I heard great things about this place & I love breakfast, so I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately my experience was not great. It's a Saturday morning- I expected a wait, but the wait was after we were seated. Our waitress came and told us 4 times that our food would be ready soon. I ordered the Florentine eggs Benedict. The hollandaise was skimpy, the food not warm, and my one muffin had the poached egg soft as I ordered and the other was just egg whites! I live really close by and thought I would give it a shot, maybe find a breakfast place I can treat myself to every few Sunday's. I was seated rather quickly in the patio which had lovely light. I received good service from the waitresses and they were very kind. I have no complaints about atmosphere or the service. And the Rumosa was excellent, if not a bit strong for 1:30 on a Sunday, which I don't mind. However, the Sunrise Burrito that I ordered left much to be desired. It was pretty expensive for being practically flavorless and appeared soggy when it arrived to me. I dug all the contents out to try and get some avocado and sausage, the only part that had any flavor since the Brie was wet and flavorless; though now that I think on it, I'm not sure what was Brie and what was actually wet egg whites. And the sausage was an additional add-on cost; thank goodness I did opt for it since it would have been a waste without the added flavor. I then picked at the tortilla to at least get some of my money's worth. The homemade salsa on the side was tasty, I just wish the same level of flavor had been bestowed on the rest of the burrito. A dish doesn't have to be flavorless to be healthy, since this was one of the lower calorie options. I will venture back eventually to try something different. I can't imagine that the rest of the menu is that bad since it truly was busy with only two hours left before they close. I hope to form a better opinion of their other menu items. read more

I am writing this review from the burger place across the street. After waiting a long time to be seated (understandable) we were seated and ordered immediately. We were given 2 orange juices and a water and no one came back to us for over 45 minutes. Not even for drink refills. There lack of attention was appalling. I was so hungry that we just wanted to pay for our orange juices and leave. The manager did comp our orange juices and offered to pay for our meal if we waited but we have no intentions of coming back and just wanted to leave. While waiting there were tons of empty tables and it just seems like for a place that serves only breakfast they need to figure out a better system. Very disappointed. Husband and I decided to try The Famous Toastery in Ashburn. The restaurant was very busy but we only had a modest wait to be seated. Was slightly concerned being so busy might affect service and food quality but was quickly proven wrong. Everything was done right - The serving staff friendly and attentive, omelettes and hash browns cooked and seasoned just right. Even the toast was absolutely perfect, I cannot remember when I have had breakfast out and a simple thing like toast come out of the kitchen toasted and crisp. I wanted a break from the usual Saturday breakfast spot I go to with my family and looked up some local spots that offered some gluten free options. I saw the reviews so decided to give this it a go. We got there at 10ish on a Saturday morning and only waited 10-15 minutes. Upon being seated we were told all their wait staff works together so anyone can assist us which I thought was great. The service was absolutely the best I've had at any local restaurant in VA. The staff was courteous and pleasant and our food arrived promptly. I usually order my 10yr old son an adult meal but found the kid's meal to be more than plentiful for him. Their food looked fresh and the gluten free pancakes were perfect. We really liked the Famous Toastery in Ashburn. Went there for Mother's Day. The food was great. A little slow, but that's to be expected on Mother's Day. Menu is extensive and Family could find something for everyone, breakfast or lunch. Will definitely be going there again. read more

I give this place a 5 star rating because the owner is very involved, but most importantly my waitress, JACKIE!! after being run over by a car immediately proceeding a horrific motorcycle accident right outside of this fine establishment I went there with my galook of a brother for breakfast. Food came out suspiciously fast, hot, and delicious. What set it apart is that our waitress saw my debilitating condition and offered to help me by cutting my pancake and eggs up for me. It was heart warming, generous, and a very family oriented approach to the most important meal of the day. I declined her assistance on the premise of pride and my need to be self sufficient as well as independant. I'll certainly return for more raspberry walnut pancakes. I'm pretty disappointed, but not surprised. I read up on reviews before coming in for my first time. There were only a few BAD ones that I saw- but what restaurant doesn't have the occasional bad review? So, whatever. Came here this past Saturday with my best friend. Her and I love exploring new places, we had known about this place but had just gotten the chance to try it out. Mistakes happen though!! I had the Cali Benny, & hasbrowns with a mimosa, and my friend had the southwestern omelet, hasbrowns, and toast with a mimosa as well. The mimosa- yeah, it wasn't a mimosa, it tasted like champagne and only champagne (and it didn't taste like QUALITY champagne, tasted like the kind you pick up from a gas station). The Cali Benny had 0 flavor. I LOVE avocado, but you have to add vibrancy to make avo mix well. Literally, I got bread, tomato, & avo (three flavors that have no flavor). I tried my best friend's omelet- chorizo is supposed to be completely flavorful. I'm not quite sure how you actually mess up a meat that's naturally supposed to have exploding flavors... Oh and the hasbrowns? Mushy, cold & bland. I understand dropping the check off with the food is like a way of saying "whenever you're ready, you don't have to wait around for someone", but jeez, if you don't understand the process you're REALLY going to throw someone off and it makes it basically look like you're trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible. Which isn't the point of a restaurant. The point is to invite people in so they can explore your menu and take their time enjoying the ambiance of the environment. Not only was the food & mimosas a waste of $55, that also including the "coffee" that's served (my Keurig at home makes better coffee with McCafe k-cups), the service is COMPLETELY TOO MUCH. We had 4 different servers approach us asking the same things over and over in a course of about 20 minutes. Then when we received our food, another handful of servers asking us how we were doing and if our food was good in another course of short time. I don't even think I had finished half of my plate before the fourth or fifth server came to the table. Yeah I don't know, maybe some people like that attention, but if I'm eating or having a drink with my friend, I'd rather be left alone once all the important stuff (like orders being taken, drinks refilled, etc.) is taken care of. But don't get me wrong, the servers are very friendly, even if their smiles looked forced. But the "every server is your server" thing is chaotic and I don't know who thought that was a good idea. My friend and I saw one of the servers walk out pretty abruptly, she did not look happy at all. But she wasn't the only one, most of the servers there looked quite stressed and unhappy. What's that manager doing? Shouldn't they be caring about their employees and trying to make their working experience better?? I guess not. But if that's your style! So overall, my friend and I will not be back, we're pretty sorry we went and probably should have listened to those few bad reviews. Very disappointed in the customer service today as we pretty much received no customer service at all. My husband and two young boys were seated and we sat at our table for literally 20 minutes with no acknowledgment from anyone. Several waiters passed by our tables, even check on the tables surrounding us but completely ignored us. We could of stopped one of the waiters but we wanted to see if we would even be acknowledged at all. Stopped by on a Saturday at 12. A short 20 min wait. Wasn't too bad. I liked the free pot of coffee outside. We had the the left coast BLT and Bacon Mushroom and Swiss omelette. Sandwhich was great. Would have been excellent if it wasn't missing the avacado and Brie. Carla our waitress was great and got the BLT corrected FAST. There was one guy that was kind of a jerk or maybe he was just oblivious. Surprisingly his uniform shirt said trainer. I walked up to the bar area to ask him for 2 glasses of water he just looked and ignored me. Then went on to help some lady who came up behind me with her coffee or something. Never even acknowledged me even after he helped her. Just looked right through me like I wasn't standing in front of him. It would have been a 5 star experience at Toast otherwise. Maybe his name was Chad? Not sure tho. Too bad that is what I will remember of this restaurant he most. So much for every server is your server. Good coffee and my daughter liked her pancakes. My husband likes his burger but the chili lacked flavor. My food was not edible. Too salty.

The food was ok and service pretty poor. They didn't run all of the food to the table together and we had a five minute wait for the final plate. After the wait, we sent on plate back because the eggs were overdone and it was completely lacking flavor. In our time there, we saw 3 other tables send food back also. The manager spent the entire hour we were there walking around looking irritated. We have been looking for a good breakfast place for a while and my fiance had mentioned this place had opened up nearby, so we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food and service was. The manager, Blake, was very friendly and made us feel very welcome and taken care of. Needless to say, we've been back almost every weekend since trying it! My favorite part is there are a lot of items on the menu available a la carte. I pretty much build a meal based on how I am feeling and the price comes out to be around that of one of their normal selections. Honestly my favorite restaurant ever. I love their gluten free options, and that says a lot because usually gluten free food is hard to make delicious but Famous Toastery always makes it amazing. The staff is so incredibly friendly and always full of smiles. Once I tried a new flavor of pancakes that I never had before, and when I told the server that the flavor I picked wasn't my favorite, she got it switched out for another dish immediately. First time here, excited to have a breakfast place. I have been disappointed with other egg-based breakfast places. I always say my goal is to live 30,000 days and eat 15,000 breakfasts, so i'm up for breakfast anytime, but i'm a big fan of the basics. If you do breakfast, you have to do regular breakfast stuff great. I got the three eggs (nice to have that on the menu instead of having to add one) with grits, toast, ham. Coffee was good. Eggs were cooked perfectly (unusual). Ham was good. Grits were perfect consistency. Toast was great, and they have the fancy kind of corn-syrup-table-jelly instead of the regular kind. The food filled the plate and looked good without any crazy cabbage, another pet peeve of mine at breakfast places. Food came out quickly for my one-top. I got to watch the cool fresh squeezed orange juice machine, which is cool to look at if you have kiddos. Other reviews have for some reason made a big deal out of the server concept. Personally I don't get what the big deal is. There were maybe 4 or 5 servers working with maybe 15 to 20 tables occupied (it was a Tuesday around 9:30 in the summer). Servers were wandering around constantly, always available. If you can't flag down a waiter to get you some coffee, I don't know what to tell you. I didn't try anything fancy, but then again I don't like super fancy breakfasts. I like the basics done really well. That's what they did. The hosts working for this restaurant lie to any prospective customer asking for their status on the breakfast/brunch waitlist. When my family tried to eat breakfast here and we checked in, the hostess told us the wait for a 6-top (4 adults, 2 kids) would be 15 minutes. We subsequently waited about 45 minutes, as we watched multiple families seated who had arrived after us. We then witnessed a hostess seat a couple with an infant carrier at a 6-top. We overheard them complain that they had been told repeatedly that "you are next on the list." When we checked on our status (as our children had begun melting down), we were told repeatedly "we were next," even as more families were seated. We were then told we had to wait for the 6-top that had just been seated, but the wait would be 15 more min--at this point, we'd be seated about an hour after we had arrived. If we had known the true length of the wait, we would never have wasted our time; however, we would have appreciated the honesty. When we confronted the hostess and host, they looked at us blankly and one offered us cornbread, randomly. We left, after waiting an hour. Bottom line, it's extremely disrespectful to customers to lie repeatedly about a wait--your customers are not morons and they will figure out what is happening. We tried their breakfast on a Sunday and called for a To Go order. The experience over the phone was decent. However after my boyfriend returned with the food, he informed me that the place was chaotic. The staff didn't know how to handle the register. They were also rude. Our food was not good. I had to finish cooking the turkey bacon when he got here because all of it was undercooked. Also the stuffed french toast was one of the worst I've had. It was basically two pieces of french toast mashed together with the strawberries and cream cheese in between. So it was a sandwich essentially. It wasn't sweet I had to put some cinnamon and sugar on it myself. I couldn't bare to eat it anymore after taking a bite of a second piece and it tasted like someone dumped garlic and onions on it. My s/o & I come here just about every weekend for breakfast. The wait is never as long as they say which is awesome. The food is good every time and our favorite ladies in there are Dawn and Crystal! They're so friendly and on the ball with service. Good food doesn't mean much without good service and we enjoy going there so much partly because of them. Always consistantly good, fast and fresh. I met the owners and they truly are passionate about this place and listen to their customers. Sorry some of the early goers didn't enjoy their visit, but they had just opened in November-2016. I've been there several times and have had no issues. Space between tables seemed fine to us.
