Tried Fun Station today w some friends. This place is located at Manoa Market City on the top level next to Gina's BBQ. This place recently opened up at the end of 2021 and we've been excited to try it. We ordered curry fish balls, and the signature flying noodle and the beef flying noodle. There were 4 of us total and we thought the food was okay, the cool part was the presentation of the flying noodle. The signature and beef flying noodle was $15.95 and it was the coolest thing that the noodles are suspended in the air from a pole attached to the bowl so it looks like the noodles are flying/dangling from the chopsticks. This was the fun part of fun station! However I felt they gave too little ground pork and sauce for the amount of noodles in the signature noodles, this caused the dry noodles to clump together and made it harder to eat and bland. Too much noodle for too little sauce. The signature flying noodles reminded me of just regular mapo tofu w noodle. But all in all it's a good place to go if you wanna see something different w the flying noodle. Definitely a fun gimmick if you want a different type place to eat w friends. read more

Newly opened not long ago and small place when walking by. However inside was still had good space and was spacious. They had a lot on the menu and we ordered a lot of it. Missed some pictures. First I need to talk about the fried chicken wings, boy were these good. We could not get enough of them. Also the wings were nice sized and not the small little wings. They was so greatly fried and what a crunch but not dry on the inside. The way they marinated it was just super tasty and oh so moist. Everyone thought the same. The fried dumplings were not bad but had better. We really like the scallion soy noodles. So basic but it was very good. I personally though the presentation of the flying noodles were really cool. They curry fish ball was very tasty as well with a good amount of curry and spice. The pork belly rice in the wooden cast was very good as it was nice and tender and good flavoring. I think we tried most of the wooden rice dishes and all were pretty good. The steamed dumplings with the dipping sauce was pretty good which I believe are all made in house. A good mix of meats. In general the service was very good and food came fast. This would be a place that I would come back again when around and just good to come eat. read more

New Chinese noodle place so had to check it out. I think it took over the abalone place in market city right next to the donut shop. Called in our order and it was ready in 15 minutes. Inside is small but clean. It was empty when we went at 11:30 but also omicron is surging right now. Prices are a bit high for what it is - Approximately $15 per dish. Got the brisket noodles in soup - this was the best dish we got. Reminded me of the crowded noodle places in Hong Kong - protein, simple clear broth, choi sum, noodles and scallions. Soup flavor simple and clean flavor. Greens cooked well. The thin noodles were just on the soft side for my taste but not too too soggy. Would've preferred more bite to them. Had the beef flying noodles also. The noodles are an interesting shape, also cooked slight on the softer side for my taste. The sauce is salty and spicy and seemed very little for the amount of noodles but then realized it has enough flavor for it all. Last dish was braised pork with pickled mustard cabbage. They use pork belly which the hub liked bc he likes the fat. Me not so much. It's in a thin liquid that has a subtle five spice flavor. I can imagine it tastes nice with hot white rice. First time having funn at Fun Station. We had the original fun dish with the flying noodles. The sauce was very flavorful and had a strong umami taste. The noodles were just right: al dente and soaked up the sauce nicely. I had the beef brisket with regular noodles. You get a whole lot of brisket in a good broth with a hint of star anise. I like that it's not overpowering in any spice direction. It comes with pieces of romaine lettuce in the soup. While not traditional, the lettuce does help cool off the piping hot broth. The real star of the lunch was their chili sauce. It has a savory component to it, somewhat like dried scallops or dried shrimp, but not over the top fishy. It balances well with the heat of the chilies and was great to use as a dipping sauce for the funn and the brisket. Saw this on a tiktok post from a friend so I decided to visit for the gram. $$ This noodle place is on the pricer side and from my 2 visits the portion size can vary. Pretty much what I had so far. Read what you are interested in. -Crispy spare ribs, Tasted like the vinegar sauce you use when eating soup dumplings. For soup dumplings delicious for the ribs.. ill pass. The Texture was extremely nice tho. The outside had a small crust while the meat was tender but still containted a good firmness. The sauce that leaked on to the rice was kinda bleh. -Scallion Intestines, simple dish, eat it with the provided chili oil. Foulness will vary upon your visit. -Signature flying noodles, reason for visit, looks better than it tasted, worth the gram. Tasted like mabo tofu sauce with noodles. Wouldnt get again. -House beef noodle soup, So much potential. My first sip of the broth took me straight back to one my favorite beef noodle places in China. Idk if that place is any special its probably just a random hole in the wall but being able to taste that same flavor again was very nice. The reason why I said the dish had potential is that even tho the flavor is good the intensity of it was weak. Plus I wish they didn't add the romaine in it. They should either add choi sum, bok choi or nothing. Adding romaine to it screams CHEAP. I cant imagine taking my parents their and having them go OOHHHH ROMAINE SWEET ~ nope. Adding romaine makes it feel like a workers "Family Meal" or something you would do when eating at home. Idk how to explain it but its a big no from me. -Three mix bucket rice. Lots of rice, was expecting something similar to clay pot rice. I was terribly wrong and idk why I expected that. Adobo was the best thing, mince meat was my least favorite. if anybody knows a good clay pot rice place plzs lmk. -Beef chowfun. really nice, a little oily but ive had worse. Will get again. -Chicken wings. Nice crust. Cooked well. Nothing special Overal would not be my first choice, but would go if friends invited. Upon arrival: Pros: 1) lots of parking 2) staff at this restaurant do ask to see your COVID card before servicing you. They'll ask everyone in your party. 3) they got our water right away. Water tasted good. 4) our table, utensils, cups were clean. 5) servers were nice. 6) we ordered the Secret Beef Brisket w Look Fun noodle in Soup ($15.95) and the Scallion Minced Pork & Intenstine ($14.85). 7) I like the Secret Beef Brisket soup. Beef was so tender. But a bit on dry side. The Scallion Minced Pork & Intenstine.... the noodles was very good. But I had a hard time eating the Intenstine. To me, it had an after taste. But if you like intestine, this dish is for you. I didn't like it so much. But works definitely eat the noodles and minced pork in this dish by itself. 8) When I went to go pay at register, they were very nice. 9) you need to scan their QR code to get their menu or look at what's posted on their window. Menu is posted on the window. Cons: 1) see above my slight con review about the intenstine noodle dish review. That's just my opinion. Some of my friends liked it. 2) they do not bring you a tab when you're done eating. You walk up to cashier and just let them know what table and pay. Conclusion: I like this spot.
