It was literally partially meat and some other substance that gets shiny and carmelized when melted. I was so shocked I just had to weigh it. It was 2.6 ounces! That's with cheese. That makes it a slider portion of beef and grease but smashed to be bigger than a bun. The "onion" was a teaspoon of onionish jam on the thing. Oh and it's a place that's asks if you want to tip after you placed your order yourself on a screen and someone calls out your name while putting your bag on a counter. Neighbors, please consider that around the corner on Sepulveda is the best burger in the Valley at a Mexican restaurant that cooks them quick and to go. The hype is real!!! I finally made my way to FTW after hearing nonstop how they're putting out the best smash burger in LA. Came in Friday around 2 and was able to walk right up and start ordering. To get started you order from a tablet and customize your meal as desired. I figured I'd go big so I went with a triple smash with coke and fries. I probably didn't need a triple because it was a lot of meat(no diddy) but it was a fantastic burger. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the burger was flavorful and had those crispy edges that I look for in a smash burger. The inside had a small dining area and it was pretty warm inside enough that I changed my order from dine in to carry out. The ordering is easy, we used the self-service kiosk but they have someone who takes orders too. We placed our order and the food is cooked to order and doesn't take too long. We ate there to make sure we could eat the fries hot out of the fryer. The burger is very good, drippy messy good, nice bun, crispy edges to the meat and fresh produce. The fries were tender on the inside, fried long enough so you get a little bit of crispness and still taste potato. The order we got was a bit heavier on the salt than preferred but overall good hot fries. Overall, a very good smashburger. I'm old school so I'm a Bill's Burgers fan. Smash burger heaven! It's located in a pretty nondescript strip mall off of Sherman Way in a "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" situation, but it's a diamond in the rough. The cheese is creamy and melty and pairs really well with their house sauce. The pickles are thick and tart, which add to the savoriness of the patties. The bacon was crispy and salty which, coupled with the crispy edges of the patties, added some pleasant texture to the burger. The caramelized onions add a little sweetness to the mix and act as a foil to some of the overall saltiness. It's a very nice touch. The bun is brioche (I believe). I do not appreciate that they do not give cups of water when you dine in, so you're forced to purchase a water bottle or other drink. Also, I found it slightly odd that the cashier acted in the same way you might expect if they were having a huge rush of customers even when there is hardly anyone there. Well. Imma just say this....after eating at the Hollywood location, I was very disappointed. That first FTW burger had me dancing in my seat...it was THAT GOOD. First off...I touched my bun and it was cool...it should have been at least warm..that was my first disappointment. As for a seasoned patty..not so much and I had to check to see if cheese was on my burger. I also ordered fries...they were overcooked, crunchy. I don't know what costs are being cut but there was definitely a difference in taste. Lastly, as for ambience...being busy and having a wait was expected but as a Black woman...and luckily my 10yo son wasn't with me...the choice in music playing was vulgar and offensive.
