I finally visited Beeps after passing by it countless times. We had eaten at the Simi Valley location before and enjoyed ourselves so we wanted to come and try the original. We're so glad we did. We got lucky that when we came for dinner the parking lot was empty. Within about 20 minutes it was completely full with people just double parked waiting for someone to leave. This is a place that I think would best serve being able to walk to or get things to go to enjoy elsewhere. However, if you were to not dine in, you wouldn't be able to experience the very friendly and helpful staff. They're all running around taking orders, prepping parts of meals, and calling out finished orders, yet they do it with such a seamless rhythm and ease. Even when they were in full blown dinner rush mode the moved with a calmness yet urgency that I wish other restaurant employees could study. The customer service was fantastic. the interior is small, but fun. It's got the feel of a 50s diner with a mural of classic Hollywood figures. Booths and tables are a bit small, but clean and look well maintained. In all, it's a great, inviting place to eat. The food was very good. It's your classic diner fair. Nothing special but they offer everything from breakfast to sandwiches to burgers and Mexican food. Breakfast is also served all day (except for waffles much to my kids' disappointment isn't served during dinner hours). My kids tried the cheeseburger and loved it. My youngest devoured his hot dog and I really enjoyed my Ruben sandwich (though I wish I could've had it on rye bread). Honestly, my only real complaint about the food was that the fries were somewhat bland and everything felt about a dollar or two too much. Though, I will admit that is just the state of restaurants these days. I am no knocking them for that, just pointing out that this isn't really going to be a cheap meal. A tasty & filling one for sure, but not cheap. In all, you can tell why Beeps has been around for decades. It knows what it is and does it well. What a big surprise! I was in the area replacing my windshield on my Range Rover and I was told it was going to take an hour. Since I'm not familiar with this area and I was hungry, I asked for a recommendation for a quick bite to eat, they suggested BEEPS FAST FOOD. I went there and the 1st thing I noticed was how crowded they were....that's a good sign. I ordered a hot pastrami and fries. The pastrami was super lean the way I like it and the fries were really good. They have a great menu and the people there were really nice. i would recommend this place to anyone in the area. The only downside is because they make their food fresh the wait is 20+ minutes so don't come here if you're in a rush. So I was waiting for sometime to take my order till I saw someone walk inside. The place has a Mel's diner vibe with a huge mural of old Hollywood celebrities and big tufted dining seats. It's not a big indoor dining area. I only knew that they had a patio with seating till today with the indoor dining room. Menu wise, it basically has everything. Breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, subs, salad. Your normal diner menu. Shakes and then there's Mexican food added to the menu. Odd duo but I guess it works as it's part of it. I ordered the club sandwich and an order of chili fries. It looked like everything was a La carte till the cashier asked if I wanted it with fries and a soda. Also, found out it was 4.99 extra to make it a combo. Anyway, chili fries was whatever. It was hot when I received it but a couple minutes later when I opened it, it looked sort of dried up. Nothing major to rave about it. But the club sandwich on the other hand. That i do recommend and would get it again. It was massive just one half of it. With added avocado, it was great. Turkey, ham, lettuce, nice chunks of tomatoes, cheese and three slice of bread. It was great out of the chili fries. Overall, it a place that if I'm craving junk food, I would stop by. I had a tasty cheeseburger special that comes with fries and a drink of your choice. I had to pay an additional fee for an extra patty on the cheeseburger since the special was a single patty. Service was average since I had to pick up at the register when it was ready. The atmosphere you are here for what we have, get the service food, then eat it, or take it and go out. This is a vintage valley gem with the best milkshakes in town - especially the butterscotch! I've been coming here since a kid in the 80s so it gives me nostalgic feels but it's also a classic burger joint with its neon lights and good 50s bebop tunes. The service is always friendly but expect a wait since food is made fresh and is pretty busy. But it's worth the wait! The quarter pound angus cheese burger is my staple here with crinkle cut fries and very creamy buttermilk ranch. Breakfast is also served all day so that's a score! My hubby and I come here any time we want inexpensive greasy "fun" food that isn't from a corporate spot like Denny's. While their food isn't the best food we've ever tasted, it hits the spot for breakfast burritos, fast pancakes, sandwiches and fries, and they give you a lot of food. The menu is large, and the staff is kind enough to offer subs for breakfast meats since we don't do red meat. We tend to order takeout, but there is indoor and outdoor seating. I like how the indoor seating area has glittery vintage booths and chairs and fun LED lighting in the ceiling. It can get pretty packed on weekend mornings. Parking is pretty limited, but there are street spots if you can find one since most of it is taken up by the apartment residents in the area. read more

I don't find myself in Van Nuys very often and when I do, I look to Yelp to find great places to eat and tonight I was craving a great pastrami burger and Yelp steered me to Beep's. First off, this place has an old skool 50's burger joint vibe to it. With the neon, 50's actors & singers on the wall inside set to 50's background music, the vibe was great. But better than the vibe, was the food - and prices! I got the Pastrami Burger ($7.69) which is a great tasting beef patty topped with grilled pastrami, lettuce, tomato, onion & pickle. I couldn't believe it was only $7.69 - but it was a nice big burger and tasted great! I got the meal deal which gives you fries and a drink for $4.59. I upgraded to onion rings for an additional $1.15 and the onion rings were great! On a side note, they charged me $.50 for a side of homemade ranch. My meal total before tip came out to $15.76 and I was definitely satisfied with the quality, taste and portion size. I'll definitely be back next time I find myself deep in the valley! read more

We've been going here for 40+ years (the longevity should speak for itself), and the place is "the bomb"! From simple to phenomenal, the food is delicious (breakfast, lunch, dinner). There's so much to choose from, simple to a bit more complex... Oh, and then milkshakes and malt are simply divine. Service is always friendly, knowledgeable and very proficient, even when they're swamped (problem is, you just never know when, lol). The feel of the joint is very much 1950's vibe. Heh! I've often driven past this place but usually I'm in a hurry so I never stop by to try them out, I must admit I had thought it was a hotdog place. A couple of nights ago I was looking for a burger place and this place popped up, I checked them out and saw that they have an extensive menu with reasonable prices so I decided to try them out. The place is nice and kept clean, it has a 50's diner vibe. The parking is on Woodly Ave. The servers were friendly and professional. Ordered the Western burger combo, the burger was juicy and delish and filling, the fries were crispy. Overall, excellent value for your money, I highly recommend this place. It was my first time here but won't be my last! It was poppin on a Friday night so I had to wait about 5 minutes for a table at around 5:45 (no big deal). Everyone was so sweet. I was waiting for my friends and they kept asking if I needed anything while I waited. The menu is HUGE and a tad overwhelming. I finally decided on a cheeseburger and my daughter got French toast with eggs. The food was good and so cheap! It was $15 for our meal (both items). The fries were good and crispy. The ranch was amazing. I want to come back and try other items since there are so many. They have a lot of tables and the service was excellent. After waiting outside at the window for over 10 minutes, I was told that I needed to go inside. If you no longer take orders or pickups at the outside window, there should be a clear sign posted to avoid wasting customers' time. Customer service should always be courteous and professional. There was no need for the rude and unpleasant attitude from a certain employee. This is not the first time I've experienced this issue. And this go to the short on the heavier set young lady . Hmmm where to start. Overall, horrible experience. Customer service was really bad. I came in because the food looked decent in photos. My husband and I came in on a date trying to spend time together and try a local spot , and well, that's where we messed up to start with. The place is small but as soon as we walked in, several dirty tables. Then we went to order food, and what we wanted order, they were trying to charge us to add bacon to the breakfast burrito which brought the price up to the burrito by almost 5 dollars. So I asked why can't we just pay the difference since we are taking out the sausage and the Manager proceeded to say that she can't do that because the computer won't allow her to which kind didn't make sense to me so a simple breakfast burrito ended up coming out $15. And then we got the food and we went to sit down. I asked to get a cup of water, and the girl was holding a cup of water by the rim of the cup while she had a rag on the other hand and the spray to clean the table. So in other words, she's holding the chemicals with her hands and a dirty rag, and also holding my cup of water by the rim where I have to put my mouth to drink. Obviously, because of this, I didn't even touch the water. The food was not good at all. It was very, very basic no taste really. Needless to say I will be going back. read more

I ordered ahead online and when I got to the window I waited about 8 min and not once was I acknowledged. I figured they were busy so I stepped inside and of course I waited another 10 min. The two workers were to busy talking and flirting with each other not once did I get acknowledged or told "we will be with you in just a second." So after waiting 10 minutes the guy nudged the girl and she looked over and came to take my order. I informed her it was a pick up order and of course my order was there the entire time. It was ok? Greasy diner food that is a bit overpriced for the final product. The deluxe breakfast was fine, nothing special. The home fries needed a bit more seasoning (we added garlic salt and some truffle hot sauce). The croissant sandwich was a lot of mayo, iceberg lettuce and tomato. Eggs inside were fine. Bacon was the best part. Cappuccino coffee is from one of those premade machines, so don't expect barista quality. Beeps is the classic retro spot I never knew existed. Open since 1956, this place is older than my parents. That says a lot. I'm sure the menu has changed over the years but the current menu has some good eats on it. My family's order consisted of a chicken tostada, pastrami sandwich and western bbq bacon cheese burger. Talk about variety. The burger was for me. I like a good western bacon style cheese burger. And this was a good one indeed. A big burger with a big onion ring, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles and lots of bbq sauce. It was salty, tangy, sweet. Just generally delicious. I got just the burger and skipped the fries. The burger was plenty for lunch. It was that big. The chicken tostada was also big. My aunt ordered that. She was impressed by how much chicken was in it. It looked good. I cannot speak to the taste as I did not try it myself. But my aunt liked it and that says a lot. The pastrami sandwich was for my grandma. She ate half and saved the other half for dinner. It looked good. A fair bit of pastrami that looked like mostly meat. Not too much fat which can be a concern. The sandwich was topped with pickles and mustard. It looked pretty good but, again, I did not try it myself so cannot speak to the taste. I am happy to have tried Beeps for the first time. I like these old places that have survived for so many decades. It helps that the food is good. Service on this visit was...fine. We were greeted when we walked in but we weren't quite ready to order. The lady who greeted us went to the back to prep some food. When we were ready to order we had to wait. And wait. And wait a little more. There were 4 people working on processing orders but no one to take our order for a couple of minutes. An added benefita is that Beeps plays the Doo Wop music I love to hear and which I grew up with in the 1950s.
