Well. Imma just say this....after eating at the Hollywood location, I was very disappointed. That first FTW burger had me dancing in my seat...it was THAT GOOD. The patty was seasoned well and was much bigger than the bun it came on. The cheese was cheesin' 10/10. I was expecting that same feeling from the Van Nuys location. I was also excited because the parking sitch was also going to be better. Well, after about a 30+ minute wait...I was asked by someone else "is this wait usual?" I told them that it was new and from my first experience...it's well worth the wait. A minute later...my name was called. First off...I touched my bun and it was cool...it should have been at least warm..that was my first disappointment. As for a seasoned patty..not so much and I had to check to see if cheese was on my burger. I also ordered fries...they were overcooked, crunchy. I don't know what costs are being cut but there was definitely a difference in taste. Lastly, as for ambience...being busy and having a wait was expected but as a Black woman...and luckily my 10yo son wasn't with me...the choice in music playing was vulgar and offensive. Hearing b*tch and n!&&a, etc blasting while eating ain't cool...and there were small kids present too. I full well know creating a vibe can be done without all the vulgarness. I go wild for a great smashburger. Tried the OG location in the city years ago and was thrilled when they opened a valley location. I do have to say the city location was much better from memory but not sure if quality stayed the same now. Also remember the staff being much friendlier and overall more of a pleasant experience back then. Who knows, times have changed. Regardless, this is still a great smashburger. Been wanting to try FTW since they're only a couple miles from my house. Got the triple cheeseburger & fries. Service was solid. You order on a tablet. My food came out in like 5 min, maybe more but definitely under 10. Not much to be said here. Burger was overall very good. Meat tasted like good quality. Bun was soft but not so soft that it couldn't hold the burger together. The grilled onions provided a nice amount of sweetness. Would've loved some more pickles but not too bothered by it. I thought the sauce was just fine, not bad but nothing special. Not my favorite smash burger but still a very good burger. Fries were very forgettable. Not bad, they were nice & crispy (which I like!). But they lacked overall flavor and tasted under-salted. I probably wouldn't get them if I came back. First thing first, I am no professional food critic. Rather, I am one who grew up regulalry eating whatever fast food my dad would stop to pick up on his way home from work. Burgers and fries are in my wheelhouse, as well as pizza. As an L.A. native, when it comes to a burger above JIB's Ultimate Cheeseburger or Jumbo Jack, or Carls' Famous Star, it's hard to beat a Double Double (raw onion, no tomato), fries, and an Arnold Palmer. That shared, with the influx of boutique burger joints opening up, one name I kept hearing was FTW. When I realized they opened a location along my route home from work, I've been waiting to find a good day to stop in. Which was today. I start my grading scale from the top. Here's how the idea of leaving a five-star review became sharing this two-star review. $23 and change for a double cheeseburger, fries, and a can of Coke Zero. Twice the price of In n Out. One point off there. A can of coke and ketchup packets? As an adult, I know better than downing multiple refills of soda. But, the sugar I cut out by drinking lemonade iced tea, I make up through my ketchup addiction. At $23, i should have the option to make multiple trips to refill on drink and/or ketchup. Half a point off there. The food itself. The burger was alright. But, the double doesn't eat like a double. Both in the amount of meat as well as cheese. What's more, the fries were underwhelming at best. Think ordering a McDouble with slightly underdone fries. I didn't even finish the burger there. Got a to go bag for what was left. When I got home, my fiance gave the rest to my step-son. His review; "For the Mid." One point off there. The experience. When the homeless dude walking around the plaza would stop in front of the store every few minutes, he'd stare in watching the customers eat. Believe it or not, that wasn't the worst part. On my way to the location, I was hit by a premonition. I had a strong feeling I'd be helped by a less than enthusiastic team member. Like i should be grateful for being there. Sure enough, or sadly enough, that's precisely what I got. I definitely thought the cashier was the one doing me a favor. I don't know if the dude was at the end of a long hard shift, or a number of shifts? Or maybe he just doesn't understand basic customer service. Sundays are my Friday, I was at the end of my long hard week. I'd never treat my members the way I was treated. No greeting when it was my turn to order. No "thank you" as he watched me place a tip into the tip can, which had only a few coins at the bottom (go figure). When he called my name, as I picked up my order, once again, nothing. While I grabbed my tray, I purposely gave him a "thanks" of my own to see if that would send a spark. Nope.Not the case. Total disregard. One last bit to share. In the group before me, a customer pointed to a sign sharing a reward of a shake or fries by leaving a review. I didn't catch the beginning of the stipulations to receive the freebies. What I did catch was the cashier making it very clear to the customer that in order to collect, the review should be thoughtful and honest, and positive. I won't be returning to collect on the offer having shared this thoughtfully honest review. I'll stick to paying $12 to a friendly employee for tastier food. This meal was by no means a win. read more

The place smells amazing when I walk in! You get a free fries or shake when you leave a review. Add on bacon was $1.95 for 4 small slices. Taste like in n out so it's aight (might as well go to in n out) HOWEVER, the double double is actually good and juicy compare to the regular one patty. the cheese was good too! Chocolate shake is rlly rich and chocolatey And the strawberry shake is also very rich and delicious with lots of strawberry taste! Wanted to try this out if it was all hype or full of smoke. Got a triple cheeseburger, and I was not disappointed. I ordered an extra sauce to dip my fries into, and it was great. The burger tasted even better, putting the sauce on it before taking a bite. The sauce is more mustard-y that other sauces which complemented the burger well. It was a little greasy, so that maybe a little off-putting for some. It came out pipping hot just like the fries my buddy ordered. The plaza has limited parking but isn't that busy. The inside has room for maybe 15 people, so you may want to take it to go. It wasn't that busy around 3pm so we decided to eat there. read more

I ordered a cheeseburger. It was tasty. But it took About 6 bites to eat. It was a small patty and cheese and the small bread (unfortunately for me, I got a single so the patty was the same size as bun and not like the pictures I saw where the patty was huge) and grilled onions. I thought it was weird if i wanted tomatoes that was $0.50 and if I wanted lettuce then that was $0.50 also. I didn't get the "extras" but it was still $11 for the cheeseburger. I don't think I can go back because that was pretty expensive for me. I did not get the free fries for writing a review. I wanted to try the burger first. The hamburgers look delicious The sign outside of the building needs to be highlighted, it's hard to see because it's dark blue and the building is black. No fountain drinks, next time I'll bring my cup with ice. The hamburgers are tasting but I think they are a little overpriced. The sauce was good.
