The main thing nowadays is the price, very reasonable. And nobody rushing you. They seem happy if you keep having more Jamoke. St Paddy's Day and corn beef was calling to me. There are a few pubs in the area but we were curious to try Spanky's. The reviews are good. That speaks volumes. On this special day of celebration they had 3 bands so they charged a $10 cover. No one works on this day so at 11am it was packed. We found a nice space on the outdoor covered deck. The server was so amazing! She made sure we had the specials menu and told us about the green beer specials. The crowd was dressed in green and enjoying the outdoor deck despite a slight chill. Food was great for a pub food. The specials included the typical Irish dishes. I opted for a corn beef sandwich. I asked for a plain one and they cooked food to order. Came here for a quick bite before a sport tournament. Was somewhat surprised at the faint cigarette smell, but quickly figured out the "shenanigans" component of the establishment and was fine with it. (Wasn't too overpowering - could just faintly smell it in the air) Food was very good and portions were nice. Our party got Reuben's, burgers, steak & cheese subs and all came with very crispy/tasty fries. Sweet potato fries were very good as well. Steak and cheese had enough meat, bread was soft, taste was good. Hubby recommended also buttering/toasting the OUTSIDE of the rye bread for the reuben and it would be 5 stars! I ordered the blackened shrimp Mac and Cheese on 10/11/2025. It is delicious. The shrimp are nicely seasoned, maybe slightly overcooked but nonetheless delicious. The Mac and Cheese is creamy delicious. It's the best Mac and Cheese I've had in a while. So many times, I've ordered Mac and Cheese and it's not creamy. My only criticism of the Mac and Cheese is that it needs a little more salt. I will definitely order this again. read more

Stopped in to Spanky's Shenanigan Pub on a Sunday for brunch. The place was packed - there are two sides to the pub - from what I can tell, the left hand side is for smokers - the reason I state that is there was a gentleman smoking a cigarette holding the front door open for an elderly couple - he then went back inside and to the left - still smoking a cigarette. I opened the door to that side - and it smelled like cigarettes. Yuck. So I went over the other (right) side - which did not smell like cigarettes. There was one booth open - which I snagged. My server arrived promptly and presented me with both brunch and regular menus. I ordered the "Belmont Ridge," which is sausage gravy over your choice of bread - I opted for their buttermilk biscuits - served with hot, crispy breakfast potatoes, and your choice of meat (I went with bacon). I added two eggs over easy - and coffee and water. Coffee and water came out first. Standard coffee - nothing interesting about it. My food order came out shortly afterward. Most of the food was hot - the sausage gravy, was lukewarm. You could see the bits of sausage in the gravy - but, as with so many sausage gravies - the gravy is under-seasoned - and it really doesn't taste like sausage. I added black pepper, salt, and Cholulu hot sauce to the gravy to amp it up. The potatoes were hot and crisp - but they too needed seasoning. The eggs were cooked properly and the bacon was crisp and tasty. Checking in with the Yelp app secured me a 20% discount off of my bill. A paper bill was brought to my table on a small clipboard - so no Apple Pay option - at least by default. Service was good. #SpankysShenanigans read more

If it's nice weather, sitting in the patio is a lovely environment. Otherwise, this is a typical very dimly lit pub and diner type experience. Although it's difficult to see and read the menu due to the lack of lighting, it is still obvious that this business is in desperate need of a remodel. The stench of cigarette smoke hanging in the air, seeping into your lungs, clothes, and hair. A smokey residue unlike any other, clinging to every surface- a stickiness and grime that cannot be wiped away. Please do something to protect patrons from the harrowing smoke. Aside from this filthy environment, this venue provides kind service/hospitality and surprisingly fresh food. The menu offers a good variety of options to suit each palate. Unfortunately every time we return here I leave feeling sick from the smoke, contend with a sore throat for a couple of days after, and have to wash everything that now wreaks of smoke. The owner is kind and helpful and we want to support local small businesses. It's a sad situation when you see a local small business falling apart and seemingly uncared for. I don't know why there's still a smoking side - the smoke is everywhere with greater concentration levels through the swinging doors. Perhaps the owner is a smoker. Either way, we have been regulars due to wanting to support local business and because the owner is of good character. read more

A staple of Leesburg since the early 2000's (maybe even before that), it's a neighborhood favorite spot to enjoy good eats, watch sports and some live music, and get your drink on. I've been coming since 2007 when I was in Leesburg so it's only fitting that I finally get to writing about the spot. It used to be one giant bar space since smoking was allowed. Not sure when it was updated but it's separated now where the left side is for smoking and the right side is non-smoking. Probably one of the few bars I can think of that still allows smoking inside; good thing it's separated. Not sure how people can enjoy eating shrimp or burgers while sucking down marlboros. But that's none of my business. Now for the place, there's plenty of TVs to watch your NFL Sunday ticket, March Madness, or whatever athletic spectacles that catch your attention. Sometimes they'll have live music or trivia/contests as part of the entertainment. Either way, there's options to keep you engaged. Drink-wise, draft beers are cheap and they have some deals on NFL Sunday. With some domestic pints at $3.50, that's not a bad deal. They also do some great bloody marys for brunch if that's your thing. Food-wise, typical bar eats and they do great with those. Wings are delicious as well as their loaded tots. Peeled shrimp/seafood is available as well. The menu is quite extensive so you're bound to find something you'll enjoy while you're here. Plus breakfast is served everyday from 8-11 and extended until early afternoons on Saturday and Sunday. Most important meal of the day amirite!? Bartenders, while busy, are attentive and get you what you need in a timely fashion. I appreciate that I always had a beer and my water filled and never had to flag anyone down for that. This pub is the best around--hands down! the food is fantastic!! The service is excellent regardless of time of day and whether you choose smoking or non-smoking side. I read several reviews, abs I must say to all the smoke complainers---Don't Sit on the Smoking Side. Virginia allows smoking if the area is ventilated separately from the non-smoking side. The smoking side is the original pub area with original booths, bars, etc. it looks like an Irish pub. it is NOT dirty, it has smoking bathrooms, and access to the outback patio. The non-smoking side was a Reno, it has a separate entrance & exit, separate non-smoking bathrooms, its own bar, a dance floor, and plenty of seating. I am not a smoker, and I choose which side to sit on based on who I'm with and the purpose of my visit. I'm not sure why the smoke-complaining reviewers are not mentioning there is a larger, non-smoking side, and that they CHOSE to sit in the smoking side. They normally have live music in the weekend. The bartenders are experienced, so the mixed drinks are great. For breakfast, I highly recommend the homemade corned beef hash!! For lunch, the Raider sandwich is to die for---it's on a cornbread-type sandwich bread--very unique. Depending on the day of week, you can't go wrong with the prime rib and perfectly cooked sugar snap peas. Tou also can't go wrong with a burger, which is even better on half-priced burger night. if you're looking for a place for good food, a local joint, live music on Friday night, or just a night to get out and have fun, this is your place. To boot, they have a can to give you complimentary rides home, to local hotels, and even to other bars in town to eliminate drunk driving. who could ask for anything more? The bartender/server was very busy. She was still pretty quick to get my drink order; which was coffee (which was pretty decent). It was not a short wait; which was fine by me, given how busy she was. Eventually, she got around to me; with my coffee and the she took my order. They had biscuits and gravy on the menu, so I had to try it (if it's on the menu, I will try it; I am still looking for B&G that is as good as Triple XXX Root beer in West Lafayette Indiana! Boiler up! Alas, I am still on the hunt). However, their B&G is still yummy! Note: there is a decision you'll need to make between regular sausage or the house sausage (unlike liqueur, house meant it was made just for them). I wouldn't consider myself a regular of Spanky's but I would like to say that the staff here always does a wonderful job whenever I do visit. Joni has taken care of me a majority of my visits here and she is always prompt with her hospitality and totally on her game. The food here that I have tried is always on point and the Funnel Cake fries are a menu item that you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. Well what a mistake. ordered food in advance. got there about after ten minutes within placing my order. Did not expect it to be ready when I got there. But once they knew I was there, I figured they'd be wrapping it up. Ten minutes goes by, mind you, they've checked on me four different times while I was waiting, multiple people as well, well someone else comes out and says it's going to be fifteen minutes! So I place an order to be ready by 5:12. And you're telling me it's been well over 30 minutes I've been here. Unacceptable. If you can't fulfill orders online, turn it off. I mostly have gotten take out here. The food is pretty good - nothing fancy, but decent pub food. I've always had a good meal overall. Food is prepared fast and correctly - always delivered without delay and accurately. I've eaten in the restaurant once and it was ok. Typical sports bar. There are two sections for when you could still smoke inside and it felt like the residue of smoke still hung in the air. This isn't to say it wasn't clean - it seemed to be - but it just could use a refresh of the decor I think. Pleasant local dive bar that reminds me of my college days. Dog friendly patio in the back, slot machines on the inside, and lack of alcohol menu but they try to accommodate all drink needs. Free parking in the front. Definitely have the basic necessities for your needs. Staff/service give that local welcome and a warm but distant embrace. Multitudes of tvs inside and even a smoking section indoors Prices for food can range from 10s to 20s and everything slaps (in a good way). Where else can you still decide to go through the smoking or non smoking door?!?! This spot is a Leesburg staple and our go to. You get a little bit of everything - sometimes a show, sometimes a charity event. Food is solid. We've never had a bad meal here. The portion sizes are generous to say the least. The prices haven't been touched by inflation. You can get a nice meal for 2 for the same price from a drive thru. Don't sleep on the salads - delicious. Servers are nice and direct. They know what they are doing here. Never had a bad experience. Deducted one star because the smoke smell can seep into the non smoking dining room if it's peak time. 5 stars here. Why? The breakfast I had at 9:30 on a Sunday morning was FANTASTIC! Homemade sausage gravy on biscuits with hash browns and a side of sausage. (On the menu it's called the Belmont.) I found this place here on Yelp and checked the menu. When I went in to Shenanigans I was greeted by the bartender who was busy, but she still had a moment to smile and welcome me while giving me a menu. I noticed the prices here on Yelp and on their menu were different, so I asked the bartender if she was the manager. At that moment, Jeannie (I hope I spelled her name correctly.) was walking by and said she would be with me in a moment. (Most managers are expecting a "Karen", so I kind of felt bad asking for her, but I also wanted to make her aware of the price differences on Yelp and their menu.) Come to find out, Yelp had higher prices than the reality. I'm from NJ/NY and was in Leesburg for work. You are not going to get as good a breakfast as I did for $11 anywhere else! Visited Shenanigans new pizza and sub shop. Did not disappoint. Great thin sliced pizza. The sauce really stood out. Excellent!. The crust had a nice crunch to it. The undercarriage was nicely cooked. I went traditional with a cheese only 16 inch pie. Sat inside and downed the whole thing. So good! There are only a few worthy pizza shops in Leesburg.
