We went to Fable and Fire for dinner, slow wait staff for drinks, and to take or order. To over 45 min for our food. When the food arrived looked very good. She ordered the pork chop, leek mashed potatoes. The pork chop was dry and bland no seasoning the potatoes had no leak flavor. I ordered the mushroom pesto pasta. The pasta was cooked well. The mushroom basil pesto was lack of garlic salt and pepper. Add chicken was bland no flavor. read more

5 stars for the venue alone. An amazing reno of the space. We came in for Brunch on a Saturday. Arrived when the doors opened and there was a line, but plenty of seating. The restaurant remained full during our time there. The noise level was suprisingly low - considering how loud things can get in these older buildings. We were at a booth and that may have been the difference, though. The food was good - we had a variety of brunch items and everyone seemed to enjoy their selections. The yogurt parfait could feed a small town - it was huge! Breakfast sandwiches, etc were all good. Service was OK. Friendly, but not very polished. Had to request refills on drinks, etc. Requests for more condiments never came. The restaurant is new so some of the glitches will get worked out over time. Can't wait for warmer weather to sit in the little side courtyard and enjoy a cocktail! read more

Server was fantastic and seemed fairly new. Cool restaurant and tables spaced great. Cocktails fine after a 10-minute wait. Appetizer arrived and a minute later the salads showed up. 2 minutes later the meals show up and sat in the middle of the table. After being told they were out of 4 white wines we had requested had to settle on a bottle $ 20 more than our start point. It arrived as we were10 minutes into the entree which one was good though barely warm after sitting for so long and the other was downright awful (had 3 bites and put it on the side of the table). The manager ( I assume he was as he never formally introduced himself) only comment was "what can I do to fix this" listened yet never apologized and did not say much as I also ask that when a restaurants guest are trying to dine I felt it was inappropriate to have another server do a training session on how to open and serve wine to our new server, he kind of nodded his head and headed off to talk to the server. At least he removed my meal from the check. We had to also request they redo the check as had charged us for another bottle of wine we did not have. I really just hope this was an off night at Fable & Fire as we really like to support our local businesses. read more

If you're going for ambiance, it's a really nice and interesting. If you're looking for good food, wait for Zanata. The first thing served was iced tea that looked like yellow water, although the lemon wedge was fresh and looked beautiful. We started with the the crab cakes for an appetizer, and were impressed. I was encouraged and hoped the iced tea was abnormal. Then onto the lobster bisque, which had no lobster in it that I could identify. Also it was very thin. It was more like a soup, and the toast points served with it were stale. My wife ordered their burger at medium well temp which was burned on both sides. She tried to salvage it by scraping the patty, but it was too far gone. I ordered the shrimp and grits. It was average at best. The menu said that it included red bell peppers and sausage along with the shrimp. I counted three pieces of sausage averaging about 1/2" cubes. I'm not sure what kind of vegetable was in the dish, but I didn't identify it as bell pepper. My wife informed the server (who never introduced herself or attempted to connect with us at all). She did apologize for the tea and the burger. When the bill came, it was $68 for a mediocre lunch at best. I'm glad we didn't try it for dinner with the whole family! If I could, I would review it as follows: * Drinks - 5/5 * Atmosphere - 4.5/5 * Cleanliness - 5/5 * Staff - 5/5 * Food - 2.5/5 I am not sure if the cooks were having an off night but a few items were not up to par with the rest of the restaurant. I had ordered a Peach BBQ burger, cooked medium rare. It was still very pink in the center. I am not a huge fan of tartare so I had to send that back. The truffle fries that were served with it were nothing special. They didn't have any amazing flavor profiles, just tasted like plain fries. My wife ordered the Wild Mushroom Pesto pasta (which I ended up getting as well). The pasta looked and smelled amazing! But was definitely drier than we had anticipated. Overall, the staff handled our food situation very well. They were quick to replace my meal and apologize. The atmosphere was great! We loved the decorations and the overall theme of the interior. Everything from the bar design to the bathroom door design captured our attention. We would love to go back to try the food again, but if nothing else we could always just go for a drink read more

I had shrimp and grits and the grits were starchy and liquids, not creamy and luscious. Shrimp lacked salt and the dish lacked balanced in general. Ambiance was decent. Our first time here was good but tonight was awful. Waiter was rude. No substitutions allowed on your meal even if you can't eat the side. We were served a raw pork chop and just about everything else was burnt. In any other restaurant we would have at least received a discount. So if ever I post a review it is in hopes to help of new business out and not to criticize it! The restaurant business is super competitive and very difficult! First of all the atmosphere is the BEST in the city! The staff is nice but could use some training in regards to not bringing the appetizer, salad, and main course out on the same time. Moving on to the food, the tomato basil soup is the best in the city and I was very happy to see that they finally agreed to do half portions of the salad! I have ordered the trout twice and the first time it was very salty but the second a bit better, gorgeous presentation but not "toe curling " amazing. I think this great place is just trying to "iron out some kinks" . There are some things on the menu that are great, but others could definitely use some improvement! I would definitely request light on the salt or any main dish but also they have the best Hummus I've ever had FYI!!! I will continue to support this business but am hopeful to see some improvements in regards to what I mentioned. read more

This was my first time dining at Fable and Fire. The service was excellent, Our server Bella was extremely helpful when we had questions about cocktails and entrees.Our server had a recommendation for my partner's drink that tasted like peach rings! As far as entrees, I had the Ribeye, and my partner had the penne pasta with chicken, and both were excellent and left us full and satisfied. The decor was wonderful as well. Books, wood, greenery, and even vinyls were hung up around the walls and ceiling, creating a great looking dining experience.I will definitely be back for more! Thank you, Bella! read more

So the concept of this place is to pretty close to the perfect concept; books, coffee, cocktails, and bistro. I went for brunch on Sunday (so glad they've expanded their hours) and was sat immediately. I had brought a book so I ordered a glass of cava and planned to relax. I did order the shrimp and grits from the brunch menu and it was pretty good... I've lived in the Carolinas and had my fair share of Shrimp and grits, so these had a high bar to live up to - and they were tasty enough I'd probably order them again... I didn't get a ton of the smoked Gouda flavor from the grits but they were thick and creamy and were a nice compliment to the sauce and shrimp. I was there about and hour and a half and the dining room got very busy, but I was checked on quite a few times by both my server and other staff - so I felt well attended to. I plan to come back and see what it's like during the dinner hour, but overall it was a good experience. read more

We have been for coffee, brunch and dinner. The coffee and the almond croissant are both delicious! The brunch was underwhelming - specifically the eggs benedict. The yolk was cooked completely through so it was basically a boiled egg. We decided to give it another try with dinner and our friends all said their food was served cold (not ideal when your spending $30+ for a dish). My pesto pasta dish was very bland and lacked salt and I typically never add additional salt to my food. Lastly, they do not have high chairs for young children....so you may want to consider that when planning to go there. read more
