There's really nothing else like it, the way they incorporate chocolate into both sweet and savory dishes feels creative without being overdone. For drinks, The Moussetache was smooth and velvety with rich chocolate notes, while Fetish felt like a true dessert in a glass, decadent and indulgent. The espressotini had a bold coffee kick, and the Passion Agave mocktail was light and refreshing. The entrees were just as impressive. The Conche Burger was juicy and flavorful with subtle cocoa depth, the Harissa Chicken Sizzle came out tender with a nice balance of heat and smoky sweetness, and the Ribeye was perfectly cooked, rich, and elevated by their signature touch. The ambiance is warm, modern, and intimate, perfect for a date night or a special dinner. We have dined at The Conche several times over the years and have had generally good experiences but last night is likely our last time. We were here for a birthday meal for my husband, which we noted on the reservation. The good: Service, while not great, was ok. She asked if we were here for anything in particular and I mentioned his birthday (which in many places, they would have known from the notation on the reservation, but again, this was not something that bothered me in particular.) The rest: First, the food. Our appetizers were on the "specials": a watermelon salad and crab stuffed squash blossoms. The watermelon was good overall, but with the current issue of cyclospora outbreak, we probably would have picked something else if the menu had noted that one of the ingredients was arugula. I realize that this is just us being overly cautious but it would have been good to know in advance. The squash blossom stuffing tasted more like tuna than crabmeat. Edible but not that good. It got worse with entrees. Husband ordered the ribeye and I had the short rib. I was actually shocked to see that steak: it was SO thin. Wish I had thought to take a picture of it. Due to this, it was overcooked - almost impossible not to do so for such a thin piece of meat. A ribeye at Texas Roadhouse would have been superior to this, and probably half the price (it was criminal to charge $58 for this.) Also nowhere on the menu did it say that the seasoning in the steak was spicy. Again - would have ordered something else had he known that. Short rib was dry and the reduction sauce was overly salty. The goat cheese potato puree that accompanied both tasted good but there was so little of it that it was more of a suggestion of a side than an actual side. We skipped dessert and asked for the check, which took a long time to arrive. Eventually the waitress arrived, apologized for the wait, and set down an empty plate with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate syrup with a birthday candle. Huh??? Either give some kind of dessert or don't bother! We would have rather had no acknowledgement than this waste of time and dirtying a plate. To be clear - we weren't looking for a free dessert; we were ready to go and would have ordered something if we wanted it. But this is just weird. I'm sorry to see this place go downhill. For some reason, they took an unusual amount of time to come out with appetizers, but service is nice overall as they come check in often. We came in wanting to eat light as we just finished a matcha lab at Seven Teahouse across the street. They have a lovely octopus on top of the crostini--it was their seasonal dish, and the octopus was firm but not stringy tough. The Catalonia shrimp was good but it was more of a shrimp tomato bisque vibe on top of a bread. The chocolate crème brulee was nice with a crispy sugar layer but was more or less like a chocolate pudding. This is a pretty unique place located all the way in Leesburg, VA, as most of the menu sweet or savory emphasize some element of chocolate. Expensive but worthwhile splurge. I went here on a Friday dinner and reservations are fairly easy to get last minute. As I arrived on the earlier side, I was able to request specific seats, and they accommodated. I made a note in the reservations to sub the 3-course prix fixe menu dessert to the Conche Entremet, and they were able to for a $15 supplement, still cheaper than buying all the entrees a la carte for a solo diner. However, do note that even for a 3 course meal, it is a lot of food and I ended up only able to finish a quarter of the dessert. It may be better to order a la carte and share the dinner as a party of 2 or 3. I got the Conche caesar salad which had cocoa nibs. It otherwise tasted like a caesar salad but with a little bit of flair to it. I wished there were more cocoa nibs to savor the uniqueness of the dish. For main course, I had the braised short rib that was pretty solid - fairly tender beef and delicious accompaniments. It was hard to extract out the chocolate flavor here. For dessert, of course I got the Conche Entremet. It is a whole show and the dessert lights up the chocolate shell on fire and it melts to open up the actual dessert inside. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, the presentation, and the actual dessert, which is a cake with ice cream inside. I got the wine pairing and the wines, although not of the fanciest quality, pairs very well so they did a pretty good job with the pairing with the flavor profile. As soon as you step foot in The Conche you are introduced to the concept. Look to the left and you see a tantalizing display of chocolates. Look to the right and you see a display with a conche machine demonstrating how their chocolate is processed. I can't tell you if a conche truly produces better chocolate, but the sweet side of the menu really gets the job the done. I'm a bit unsure about everything else. I almost visited this restaurant a month ago during the lunch hour and it was completely empty. It made me hesitate, and when I walked in the door for my eventual dining experience the tables were still sparsely populated. This did not translate to particularly attentive service. Our waiter, though very kind when he came to the table, seemed to have his attention split three ways between the front counter, the kitchen, and the tables. Perhaps this a necessity given the light lunch crowd. I ordered The Conche Burger, which was recommended to me by the waiter. It was a mixed experience. The burger patty itself was decadent: braised short rib, cooked a perfect medium rare, and it had a nice bite from the sharp Vermont cheddar. It was really quite good overall, but I couldn't help but wonder where the other flavors were. The one thin slice of tomato was doing no work. The chocolate BBQ sauce, one of the only things on the lunch menu that leans into the concept, was inperceptible. The burger could really use a leafy, bitter green to offset the fattiness. My daughter got parm crusted chicken strips with fries from the kids menu. It was solid and she loved it, but I wasn't the biggest fan of paying $14 for a kids meal with no drink. The chocolate though . . . First of all, I don't know if this is a regular happening at the restaurant, but our waiter brought us two chocolates flavored with Pomegranate on the house. All of the balance the burger might have been lacking was present in these bites. But the star of the entire show was clear: the Manjari. This was one of the 3-5 best desserts I have had all year. It's a chocolate mousse filled with vanilla crème Brûlée, dark chocolate brownie, and accompanied by salted caramel as well as salted caramel ice cream. On paper, it sounds like too much. It sounds overwhelming for someone who doesn't eat a lot of sweets anymore, and especially very little chocolate. Throw away the paper - every bite was near perfection. Even if you don't want the whole thing, that salted caramel ice cream was special in a way that I didn't expect. I still have a lot of questions about The Conche but I think it's fair to say that they are a chocolateria first. Looking at it through that lens, I can't go any lower than four stars. read more

This is a 10 star place. Staff is very friendly, it felt like we were dining at a family event vs a restaurant. Carolina our server was amazing, Bishan (sp?) the manager was very attentive and approachable, the bartender Zuleica (sp?) made fantastic drinks. I recommend the espresso Negroni, not on the menu but ask Bishan for the Galileo Negroni, trust me. Next you have to try the burger, I knew at first bite it was by far the best burger I've ever tried. The bacon wrapped tenderloin was cooked to perfection, the short rib pasta was to die for. After a short absence, I've been back twice recently for brunch and I have two recommendations...the Espresso Martini and the Huevos Rancheros. The Martini is like nothing you have seen or tasted before. Zuleyka is in charge of crafting the fresh brewed beans, Vodka and froth and then torching a Marshmallow on top...gorgeous! So, I've lived in the Village Market Plaza for a year and a half and just visited the this really hyped up place called the Conche. Went for brunch and started out with a Spicy Bloody Mary. It was quite tasty but, not spicy at all. Had the Huevos Rancheros, which was really tasty. Two stuffed jalapeños on top of three side up eggs followed by a layer of crispy tortillas all sitting on a bed of a cocoa infused black bean purée (really tasty). We also had the Chicken and Biscuit, which was really good. There was a raspberry peppercorn jam drizzled around the biscuit.... It tasted really well with the chicken. I ordered the lamb shank with no peppercorn sauce and no jam with a crispy side of EXTRA CRISPY BACON and a side of creamed spinach. Absolutely amazing and delicious!! Oh my goodness!!!! First time coming here, hearing that they're known for their desserts, so that's all I was expecting. But I am very impressed with everything about this restaurant! Firstly, a big shoutout to our waiter Kinsey, who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the items. He really helped make our customer experience amazing and definitely a reason to come back to the restaurant as well. Also was able to try out some of their sweet/chocolate offerings, which were all so great - probably the best smores I've had in my life too honestly. The drinks and food were amazing as well. I got two berry fizz drinks, which were both tasty with the hints of chocolate on the rim and on the tip of the drink. The drink was a good blend of sweet and sour. I got the lamb cigars which were crispy and tasty, alongside the given sauce. I got the try the butternut squash soup and pork belly buns, which were both so delicious. I got the raspberry chocolate cake for dessert and it was an amazing way to end the night; not too sweet for the cake, and the other elements on the plate had their own unique tastes and bits as well. The interior is nice and decorated elegantly. I really enjoyed this place and definitely would make a trip to the Ashburn area again to try out more of their foods and actually get an entree, since I was too full to have one this day. Huge Letdown: Disjointed Service, Alarming Oversights, and Overpriced, Average Food We dined here to celebrate a special occasion--a teen's birthday--which was communicated to the restaurant twice in advance. Our waiter, Salvatore, arrived with no knowledge of the special occasion. What then followed was a deeply disappointing and, at times, alarming experience that showed a complete lack of attention to detail, hospitality, and care for guest safety. 1. Alcohol Served to a Minor A prix-fixe menu was ordered by a teenager at our table. Later we learned this includes a glass of prosecco. Without any clarification from our server (Salvatore), prosecco was sent out -- by a different server. The moment my son ordered the coursed meal, Salvatore should have: 1. Advised us that alcohol was included. 2. Offered a non-alcoholic alternative. This restaurant hosts chocolate-making events for kids -- surely a chocolate-infused, kid-friendly beverage could have been substituted. 2. Food Allergy We informed our server of a severe food allergy in our party. Still, an amuse-bouche was dropped off by yet another server, without any explanation of its ingredients. This oversight is unacceptable in any dining setting. 3. Lack of Recognition for Special Occasion The Conche made no effort to acknowledge the birthday we were celebrating -- there was zero celebratory touch, aside from a plate with HBD written in chocolate, which was brought to the table after I asked our server to please bring something special for my son. We would have gladly paid extra for any dessert had it been suggested or recommended. 4. Disjointed and Inattentive Service Multiple servers (plus a robot) contributed to a chaotic and inconsistent experience. Nobody took clear ownership of the table. Basic attentiveness was lacking, and no one explained the role of the robot--which only added to the confusion. 5. Inconsistent Food Quality While a few dishes were flavorful, others were nearly inedible: fishing tasting calamari, undercooked "crispy" Brussels sprouts, dry monkey bread, and watered-down frozen hot chocolate filled with bits of ice. At this restaurant's price point, you expect a consistent, high-quality, fine dining experience, and The Conche did not deliver that. Poor Response from Management Despite a call made the next day sharing these concerns, the manager at no point offered any meaningful gesture. He made no attempt to make things right. Later, when I posted a similar review on OpenTable, the manager responded by saying it was "unfortunate" that I chose to escalate the situation -- missing yet another opportunity to demonstrate accountability. Our bill for a party of six, with no alcohol (minus the bubbly mentioned above) ordered, was more than $500. Bottom line: Based on our experience, I would caution others expecting a thoughtful or celebratory dining experience to consider other options. read more
