We did the flight, so we got three different juices and champagne, perfect. I was disappointed to see the menu online had breakfast empanadas, but they were just standard ones when we got there. The service was good and the place was packed, but I wouldn't come back.

My wife and I were in yesterday for our weekly lunch date. We were very happy to see that our favorite server Tim had a booth available in his section. We were about halfway through our lunch when the couple in the booth next to us started arguing with each other very loudly. Tim was trying to take their order when the female started yelling and cussing at him, for no reason. Tim took a step back and removed himself from the situation. They continued to scream and cuss at each other. They finally got up and left, so we thought. The male went to a car in the parking lot and the female went and sat at the bar. As the busser started clearing the table, they both somehow walked back up to the table and sat down like nothing ever happened. We watched Tim notify the female manager who was standing a few tables away of what was going on. There were several guests seated near by with children who you could tell were not happy with this couple in the booth,and their continued sreaming and foul language being used. We finally had enough of it and asked Tim to bring us our check. As we were waiting for the check not one time did this manager walk over to this booth to say anything to them about their behavior. Because someone is afraid to say something for fear of losing a customer, it has cost you more than just that. I promise you that we and the other table's in the restaurant spend a lot more money in this restaurant than they will. It is a real shame that managers are afraid to protect their employees and other guests from disruptive idiots. Needless to say, we will never step foot into another Mi Cocina restaurant. read more

MiCocina is our family's favorite restaurant! We have used the catering, large family gatherings, and our small family meals. We always ask for Kim but the other staff are quick to help or are good to serve you. Maria is another favorite! We are seated quickly and with enthusiasm. My children in particular love Kim, Therman, and Julio. Therman has done a spectacular job working with the cooks to insure my children have their food sensitivities and texture aversions done just right. This is the one place I can depend on and I can depend on my children eating. The food is flavorful and I personally love all the salads, tacos. enchiladas, especially the chicken ones. I loved the beef con mojo but believe they took it off the menu. That was one if the best selections. Their sea food selections are like eating candy. I think they are delicious. I don't drink alcohol but other family members love their margaritas are amazingly good. Micocina is perfect for adults and for parents with young children and infants. The atmosphere is family oriented or you can hang out with your friends. I personally rate Micocina the best restuarant in Rockwall County! We have been eating there for almost six years. read more

Girl's night out and we chose to eat at the Rockwall location, since it just recently opened. Regretted it big time! The prices are high, so you would expect the food to be spectacular. NOT even close to ok! The Queso was nothing to write home about and tasted like Campbell's Nacho Cheese Soup, lol. If I had wanted that I would have spent a dollar at Walmart for a can. I ordered the Cocina Changas and they were horrible. They were overstuffed with near raw onions and a few bits of chicken and they never brought the sauce. They do NOT have a soda fountain, so expect to pay per can with no free drink refills. This is a fancy restaurant.... who in this day and age doesn't have free drink refills???? And to top it all off, our waiter sucked and was very "uppity" and on an ego trip. My teen daughter's water had something floating in the top of it and when I asked him to bring her another one, he seemed very put out by that. If you're looking for a place that feels like home, Mi Cocina is hands down the best Tex-Mex around. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and it's one of those spots that's just never let me down. The fajitas are always sizzling hot, the chips and salsa are addictive, and I've never had a bad meal. Every time I walk in, I know I'm going to get exactly what I'm craving--tender, flavorful meat, fresh tortillas, and that perfect balance of spice. The staff is always so friendly, and the cozy, casual vibe makes it the perfect place to hang out with family and friends. I've tried other Tex-Mex places over the years, but none have the same level of consistency and comfort as El Camino Real. Whether you're going for a quick lunch or a fun dinner out, the food is always top-notch, and I always leave with a happy stomach. Walking into Mi Cocina, I was immediately greeted as the host opened the door for me and guided me to my table. When it was time to order, I asked my server, Timothy, about the difference between the regular enchiladas and the Sunset Enchiladas. He gave excellent feedback and clearly understands how to upsell. I ended up ordering the Sunset Enchiladas, and they were amazing, served hot and surprisingly quickly. Throughout my meal, Timothy was very attentive and made sure my drink was always refilled. The manager also stopped by to check on tables, which was a nice touch and showed strong leadership. At the end of my meal, I asked about the dessert options, and again, Timothy offered great recommendations. I tried the chocolate tres leches, which was delicious. Overall, the service was impeccable, the restaurant was clean, the food was hot and fast, and the management is clearly doing something right! read more

My husband took me out to Mi Cocina in Rockwall for Valentine's day. Our Server was Iesha, and she was so such a great server. Iesha was pleasant and very attentive. The meals and dessert we had were both spectacular. After the meal was over, I asked Iesha who the person I kept seeing, cleaning off tables, cleaning the floor, took the time to talk to everyone, answer their questions, literally helping everyone. The place was packed, and I didn't see him stop. I thought maybe he was a floater and that was his job. As it turns out he was the Restaurant Director, Thurman Bell. What a great way to show the employees, he too is not above working alongside them and that he was a team player. I recommend this company and can't wait to return. If I could rate this with a "negative" star I would, its that bad. As this restaurant was being built my roomate kept telling me over and over again how great the Mi Cocina in Dallas was, especially the fajitas. I went about 3 weeks after opening and of course ordered the 50/50 fajitas and couldn't wait. OMG! They were awful!! They arrived with no sizzle and had a strange ,dead, dry look to them. The waiter looked embarrassed. My one friend said it looked like a 2 week old dead squirrel on onions. It had about 2 miniature green peppers slices with the onions but no other vegtables whatsover. It tasted as horrible as it looked. My other friend ordered the same thing and complained to the waiter. My third friend ordered chimichungas and she said they were awful. Save your money. read more

I went to the Mi Cocina in Rockwall and we were greeted by Thurman. Very nice and warm man. Then our waitress Libby was awesome. She went above and beyond her job. Anything we asked for she went and got it with a smile. She gave us recommendations and brought us out things to try. The kitchen was a little backed up so when our food came out it was like warm. We sent the food back and the Manager named Fry came over and talked to us and took care of our bill and remade all the food. When I say I have never I mean never ever in my life had such impeccable service. Fry set the tone and we will be back. He was awesome. Mi Cocina you will see me again. Mico is a usual spot for my wife and I. Tonight, upon our arrival for a table of 5 we were told a 40 minute wait. Fortunately, we were actually seated within 15 minutes. Nancy was our server who we have had many times and really like her service. The fajitas arrived and I notice the meat portion was much lighter than usual. The manager Debra stopped by the table and without blinking addressed the issue and within minutes i had a whole new plate with an extra generous portion. Unfortunately, our bartender Xzavien was absolutely horrible. We got no greeting. Waited about 15 minutes and he finally came to the table, they didn't introduce himself, didn't offer us any appetizers nothing just straight, rushed. I get it. I work in the service industry too, but they weren't even that busy to where you had to act like that. I just expect high service because I've worked at Mi Cocina before so I know how it is to give proper service. This man needs to either switch jobs or switches attitude because there was not good. We had an incredible experience at Mi Cocina, and it was all thanks to Linda at the bar! From the moment we sat down, she made us feel welcome with her warm personality and top-notch service. Linda was not only attentive and friendly, but also super knowledgeable about the menu and drink pairings. Her margarita recommendation was spot-on and hands down one of the best I've ever had. The best food and service in Rockwall! We love Libby Lyons, who is like a member of our family. Every Sunday like clock work we go when the doors open and ask for our favorite waitress Libby! The moment you walk in the hostesses are so sweet and lead us to Libby even f her section is full. Libby is so sweet, attentive, funny, and a hustler! This is a higher end, not your typical Mexican Restaurant. It is sort of classy, but don't feel the need to get dressed up. Our waiter was Reece and he was awesome! Our drinks never went empty, and the chips/salsa seemed endless. The food is portioned well. I got the Cocina Changa and it is 2 chimichongas that are pretty good sized. I ended up with left overs. COCKROACH COCINA!! I AM ABSOLUTE DISGUSTED WITH THE SERVICE HERE. Excuse me, but I am extremely appalled by the level of service I have experienced at this establishment. To my dismay, I discovered a cockroach in close proximity to my table, and despite my immediate concern, none of the staff members made any effort to address the issue promptly. It was only after a considerable delay that the insect was eventually eliminated, and even then, the staff displayed a disconcerting lack of concern towards the situation. Rockwall has only a few restaurants that offer consistently good food, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere for a reasonable price. Mi Coccina is one of those places. Ronnie was our waitperson for our most recent visit, and he had the perfect balance of taking care of our needs without hovering over us and making us feel uncomfortable. My wife has very particular tastes, and Ronnie was able to tweak what was offered on the menu to bring her just the meal she wanted. Thank you Mi Cocina! One of our favorite restaurants in Rockwall. Not surprising since we have frequented the Mi Cocina restaurants in Dallas and Ft. Worth for years. Fortunately, our local Mi Cocina has maintained the same high level of service and food quality as those restaurants have always had. Have not found a dish that we do not like although the chicken enchiladas are a favorite of mine. My wife loves the brisket tacos. If you like margaritas, the Double Barreled Margarita is a must! We just got back from 2 weeks in Tennessee and the first thing we Wanted to do was eat at Mi Cocina. We love the restaurant so much. The food is great and the staff are the nicest and most helpful I have ever seen. The manager Thurman always welcomes us into the restaurant whether we have already been seated or just came in the door. The staff are just great. One of my favorites is Maria. This was my first time at this particular location and everything, from the service to the food, was excellent! Our server, Bernardo, was very witty. Street tacos please! Best in town. Mambo taxis are still my fav! There's several dishes from here that I could eat every day for the rest of my life. For entrees, we ordered the Trio Combo (tamale, chicken enchilada, crispy/soft ground beef taco) rice & charro beans; 6-count Nachos Texanos appetizer (beef fajita) - these reminded me of how ceviche is served because there was fajita aplenty on top n barely notice the cheese on the individual tiny Tostadas but tender YUM; Enchiladas Texanas plate (cheese); and, 2 Tostadas plate (1 beef/1 chicken). We cleaned our plates. I was impressed the most with my Tostadas... The ground beef was THE BEST! I LOVE A MESSY TOSTADA just like a greasy burger topped off with Mexican crema & queso fresco! The Spanish rice had good flavor and the refried beans too. Service was friendly. There's only one waitress for about 3-4 tables at the time but she was sweet and we were patient. The food came out hot and fresh. The prices are very fair for the portions served. I think this is a GEM of a place and I can't wait to try ALL DAY BREAKFAST and their Huevos Rancheros. There's room for big parties to seat 20 as well and also a few booths for just 2. My only complaint is how warm it was in the restaurant.

The relleno had a heavy coating. I probably should have stuck with ground beef filling instead. My food was fairly well seasoned, but nothing to recommend to another diner. Perhaps they changed cooks . I don't know. It'll be a while before I go back. My first couple of visits, the food was delicious! I hope things change for the better. Nice restaurant, sweet server. No one apologized or even remotely came to address the mishap. I suggested that maybe they should wear hair nets as food preps. While advising her another gentleman came in running his hands thru his hair. He didnt wash them or anything of the sort. He just went in to kitchen and started touching food and plates. Maybe I expect to much ....like hygienic and clean practices while preparing food. Maybe hair and sweat is a secret ingredient. All I know is I had a totally gross and unprofessional experience. I would say spend elsewhere because Senor doesn't care. Again the waitress was nice. But the nasty lady in the back cooking could sure use some teachings in food handling and hospitality.

Unfortunately the meal was nearly ruined because after a large party seated next to us left, one of the staff decided to mop around their table next to us using a 90% solution of Lysol which made our eyes water. All we could smell was hard core cleaner in the middle of our meal which was really off putting. I would certainly eat here again, but unfortunately what could have been a five star review became considerably less thanks to the smell of cleaning products overpowering the wonderful smell of fajitas.

The flavors of the chicken, pastor, and suadero were all on point, the two salsas were good and incredibly hot (as I expect from a good taqueria), and the sope was loaded up with goodness and nopales (just no salt). I like how they pack the onions and cilantro separately and give you plenty. My eight-year-old devoured her tacos, as did I. I plan to come back and try some breakfast tacos and a torta at some point. I like these guys, and I hope they make it in this location where others have not.

Despite being woefully understaffed, to the point that they were out of bowls for the salsa and started serving it in to-go containers, the staff was friendly and helpful, with the manager still making the rounds to introduce himself and check on people's experiences. I really liked the chips & salsa, and so did my girlfriend who is very spice sensitive. We had the, "Julio's Tilapia", which was, "Pan-seared tilapia topped with fresh sautéed baby spinach and jumbo grilled shrimp, finished with a silky spicy chipotle cream sauce. Served with rice and a crisp side salad." and the "GUIS-Ohhhhhh!", which was, "Traditional Mexican beef stew. Served with avocado slices, tomatoes, lettuce, & tortillas". The food was delicious, and I really thought the jumbo shrimp was great, and the Guisoooo (carne guisada) was deeply flavored, and very rich in a way I haven't had before. My girlfriend made sure to flag down the manager to point out what an exceptional meal she thought it was, and mentioned several times how blown away she was, and I quote her as saying, "I was expecting one thing, but I did not expect a foodie experience!". We sat at the bar area, which while not large, has taller tables which is helpful for me. The restaurant handled the huge volume of people well, and the food quality was great. We also ordered a cup of Queso Blanco - they say it was blanco but it didn't look white to me. ‍ I ordered it the appetizer Brochette Shrimp for my entree and this is where the magic happened - this dish was amazing. Veggies well caramelized, bacon crispy - these shrimp were perfection! I will dream of these shrimp and will absolutely return to have them again.
