A week later and I am still thinking about the delicious food and fantastic service! We didn't wait super long for a table and the hosts were great. We took my dad to dinner and he complained that it was a little loud, but felt like we sat right under a speaker. I explained to him that it was part of the "vibe". Other than the volume making it difficult to hear, everything was fantastic. We probably could have asked to sit on the heated patio. The chips were warm and fresh and came with both red and green salsa, and both were super tasty. My husband asked if I could make salsa like that at home! We ordered drinks and they came quickly. I appreciated the quality of the drinks especially since we mostly ordered from their drink menu. We ordered "The Good Guac" to start and our server made sure that it wasn't too spicy or anything for my dad. I thought that was very thoughtful that she asked if how it came was ok. For food we ordered street tacos, Baja fish tacos and the parillada en fuego. The food runner seemed confused and brought us another dish (maybe the Verde molcajete) but with the loud music the message that we didn't order it was lost in translation. My husband thought maybe it was what he ordered and started in. Because our server came to check on us so quickly, she caught the mistake right away. She apologized profusely and said they were bringing what we ordered. They allowed us to keep the dish, and no sooner did we have a few bites of the deliciousness the correct food came out. They checked on us quickly, apologized profusely, brought the correct food immediately, let us keep the other food, sent another manager to apologize and finally followed up with coupons to return after making sure we were satisfied with how they handled it. I understand humans make mistakes, so I feel like the recovery or response is what is important. This is the type of amazing service that will keep us coming back. We were actually happy with the mistake as we were able to try another dish we likely wouldn't have ordered (but ended up being our favorite thing to eat). Went for lunch on Father's Day. ordered the sampler plate first. They ask if wanted everything on it, asked to sub beef for chicken flautas and then ordered crispy taco plate. Food came out quickly. The server disappeared for 20 minutes beverages empty. Tacos were TINY, with too much salt. Borracho beans, perfect. Empanadas on the sampler, were amazing, consommé underwhelming. Server dropped off beverages and disappeared for 20 more minutes, dropped off the check, left again for 20 minutes. Charged extra for beef, without telling us, came back and said all subs are extra, here is your card It was a busy and VERY noisy day. even at 2pm we had to shout to talk. Honestly, where do I even start? From beginning to end my experience at Vidorra Rockwall was probably one of the worse experiences me and the party I was with had. The hostess was proactive and friendly, but once me and 4 of my other girlfriends got seated is where the nightmare started. Our waitress Tania from get go was unprofessional, unfriendly and treated our table like is was a pain to serve us. The service was so terrible that we requested to see the manager 3 times, and she would say " No, no worries, I will take care of everything, no need to ask for the manager" We had our reservations were for 6PM, and we didn't get to do the actual food order till 7:15PM. I can go on and on about our horrible experience, but honestly it's not worth my time to continue with this Spanish soap opera. I been to Vidorra before and I had wonderful service, but this waitress Tania, really needs some customer service lessons. Our ladies's night out started and ended with a bad taste on our mouth. I have been twice. The first time I sat with friends at the bar and had dinner. The bartender was super, friendly and attentive, even when busy. The decorum is cool if you like fake plants. Though they add cool lighting, which helps. Food, well I wish I could give it five stars, but my second visit confirmed my feelings about the food. It's super spicy, and the portions for the price are crazy small. Don't count on sharing. So, if you can go during a happy hour give it a try. I've got a mixed review of Vidorra. At the end of the day, I don't think I'll be going back but that doesn't mean it was all bad. First, the good. Well, the good was definitely the chips and salsa. The chips were lightly dusted with some seasoning. I didn't take the time to figure out what it was, but it gave them a nice kick. So subtle but so significant. Unfortunately, my experience kind of dipped from there. Service was slow and a bit inattentive. I got the Molcajete parrillada en fuego. The literal translation is mortar grilled over fire. I should have asked what that meant because most Molcajete dishes are heated over fire. What it means at Vidorra is cook the meat, drop a hot coal in the mortar and put the cooked meat with a little mole on a grill screen over the mortar. It's basically a fajita dish served on top of the mortar bowl. However, it doesn't stay warm. Needless to say, I was disappointed. That said, the verde Molcajete that someone else got looked as expected. No one else (there were six of us) raved about their food. So, I'm in no rush to head back. read more

On a recent trip to Rockwall, my friends ate here for dinner and loved it so much that we all went back the next day for brunch. The decor is beautiful, prices are pretty reasonable (some items are overpriced in my opinion, but most are average to good for the quality), our server was helpful and friendly, our orders were made correctly, and everything tasted ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We especially loved the salsa verde that came with the big basket of complimentary chips & salsa. The other included salsa had a smoky flavor and was the less hot option. We ordered a frozen margarita, the noche tropical drink, the breakfast chimi, the chili con carne enchiladas, and the veggie enchiladas with some modifications to make it more veg friendly. All of their rice and beans contain meat, so if you're a vegetarian ordering the veggie enchiladas, ask to substitute a different side. They substituted a different side for me at no extra charge. read more

Wow, we decided to try Vidorra because we happened to be in the area, and I was not expecting this! The décor is really cool and actually reminds me of a place we used to go to that closed down--Hugo's Lost Colony. The outdoor patio and bar are amazing! It was a little warm when we went, but they do a great job circulating air and even have misters. I can only imagine how packed this place must get once the weather cools off. Tons of outdoor seating and the inside is huge as well. Service was spot on. We were greeted right away and went with the frozen house margarita (our server said it was better than the rocks version), and she was right--it was excellent. We also tried the guacamole. It was very tasty, but for the price the portion was a bit small, so I might pass on it next time. On the plus side, the chips and two kinds of salsa are complimentary--both were good, but I especially loved the smoky one. For my entrée, I had the three street taco plate with beans and rice. The portions were generous--I actually had a taco left over (and that's after filling up on chips and guac ). Pro tip: You can join the waitlist through Yelp. First of all, congrats for being busy, but if others have the experience we had, the crowd will start to thin out. We were seated on the patio, which initially didn't seem that bad since they had fans. Here's the rub. They seated our party of six at a table with a puddle of water from the earlier rain under it. My daughter's shoes, socks, and the bottom or her pants were soaked. When she complained to our server, he said ... "ok." Wait. What? Ok? How about taking that squeegee over there and getting some of this water out? Completely clueless. Then there were the flies. Don't get me started. So atmosphere and service "F." Now the most important part ... the food. Most of our party seemed to enjoy their food ok, but I had the Baja fish tacos. Zero flavor. They seemed really proud of their food but more attention was paid on presentation than taste. So the food "C-." I came here with my family for happy hour and we were seated with about 5 minutes to spare before it ended, which was a nice plus. The ambiance was lively but still comfortable for conversation, and our server Franklin was friendly and attentive throughout the meal despite how busy it was. For drinks, I ordered a margarita on the rocks. While it was okay, it did taste a bit premade and watered down rather than fresh, which was a little disappointing given the happy hour vibe. The food, however, was solid all around. We started with the loaded fries, which my family really enjoyed, and I also tried the guacamole and chicken flautas both were flavorful and satisfying. For the main course, Franklin recommended the trompa beef and pork tacos as well as the barbacoa tacos. Great suggestions, the tacos were tasty and well-seasoned, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time considering the restaurant was packed. Unplanned Friday evening date. We got there a little before 6 p.m. It was already kind of packed and steadily filling up. We were able to get a table right away, but about 20 minutes later, a line started to form--so it's probably better to make a reservation. As soon as we were seated, we were brought water, chips, and salsa. Our server came by within a couple of minutes to take our drink order. It took a little while to get our drinks, but considering how busy it was, it was understandable. The man ordered a beer, and I went with the Big Guava. It was a bit sweet, but tasty. It took a little more time for the server to return, but when she did, we ordered the birria empanadas as our appetizer, along with entrées--the churrasco and the Parrillada en Fuego--and a Don Julio flight. The flight came out with a sparkler, which was a fun touch. About five minutes later, all of our food came out at once, and the presentation was really appealing. The empanadas were absolutely delicious, served with a sauce and consomé. I didn't catch the name of the sauce, but it paired perfectly. The churrasco came with the smokiest, yummiest potatoes and was cooked perfectly for the man. My dish included BBQ chicken breast strips (with a little kick), jalapeño cheddar sausage, and short ribs, along with peppers and onions. Everything was amazing. The short ribs were a bit tough, but still flavorful. We decided to add the churros as our dessert. They were caramel-filled and of course delicious- just needed a caramel dipping sauce. The vibe of the restaurant was perfect for kicking off a Friday evening after work, and the food was excellent. We would definitely go back. We spent about $180 with tip. read more

The mix of cultures and creativity extended to the food is what made the Chile relleno (a Mexican restaurant staple menu item) a delicious unique item here. First, I just loved the atmosphere! Kind of tropical and cozy. My girlfriend brought me here for lunch. We had the queso that's served in a hot volcanic rock bowl lined with banana leaves that keeps it piping hot for hours. That was so good and so much that I had an order of chicken quesadillas that I only ate half of (very good by the way) and my girlfriend had one beef street taco (also good). We dropped in at Vidorra on a Saturday evening and discovered a great place. We sat at the lake view edge of the patio on a hot evening. It was a bit warm although they had misters and air movement. Oddly, screens and plastic plants in planter boxes obscured almost all view of the lake which was a shame, but later in the evening they also would block a hot sun. We had guacamole for a starter, for the price the serving size was disappointing- probably wouldn't order that again. Service was good and we lucked into a parking spot near the entrance. The decor is interesting but indoor seating can be full on a weekend, we had no choice but eat in the patio or wait a while for indoor seating. I've visited buddies in Addison & deep ellum, so naturally I was excited when a location opened in Rockwall. The ambiance & service is great, although it is quite loud inside. There is an outside area but I haven't dined there. The food is okay, I've had much better "Mexican" food and for cheaper. The birrias were good, but there was barely any meat inside and the consome it was served with was so small. I also ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas & it was just mediocre. I do recommend the queso with the chorizo, it was really good and still heats well overnight. The drinks were also good. read more

I was there for my nieces graduation dinner and it was amazing. We were first met by Carrie at the front door. She is so warm and inviting. Carrie helped us get a drink while waiting for our table to be ready. We were a little early. She recommended a wonderful margarita. Carrie is a treasure for sure. Our sever Hailey was so nice and took care of our big party effortlessly, she was wonderful also. The food is fantastic and I highly recommend. I really enjoyed our evening there. Our server said they are the second most ordered item on the menu and I don't understand why. Anyways, the margaritas are really good and the prices are fair. The food and ambiance is great, the service is really bad though. We've been there twice now and both times we received our food before they provided us with silverware. I asked one of the managers for utensils and even she had a hard time finding some, we she did find it, I had to step in front of her to get it, she just smiled and gave it to me without an apology. We looked around and saw other patrons experience the same. We ran out of water while eating, we had to flag our waitress down to order more water and we were done with our meal before she returned with any. They have a serious gap in their process, they have plenty of workers cleaning tables so they can get more people in but lack the attention to their current customers in order to provide a great dining experience.
