First time coming here and asked the staff what I should try. The guy working was great and gave me a lot of options and told me what he hears. I ultimately chose the three taco combo and a slide of slaw and queso. I chose #12 steak classic, #13 chicken al pastor and #14 chicken pibil. I chose them since they are the three most popular. My cousin and are are both on the carnivore diet so we are always looking for a place to get plenty of protein without paying an arm and a leg for a full meal that we won't be eating. We both got a half of a chicken which was plenty, I couldn't eat it all and took some home. You order at the counter and they bring your meal to the table. I sort of expected paper plates and plastic silverware but was surprised they served on real plates with regular silverware. The waitress brought two containers of hot sauce one green and the other red along with a basket of chips. I had two, and my cousin had one but we used the hot sauce liberally on our chicken. It was a real challenge to have those chips in front of us for the whole meal and a real temptation, but we have had such good healthy results on this diet that we were strong and resisted. It is a nice comfortable place, staff was kind and helpful. It wasn't terribly busy and my cousin and I only see each other every three months so we tend to stay long and visit, which was no problem with the staff. **LUNCH REVIEW** ( 3.5) FIRST TAKE - This is a small mom and pop vibe. Two TVs in the dining area to check out games or whatever local news is on. Good seating for groups of 4-6, and booth seating available as well. You place your order at the counter, pay and then grab a seat. There's a number of choices from rotisserie chicken by the whole or half, wings, a variety of street tacos and even burritos and bowls if you'd prefer something in the lighter side. FEASTING - When you sit down they bring out complimentary chips and salsa, so that was a nice surprise while I waited for my meal (approx. 5 minutes) I ordered the roasted chicken and the classic steak taco. The roasted chicken was just ok. It was lightly seasoned, which is sometimes a good thing, but in this case, a few more shakes would have benefited everyone. The chicken was a little dry, and not as tender as I would've wanted but for the price ($10.99), not bad. It came with potato wedges that were spot on and the fireside slaw which wasn't bad at all. The steak taco came out on a flour tortilla which was a bit tough. Nothing special about the taco, but could tell they have something going for them if you get some good sauce to accompany them. It was like a shrimp cocktail in taco form. The Uptown chicken taco is a solid, delicious choice! Chicken is not dry and all the flavors just mesh well. I always go back to this one. It's a classic. They have a "taco of the month" and this month is the Yellow Jacket taco. It is amazing!! My fav thus far! It's crispy chicken with cheese, pico, and I can't remember what else but it was greatness. Located conveniently on an I-30 westbound feeder road, easy On-Off access. On a recent visit my husband ordered the Chicken Enchilada Platter with Green Sauce, Rice and Beans. He commented that the order was delicious overall, but the sauce was too spicy hot (for him) which of course required a slice of Tres Leche cake to cool his mouth. I sampled the Enchiladas and I thought they were delicious, and I thought the spicy heat was perfect. Next time he will opt for the Queso Cheese topping. I enjoyed the Fireside Salad with Chicken. I didn't know you could choose between flour or corn tortillas until I read some of the other reviews, but I agree to go with corn tortillas. The corn tortillas taste and feel very fresh, not sure if they make it themselves, but it feels like it! I love their green sauce. Beware it is very spicy!! We've been told their salsa and green sauce are homemade! I wish I had the recipe! This is definitely a mom and pop local restaurant. The owner is present every now and then. There is a small game room that kids are very excited about. My husband and I challenge each other to a round of foosball after our meal almost every visit. This place is a hidden gem conveniently located in a shopping center next to Walmart. When my date suggested it was the best place for tacos I was a little hesitant. He however was correct. The tacos were delicious and fresh. I had the shrimp, the chicken, and the beef. I chose black beans that had obviously been soaking and marinating and some deliciousness all day, Along with fresh vegetables as my sides.
