This is a truly smashing establishment ! Quite the hidden Gem. Right away was greeted by the owner of the business whom was super laid-back and really just seems like an all-around cool guy. Stopped by on a recent weekday for lunch and was surprised that I was their only customer. No parking lot so I found a spot on Ventura in front of a meter. Looked at the menu and went for their "Signature Smashburger" on top of the menu. The guy did ask me if I wanted any additional patties but I didn't see an option for that anywhere -- so just went with what I thought was their classic. When it arrived, it was a shockingly small 2 oz patty between a King's Hawaiian bun. (They don't use Martin's Potato Rolls here). I couldn't tell you about the quality of the meat as it was mostly bun. On the way out, the guy asked me "how was everything?" and I said there wasn't enough meat. "Everyone says that!" he replied. He said the online menu has an option to get a double or triple -- with the prices -- but not the huge in-store menu. I've been eating smash burgers for years and never have heard of a 2 oz patty. This is the greatest smash burger place with the best owners and vibe. I live in the area and I've taken my family here numerous times. The burgers are always fresh, meaty and delicious. Super nice guy at the counter made us feel like regulars from the moment we walked in. It's all about the French fries here, because they use beef tallow. Highly recommend those! The burgers, not so much: small, plain, few toppings, "spicy" is just jalapeno slices on top (I guess they are supposed to include chipotle sauce?), standard version includes only ketchup as a sauce no mustard let alone mayo. I wouldn't call the one I was served a "smash" burger. It was an ordinary thin little patty similar to a basic McDonalds burger but less flavorful, uncrispy edges that didn't reach anywhere near the sides of the bun let alone spill outside it, dry not juicy at all. Ordered the Spicy Double Smash. - Flavor: solid cheesy burger, but the "spicy" was really just jalapeños (can't recall anything else being spicy about it). Nothing else gave it much kick. That was a little disappointing . - Atmosphere: inside felt a little sketch, but they've got a nice outdoor seating area that made up for it. - Overall: not my favorite, but not bad.
