We have another quality Mexican restaurant in N Rockwall! I had the 3-taco plate with charro beans. They have 3 salsa options with the traditional lime, cilantro, and onions. The rice and beans had excellent flavor, and the tacos were fresh and flavorful. They are in the process of upgrading the interior, and it is beginning to transform into a cool space. Tried this place out. Was mostly disappointed. The guac was $3.99, for a small ramekin that was less than half full. Also tasted store bought versus freshly prepared. I got queso from the starters menu- $8.99 for a medium cup. I suppose that is the going rate for queso these days. It came w one small bag of chips, so i have queso leftover and no chips. I ordered a quesadilla- chicken, the menu said it came w/rice and beans. All that was in my box was lettuce garnish and pico and a dollop of sour cream and guac. I understand they just opened working the kinks out and all that and all that. Trust me I did food service for 10 years. I think this place will believe they are doing well at first just as new guests are flocking to taste it and check out the place, but I think they're gonna get very little return business. They might pick up one more little surge when they get their liquor license, and I'm sure they'll smooth up some details with time. Don't let my review deter you from trying it. But, the food is not that good. Little to no seasoning, dry, and not very warm. The pintos( no refried) are with cut up hotdog. I know that is traditional, and even with eggs, but the beans just did not taste good at all. The rice was very basic, no flavor either. I got the California mega burrito for $18. It was very small. I think some rice and maybe some beans and I thought I saw some meat on it. I immediately returned it and asked if that was correct and nobody knew what it was supposed to look like. They did refund my money. There's no fountain drinks just the bottled Mexican sodas. That's just not a good fit for my grandkids or my elderly mother. The tacos are street tacos, a tortilla, and a tablespoon of meat. They will give you cilantro and onions on the side again super dry. I went back and asked for a lime which did help. Maybe the sweets will be a solid offering. We didn't try any of it. There were a few other things on the menu, maybe something else is better. I could just tell by this experience that it's not gonna be a go to place for us and unfortunately, we live within walking distance of it. Personal note: we generally do not take or use or phones at the eating table. This place requires you scanning a QR code to see menu. So 1 you have to have a phone and 2 that doesn't work well with kids or elderly. read more

This place rocks. I'm a native San Diegan, Texas transplant and I eat Mexican food close to 7 days a week. I believe I have a very good grasp on what good mexican food tastes like. This place makes the closest resemblance of the California burritos I grew up on. Great value as well, the mega burrito seems pricey but you're really getting 2 decent sized burritos within that price. I live 50 minutes from here and whenever I am in the area I make an effort to stop by. Great work being done here, I hope people value this food and service as much as I do. read more

I've had their food mucho times but have never been here. The food is amazing! Came in with la familia on a Sunday afternoon. The staff is friendly and were working their tails off. I had the 3 taco plate with carne asada. All the plates came with 3 different salsas with different heat levels. The beans and rice are delicious too. The staff are extremely nice and offer samples of their agua frescas and ice creams. They have a beautiful selection of popsicles made with real fruit pieces. I ordered nachos with steak, nice big portion sure to fill you up and have some to share! They offered me a free dessert and I chose a scoop of pistachio ice cream. The ice cream is super creamy and has a great flavor. The cantaloupe Agua fresca was flavorful and refreshing, not overly sweet either. Let's support this new place, they have more than just tacos! We have eaten here 3 times and absolutely love it!!! The food is great, atmosphere is clean and welcoming, with three tv's to watch sports games! The owners make everyone feel like your old friends!! So nice to have a place to go to without going to the square if you live in north Rockwall. Can't wait to try the different flavor ice cream bars and popcicles!! My household is obsessed with La Vida!! We get togo tacos at least twice a week. The onions, cilantro, lime on top of the steak or chicken tacos is chefs kiss. They do not fall short on the protein amount in the tacos. I told my husband I could eat these tacos breakfast lunch or dinner bc they're so good. Conveniently located to our house, no better taco place nearby (and there's one close by that doesn't come close to the delicious-ness of La Vida). We will continue to be loyal customers! We've now visited here several times and the food and service have been very good. I realize this is still a fairly new restaurant, so maybe there were some early challenges that help explain a couple of the poor reviews that I see in the comments? Otherwise, I'm completely confused and I don't feel like the negative reviews are at all deserved from my personal experience. Service - everyone we've encountered have been extremely helpful, positive, and have provided great service. On our first visit, we started to pick up our trash and a young man rushed over and said, "no no, here, let me take care of that for you!". We've never had to wait long for our food and we've been checked on more than once to make sure we were happy and everything met our expectations. Which it absolutely has! The food is very good, well seasoned, and is much more authentic than I would describe compared many similar places we've visited. It has always arrived hot and appeared fresh - not rushed, not just slap a taco together with a bunch of ready and waiting ingredients and hand it across the counter. Their food, in my honest opinion, rivals or exceeds other restaurants in town. I was actually just looking up their menu information when I came upon these reviews and was surprised at a couple of the lower rated ones, so I felt the need to add my own opinions. Don't let any previous reviews stop you from giving them a try - we will be going back for more. read more

When it was finally our turn, they told us they weren't taking anymore orders because they only had one cook. Totally cool, no worries. We sat down and enjoyed some of their free ice cream when we noticed that they were taking other peoples orders... who were all white. Service was not great. Waited 25 minutes for our order to go and they didn't make one of our orders. Had to wait another 25 minutes for them to make again. Food was not that good. Would not go back. Too many other taco places near us. Won't be back. Not worth the time nor money. Update: once we got home with our food, the gordita was so rushed that the masa was still raw. This place just opened yesterday so we decided to go give it a try. You order at the counter, which is a little different, but it works. Service was great!! Salsa is a little different than your typical Mexican restaurant, but was really really good! Kids got quesadillas and we spilt the fajitas trio. Food was fresh and excellent!!! The food quality was low. The corn tortillas were too thick so we ate the meat and left the tortillas. The meat wasn't bad but our family would have liked to be served the food hot rather than warm, it was cold shortly after we received it. Lastly, the rice and beans were under salted.
