We love this place! We just went for the first time and we're already planning our next visit. The food was delicious and fresh. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. Emily was our server and she was impeccable! My husband had the Asian lamb chops and escargot. I had oysters, a fantastic arugula salad with goat cheese, apples and walnuts, and a wonderful seafood bouillabaisse. Even their gluten free bread was yummy. My husband and I usually love this place: low key, amazing food, seamless service. Unfortunately, I think tonight is our last night eating here. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with a collage of overly political, mean-styled signs. We may not always share politics viewpoints with everyone, but to start the evening feeling attacked by the overt mean-spiritedness of the signs wasn't the quiet, lovely date night we were expecting. We've been coming for years but today felt very second class also because we didn't have a reservation. We have never made one before and have never had issues with getting a table, but today it was clear that we were "bothering them" with our walk in dining. It's too bad, because we still had great service and amazing food. But bringing a judgy attitude to what's supposed to be a night off from the stress of daily life...well, just not worth it. I went there today with my daughter and the food and service was excellent. I was shocked when I saw a 4% service charge added for using a credit card. I did not give a 20% tip as usual but only 15%. The owner really has a nerve. I guess he wants cash so he doesn't have to claim it on taxes. I dine out a lot and no other restaurants that I go to charge a surcharge for using a credit card. Decided to come here for lunch with my husband despite the poor reviews on yelp cause reviews on Google maps were much better. I should've listened to my fellow yelpers. There were barely any customers so I expected our waiter to be more attentive, but unfortunately he wasn't. Hubby had a draft beer and I also ordered one. Our waiter obviously didn't know how to pour a beer cause it was mostly foam and it was also warm. The food was mediocre and it sure didn't seem "farm to table". Hubby had a Cubano that was just bland and i had a chicken sandwich that was just ok served with a very wet salad. We also ordered an appetizer of chickpeas,prosciutto and mushrooms. The mushrooms and prosciutto were fine, but the chickpeas tasted really off pudding. The ambiance was ok, they have a wine room that seemed like a nice space for a group dinner. Walking into this restaurant and being a political moderate, it was still evident that there is a politically polarizing atmosphere from the getgo. I decided to let the food and service speak for the place instead of the instant barrage of messages, and despite the calamari and pretzel being good, me and my brothers steaks came out overcooked and flavorless. The cheese for the pretzel was fake and processed, and even the red velvet cake had a pre packaged frozen taste as noted by my dad. Cocktails were average at best and they should really change the name of the Arthur Ave sampler to something else because it was terribly disappointing like old uncovered cold cuts found in the back of the fridge. Just an incredibly bad and shocking experience. We had a party of six, we had reservations for 8pm and were seated right away. Then things went downhill. We waited 40 minutes for our drinks to come out. The mixed drinks were not made correctly. Dirty martinis had no olive juice so they were not dirty. The Manhattan was mostly vermouth, not bourbon. No olives for the martinis and no cherries for the Manhattan, they were out of those. They blamed it on the daytime bartender not ordering more olives and cherries. Ok, should have just ordered a bottle of beer I guess. The two appetizers and bread came about an hour after we were seated. The apps were good, maybe because we were so hungry?? So I feel one star is justified for the Brussels sprouts. But the most amazing thing was when the meals were served, about 90 minutes after we were seated,the waitress told me they had run out of the schnitzel that I ordered. She told me about 5 minutes after the other 5 people were served and I was wondering where my meal was. I was shocked, she blamed it on the "board" not being updated properly. I guess there is limited vocal communication behind the scenes here. She suggested I get a pastrami sandwich since it would be quick. I ordered a burger instead. Time for the bill and we asked to be comped in some way, you know like no charge for the stupid burger I ordered. Maybe a discount for the drinks that were made as if the bartender failed bartender school. Well the owner "just left" but the waitress called him and he said there would be nothing off the bill. We were to pay the full bill with the 20% tip that had been added on. After some additional discussion she took the two horrible martinis off the bill. Aside from our lovely and accommodating server, the whole experience was underwhelming and uncomfortable. The ambiance was on point, but the food was awful. Our reservation was on the early side of a Saturday evening and I was told that the kitchen was out of my original order. I then ordered my second choice and was wholly unsatisfied. They were watery, bland, and clearly made by an inexperienced bartender. -Mussels served were either already bad/rancid or right on the cusp. They were served with a tinge of hot garbage and were flat/pressed (not fluffy and fresh). The sauce as a result was equally as off putting and we could not dip bread in it either. We had a few of the mussels and quickly realized we could not eat them/they were bad..... -The blue point oysters while not as bad as the mussels, were not fresh. They were also flat and just okay. 6/10 is being kind. -The ribs, I say with complete sincerity were the most absurd dish I recall being served in a restaurant. These things were so dry I thought we were being pranked when the plate hit the table surface. They were gray and there was no moisture left in them what so ever. When we politely and respectfully notified the waitress, she came back with "It has to do with the slow cooking process" from the chef which was a very lame attempt to validate the clearly justified complaint. -Broccoli served with the bland/below average salmon was flavorless and tasted like frozen reheated broccoli you would get in a grocery store... -Coffee machines broken for post meal dessert - a cappuccino and hot coffee order came back returned with bad news from our very polite waitress who informed us that the coffee machine was on the fritz... -We dined on a Sunday evening and the music was turned off and the entire restaurant made completely silent by approximately 8:30pm/8:45pm as we enjoyed our just average dessert. -Perhaps the fact that we were the only customers the entire evening for our 6:30 pm reservation should have raised a red flag... This kind of experience for a 4 top coming in above $500 was a huge let down. The waitress was able to credit us part of the ribs and take a beverage off the bill as a consolation but we would have much preferred to pay full price and enjoy a quality meal end to end. All in all this cozy little spot has the potential to be a solid dinner destination but seems to be lacking any sort of managerial accountability or quality control. Our food was very good - from the appetizer to the dessert. We ordered the appetizer special: Surf & Turf Tempura - An interesting spin on a sushi roll. Delicious (a bit spicy if you're not ready for it). I ordered the Thursday night special - King Crab legs. The legs are already halved for you, making it much easier and cleaner to eat. I was a little leery that the meat would be dried out and overdone. But happily, it was perfectly cooked! My husband had the Korean BBQ Lamb Chops. Very tender, cooked to perfection - charred on the outside, pink in the middle! For dessert we shared the Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie a la mode. We couldn't really taste the bourbon. But the pie was very good. Not too sweet and the chocolate was not overpowering but definitely present. The ambiance was very nice. We were there for my mothers birthday hearing the food was good but the service was slow. We gave it a try anyway. Drinks were good, mussels and shrimp were bland, I mean zero flavor. We left half the mussels in the bowl. My son ordered the ribs, which came out with the biggest layer of fat on them, to the point he was putting the fatty parts on my little plate that the waiter never cleared from the appetizer course. Ice cream was delicious and cheesecake as well. When we questioned about the the ribs, the waiter first got annoyed stating that he talk to owner and he said we ate through half, when in fact son barely ate. (He just threw a sandwich together at home.) The waiter sent the owner over. This is when a tall man smelling of scotch approach us and didn't say a word, I actually thought he was waiting for the restroom. Then proceeded to sit on the couch next to us until my mother addressed him. The unprofessionalism that this man displayed was absolutely ridiculous. When my mother was explained that my son barely could find any meat in his ribs, his response was "everyone loves my ribs, so that not the issue and besides I'm not taking the word of a fourteen old" with slurred words and a attitude. I got annoyed. I've been In hospitality industry and work with culinary trained chefs for the pass 20 years. No one is that arrogant when it comes to a complaint. And no properly trained owner or chef comes to a table with an attitude without trying to smooth things over. When I got involved he screamed " Jesus Christ" and left the room. People seem to be leaving a lot of comments in reference to politics here. The "decor" is less about politics and more about the owner seeming to be complaining. From the sign when you walk in about people not wanting to work, to the inflation breakdown of the cost of butter on the menu, and finally the complaining about credit card fees on the menu, the owner just seems to be really upset that it's difficult to run a business. Running a business surely is difficult and expensive but it's super offputting to publicly complain about the cost of a restaurant that you have willingly signed up to open and run. I also see a lot of comments saying that the one upside of this restaurant is that their food is good. For somewhere that claims to be a farm to table none of the food here tasted fresh and it was rather gross. This restaurant is an absolute waste of money and I surely won't be back. read more

Meh. That's the best word I can use to describe this place. Aside from being over-priced, over-political, and underwhelming. My family and I are in town to be together for a funeral and we came here hoping to have a good meal here. We called last week to make a reservation for 12 and asked to sit in the wine room and was told it was a $100 charge just to sit there. Upon arrive tonight for our 6:00 reservation, there was no one in the restaurant. No music was playing and it was just very strange and not welcoming. We sat down and was greeted by our server and it started pleasant enough. Fast forward to getting our food, most of us were really disappointed. My $40 filet mignon was medium when I asked for it rare, lamb chops were so tough and over cooked that they were inedible. Mussel appetiser was pathetically small in size and honestly smelled like sweaty feet. My father ordered an espresso and let me tell you- this was literal American coffee poured into an espresso cup. We know because we drink espresso all day being an Italian family. Our check was well over $1,000 and not worth it at all. The owners miss no opportunity to make the customer feel unwelcome and stupid. We've eaten here many times, brought family and friends here, lunch and dinner. Tonight, we headed there for our annual anniversary dinner. It's our favorite place. We looked up the menu before coming so that we could order right away, and noticed that prices had risen steeply, but that was okay. We usually choose a table by the bookshelves and wines because it is very romantic on this occasion, if available. Sometimes there is a wait, but after Covid it was usually half empty so we had no waiting periods. The hostess met us with breezy, cool demeanor. We told her, table for two. She asked if we had reservations, we said no. She seemed miffed about that, then grabbed menus and walked inside. So we followed, there were empty tables. She pointed toward one in the middle and we asked if we could sit at the empty one by the books. She rudely and gruffly replied "No, that's reserved." I mentioned that we ate here for our anniversary every year, we were not aware of reservations being required, I guess that was a recent change. She nastily replied "Oh, it's ALWAYS required reservations since I've been here." Well! How long have you been here? We did not recognize her at all. We sat, and I felt very uncomfortable. The music was 1970's era Rock n' Roll, just out of place there, not in keeping with the decor. Our special evening had a bitter start, and I mentioned to my husband that perhaps it is not a good idea to eat here, let's go home and go someplace else next Saturday to make up for this. My husband was upset, and so was I - the hostess, I guess was also the waitress. She asked brusquely if we wanted water, I said yes. I was standing by then. We decided to leave. I met her on the way out, and said, I'm sorry, we're not staying. Outside, we decided not to let this experience spoil our evening, so we decided to go to another restaurant. On the way out of the parking lot we noticed a new restaurant at the end, AMA Wood Fired Kitchen and Bar. We were greeted by a very friendly Maitre d' who invited us to sit at the bar while waiting for a table. Warm, busy ambiance with a burning wood fire behind the bar, but not chaotic. We will be back, but not to Farm to Table Bistro. It has lost it's charm. People mentioned political signage, but we did not notice any, it was dark outside. That would be a bit inhospitable.
