Undercooked and tough chewy. We didn't eat much of it. 310 without tip. And 4 percent added for their kitchen staff. They don't pay them? Ridiculous and chintzy. Charmless mediocre expensive food. Good grief. read more

Best service I've had in LA in years. I'm still raving about it. It made an already great dining experience OUTSTANDING and set a high standard for others to meet. I am a dessert lover and the Meringata blew me away. Unlike anything I had ever had and would go back again just for it. Like Mother Wolf, the space is beautiful, but not as loud and more modern. Definitely my favorite of the two. read more

Yummmm.. Who's who.. celebrity infested ! Great Service! Delicious Food .. Hard to get in! But worth the wait!

I am so grateful for the staff's diligence in helping me treat my visiting parents to a memorable evening. One of our party is harder of hearing in loud spaces (which this is), and they accommodated us with a corner table that really made all the difference. Our server Kedar charmed my mom with his light banter, and I especially appreciated how smoothly he handled the bill when I'd given advance warning that I wanted to pay. Food, excellent, but I really need to highlight the pineapple basil sorbetto. So well-balanced, so light and refreshing. My mom's eyes lit with joy on the first taste. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

Made us wait an hour with no appropriate manager apology or accommodation. We had a reservation and it was a birthday meal. Disrespect underlies the tone of this restaurant -- from the practice of not seating you until your "full party" is present, to having no comfortable place to wait, to posting a wine on the list that they've run out of, and then offering a substitute wine that is $70 more, to deep frying the squash blossoms in overused oil, to sloppily slobbering sauces on the pastas, to squeezing four into a table that would normally barely accommodate three. Things have definitely gone south here since the Chef's Table feature. read more

Everything from the food, to the service, to the ambiance was amazing. One of our all time favorite meals!

The hype is real, this restaurant is amazing. Chef and team deliver arguably the best Italian food on earth, respecting the tradition and with the utmost attention to ingredients and service. Sommelier Emmanuel guided us to a beautiful brunello. Tatum guided us through the menu. We were lucky enough to snag an order of the raviolis which were mind blowing. We had the fried zuchini flowers, pistachio pesto pasta, caccio e peppe and the steak. Just hard to put into words how much this place delivers. If you're lucky enough to snag a reservation do it. Showed up the night it opened off of a suggestion that it had a rooftop bar one could grab drinks at. Boy were they right! Walked right up & told them we were looking ti grab drinks and the staff directed us right upstairs. They have a great bar or table seating (it's first come, first serve). We ended up sitting at a table and the service was great! Cocktails were pretty good and the outdoor area/view is wonderful! Ideal place to go and grab drinks post work/before dinner, or after dinner! The service was very spot on and they are very willing to answer any question that you have. I definitely want to go back to have a meal there soon but I would recommend going to have drinks as well. read more
