Been living next to this place for a while now and it's kind of hidden. Looked up the reviews and I thought hey people like the cheesesteak here. First off: The place is clean, but bland. And the lady working there was nice! Nothing against staff. My sub came to a total of 17 bucks with a drink. Not the worst. The Food: This is where I was absolutely "hopes down"about the place. It was not Good. Possibly one of the lower tier cheesesteaks I've had. Again I don't like bashing a company but dang I really wanted to like this place. It was full of onions and the meat was bland. Unfortunately I won't be coming back for cheesesteaks here again. I didn't want to give a 1 star because the place was clean and the lady was nice. read more

This place is a hole in the wall restaurant that offers a variety of food. Parking seems fairly easy and you can easily past this establishment if you didn't map it. The service was decent and the food was overall above average. The sandwich of course was the highlight being fresh and delicious. The fries were a bit soggy and not crispy. The sodas were a bit flat or tasted off. I would recommend just getting the sandwich or tell them to have the fries well done. read more

The woman at the counter took my order, and even though I was the only person there when I walked in, I got in right before lunch. The wait was about ten minutes and it was worth it... When the steak sandwich came out, I was impressed right away. It was big, hot, and loaded. The bread was toasted just right, giving it a crisp bite without being too hard. The steak was tender and juicy, cooked in a sauce that gave it a unique flavor and texture I have never had in a steak sandwich before. Honestly, it might be one of the best I have ever had. It came packed with lettuce, mushrooms, avocado, tomato, peppers, and all the right ingredients. Every bite had the perfect mix of big portion tender meat, fresh toppings, and crunchy bread Captain's Sub Shop feels like a hidden gem. It is small, not crowded, and probably not a place a lot of people know about. Those are usually the best places, and this one definitely was. If you claim that you are famous for your philly cheestakes know how to make them. I was driving by and saw the PHILY CHEESESTEAK banner by the road and decided to stop by. This is a small eatery that tries to please everyone with all types of food in the menu. Getting inside It smelled old and the air was stale. The table cover was sticky where I was sitting. The price of $12 was ok and the service was fast. What I got was not looking great. I ate one half and threw it in the trash can. Huge chunks of onions, doughy bread and the overall taste was mediocre at best. At 9am it was empty and the Yelp age was not claimed by the business which says a lot. Not recommended read more

The owner is so thoughtful, nice and polite. I just hate that they close so early and closed on weekends. Feast ur eyes on this beautiful picture. Simply a masterpiece!! Double meat and double cheese!! This Philly cheesesteak is soo delicious!! I was fortunate to be introduce to Captains by a couple of buddies from work. Even though it's a bummer that they close at 4 PM and closed on the weekends, we still make the effort after work to make it on certain Fridays before they close, and its well worth it. The ambiance and customer service of Captain's sub shop is fantastic. My family and I got a cheeseburger combo for my sister (cheeseburger, fries and a drink), a 10" Philly cheesesteak, a 6" Philly cheesesteak, and a coke for $40+. The Philly cheesesteaks were okay. There are definitely other places that are better. The cheeseburger my sister ate was terrible. It was meatloaf meat which was weird and gave the burger a weird taste. Again this is my opinion and everyone's taste buds are different but I will not be coming back here to eat again. read more

Reasonably priced mom & pop style shop. The name "subs" doesn't do it's menu justice. There's so much more to consider. My Italian Super Sub was indeed super and it was HUGE. But I would have liked to have known they put heaping amounts of chopped pickles on it. I would have asked for it on the side. There was so much they overwhelmed most of the other flavors, even the nice red onions. So I picked most of them out and had a great sub. My wife got the Tuna salad, Salad. I asked to add avocado to it and was told it already came with it. Great, The lady taking the orders was very nice yet kind of frenetic. Every time something occurred she'd stop what she was doing and move to that. Cashing me out, an order came up and she walked away in the middle of the transaction. Packing the order the phone rang and she went to answer it. Answering the phone a new customer walked up and she went over to him. Everything was gotten to eventually but it took a lot of extra time and steps. With a side of fries and a Gatorade it came to a smidge over $23. So where did the fifth star go? Well unfortunately it is because I got my A@# chewed when my wife asked me " where is the avocado?" I tried to explain but if there's one thing that she ever gets her hackles up over it is not having avocados with her salad after she specifically asked for it. The house steak sandwich is tasty though a little over-priced for the size. On the rare occasions I've tried something other than the cheese steak I was always disappointed. For example the Club Sandwich had limp, thin white bread, processed meats and cheese, wilted lettuce and I-kid-you-not, one of the tomato pieces was the top that included the core! yuck Needless to say I don't really experiment much here now. I have driven by Captain's many times and never stopped before. Which is surprising because as a General rule, I like places like this. Sometimes you can get some Major meals for your Private lunch. I salute (sorry) Captain's because they are friendly; like many places they ask your name when they take your order, but instead of calling out BILL, they bring the food to your table and say "Thank You Bill" and can I get you some condiments Bill". And as I was leaving "Thanks for coming Bill". Of course if Lucy Liu was there with me, they wouldn't call her Bill, they would call her Wing Loo (or maybe Slivermist or Viper). As for the food, the Philly sandwiches are good, but not authentic.enough to pass muster in Philly. They use regular rolls, cut the meat a little thicker and don;t get the topic of toppings. Heck they even offer avocado on one of their options. That may be a jail-able offense in SE Pennsylvania. The fries are awesome, though, crispy and plentiful and it is only $2.50 for the soda and drink combo. Unfortunately, they use Styrofoam cups, and have a fountain that doesn't have an ice dispenser. For some reason they keep a Coleman cooler behind the counter and scoop ice into your empty cup. if you come here looking for Authentic Philly you will be disappointed, but if you just want a sliced beef sandwich, you will like this place. Very very nice people, TERRIBLE sandwich. I ordered the Super Sub, which IS SUPPOSED to have ham, cheese, mortadella, turkey, dry salami & avocado, plus the usual. I got a Very Salty ham sandwich - no mayo, no avocado, no salami, no turkey, no cheese, no mortadella - and of course I didn't find out the omissions until I got all the way back to my office and unwrapped the sandwich. It's not like they were busy by any stretch - I was alone in the restaurant most of the time.
