Just finished a Dine Downtown dinner from Fork. That dinner was both superb and a terrific value! The starting course was a butternut squash with a balsamic glaze, crisp sage leaves and spicy pecans. Such an explosion of flavor! The entree, a nicely prepared portion of steelhead was served with a braised red cabbage slaw with a garlic creme sauce. The really interesting side was a generous portion of bamboo rice. I'd never had that so I looked it up. Turns out, it's truly special in that it's only available at certain times and in limited quantities. Dessert was a very nice lemon pot de creme topped with honey. Of course, everything is local where possible. Truth in review... .we also had the huli huli chicken from the regular menu. We had never had that and it was so good....a simple, roasted 1/2 chicken made special with a wonderful tropical sauce. It was served over mashed potatoes and had roasted baby carrots on the side. We dine at Fork regularly and this is not my 1st review. I think it speaks really well of the restaurant that they never allow the menu to become stale or commonplace. They regularly change out items, while keeping the faves. It's a lovely restaurant with a terrific staff. read more

WOWWOWWOW! This restaurant is amazing. We were accommodated without a reservation. Clint, the manager, could not have been more kind, professional and absolutely hospitable. The service was incredible, (ask for Kelly), the food is divine and the drinks are simply incredible. I had the Wedge Salad, Enchiladas, Butter Cake and two Three in the Chamber cocktails. I went here last Sunday for brunch and was amazed we had 0 wait & got to sit outside. Our waitress was so sweet to my daughter even though she was having a silly melt down. The food was fantastic. I cannot believe I've never reviewed Fork! It's a Boise staple which we've been eating at for years - I think my husband even took his prom date to Fork! They have the best asparagus fries on the planet, great salads, amazing burgers, steaks to die for, and every single side is better than the next! Got the brush-off here last night. We had gone to Cirque de Soleil and were happy that Fork is open late so that we could have dinner after the show. The host seated us promptly, but then. . . . . servers came to two tables next to us, glanced at us, but never greeted us or acknowledged that either was our server. After the initial glance, those servers then studiously avoided eye contact with us. We tried to get the attention of someone - anyone - to wait on us, to no avail. We decided, "Screw it!" and headed for the door. The bus boy was just coming with glasses of water, but too late. Bitter Creek was better anyway. read more

I came to Boise for work for a few weeks and came upon Fork through Yelp. Went here for dinner and couldn't have been happier. Shared a couple bottles of local Idaho wine that were delicious. The Beet salad was amazing. Had a steak for my main and it was perfect, then Ended with the warm butter cake which was one of the greatest desserts I've ever had. I loved it so much. We were here on business and stumbled upon Fork through Yelp. 100% would recommend to anyone who wants to get some high end (affordable) delicious food that is definitely worth coming back for! This restaurant was a high point of my trip to Boise. We were out on Thursday night and enjoying downtown. We did not have reservations but did find two seats at the bar. The must haves are the brussel sprouts and the asparagus. The queso was not what we're expected; I'd pass on that. The huckleberry vodka drinks did not disappoint however! read more

I've never had a good meal at Fork. Ever. I simply can't understand why people shower such effusive praise on this place. I've literally sent back everything I've ever ordered there - and I never do that. To their credit, the staff are always friendly and professional, but the food just isn't good. And I cook. Well, in fact. I know food. I mean, why would you cut a brussel sprout in half and then deep fry it to death? What kind of chef thinks this is a good idea? Under-seasoning, I can live with, but wince-inducing over-seasoning is just unacceptable. Seems to be a theme at Fork. I suppose it doesn't help that the decor conjures images of 1990's 3-star hotel. I'm not from the area but from what I heard, Fork is the go to place. Went in for lunch with my coworkers and were seated immediately. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Everything they use here are locally grown and support local farmers and what not. I got their asparagus fries which is a favorite here and their ahi poke tostada which were all very delicious. It's just a bit small for its price. Now for dessert, we decided to go with their famous butter cake. One is enough to feed four people in my opinion. It's very rich in flavor and comes with a raspberry syrup and vanilla ice cream. If you have a huge sweet tooth, definitely try it out! I'm so excited to see more people and new establishments come into town to give crappy Boise restaurants some competition so they can stop getting away with poor service and lousy food at high prices. I decided to give their new "Vegan Plate" a try last night and paid 16.75 for 4 sprigs of broccolini and asparagus served over soupy polenta/hummus???? I've tried several of their salads, appetizers, and burger and feel I gave Fork a fair shot. You want good "New American" food in this area go to Bittercreek or 10 Barrel. read more

Came here with the family while we visited the area. We had the brussel sprouts appetizer, very very good! Even the kids liked it. I had the rainbow trout which was very good too. Kids had spaghetti and meatballs and it filled them up. Wife had the short rib which she said was good but she has had better. Service was excellent, the waiter was very attentive to us. I was in town from DC for a good friends wedding. I can not RAVE enough about Fork, not only did they take a reservation for our large party (22) at the last minute on a Friday night, but our group was uber excited that cocktails were under $10 (Hey when you live in DC that's a thing). When we arrived 2 of our three tables were ready and only 3 of our party were there so we got cocktails from the bar. We all had various drinks throughout the night but a fan favorite by far was the Fork Lemonade (Trust me it was so good a few of us sucked them down like they didnt have alochol in them), as well as the vanilla old fashioned. The hostess sat the first part of our party and by the time the rest of our party arrived later on, the 3rd party occupying the other table we needed had left so it worked out perfectly. For appetizers part of our group ordered the tomato basil and grilled cheese fondue (OMG SO GOOD I will now be copying this at home!), Asparagus fries, and the glazed brussels sprouts. Many in our group are Brussels Sprouts aficionados and once again we had another hit on our hands! I had the Rainbow Trout for dinner and loved that as well. Our server (I did not catch her name) however the name on my receipt says Whip. Probably THE best service I have had EVER. Not only was she super friendly, provided fast service, AND asked our group if we wanted her to take a picture before anyone of us had to ask her, she took care of our group of 22 BY HERSELF!!!! Being from DC I expected my dinner and drinks to be about $120 I was pleseantly surprised by my $70 bill and left well over 20% tip for such awesome service. It has become our number one Christmas Eve dinner location in Boise....running 4 years in a row this year! We make our reservation early and have never been disappointed! The burger is solid (and the fries are really out of this world [credit to the Idaho potato]) but the signature salad with smoked salmon blew my mind. I got a half order and the burger but ended up wishing that I'd just got the whole order of the salad and maybe a side of fries (lord, those fries). Get that salad.
