We had an excellent dinner last night at Norma's. Always delicious food and friendly service. We are a little over an hour away so we don't get to have it as much as we'd like to, but last night we were in the area celebrating hubby's mom's birthday. When she said she wanted Norma's or (another place) , I quickly jumped at the opportunity to have Norma's!!! Our meals constlusted of shrimp cocktail, chile relleno plate, and the sampler #2. An incredible amount of good with exceptional pricing! We ate nearly everything which was a whole LOT of food. It was so good, I'm craving breakfast tacos/burritos this morning. Thank you, Norma's for preparing an amazing birthday dinner for us! We've got to get to Garland more often. read more

Discovered this restaurant in south Garland. The family run operation produces an authentic dining experience. The food and service were above average. Recipes and taste were very good. Atmosphere is quaint and enjoyable. Traditional Tex-Mex menu with many dishes to choose from . Lunch today was cheese enchilada with crispy taco , rice , and beans. Chips and salsa were tasty. Ordered corn tortillas and they were served steaming hot and are some of the best I've eaten. Norma's is a good neighborhood Mexican food restaurant amongst many similar restaurants in Garland. Good hot sauce and the enchiladas are tasty. The service is always good. Not my absolute favorite but they do a pretty good business so obviously people like them! read more

Update on 6/27/2025 This is a true treasure in our neighborhood and in fact all of Garland. Been enjoying the food here for many years. Today is their 25th anniversary. Didn't know that until we walked in. They are running a special on their NBR 15 which is the sampler #1. So we both ordered it. It was excellent and we took home enough for another meal tomorrow! It was a crispy beef taco, two chicken flautas, chicken quesadilla, and a beef enchilada. Of course included rice and beans! This place is the standard for outstanding Mexican cuisine. We have never been disappointed in all the years going here. And it's right in our backyard! A true treasure! read more

This little gem is fantastic! I've been coming here since I was a teenager in the 90's until just recently moving back from San Francisco. Everything I've ordered has been delicious! Some of my favorites include the sour cream chicken enchiladas, combo fajitas, and the crispy tacos...and I ALWAYS get charro beans on the side. Yum! Another pro-tip: they have the best chicken soup...whether you're sick or not! The staff is always friendly & welcoming and they take the health & safety of their guests seriously. My favorite Tex-Mex Mexican food. Nice staff and excellent food. My wife and I have never stopped here, we have always wondered so we now know, we don't have to go downtown for great Tex-Mex. So what did we have: Two beef tamales, Cheese Chili Relleno, three meat (meat, chicken, and shrimp) fajitas. And..... flan! It came with lots of extras which the chips and sauce were very good as also the refried beans. Ate on it all weekend. Great to have a place so close to the house. read more

The food well, beyond the salsa, which is terrific, is luscious, and I highly recommend this restaurant, the service is wonderful, and the food is really great tasting! DeEtte tortilla chips are very tasty with just enough salt and they're very Whole, not just little tidbits? with a very hearty salsa to dip your chip in not to mention, they have vegetarian food, and everything you think of Mexican, and beyond that! Best Chile Relleno with Beef I have ever had in Texas! Full of lean ground beef, good portion and hot and fresh! Great service here and love their chicken tortilla soup as well! Awesome nachos. I recommend the half fajita/half steak ones with jalapeños. Haven't had much else here.

I visited this place last Sunday with the hope for a good chicken enchiladas, big mistake the internal temperature of my meal was cold the sauce was bland so was the chicken, the salad wasn't more than couple oz of iceberg lettuce with few small pieces of tomatoes. Presentation was very poor, the cook should be embarrassed to put out a dish like that. The positive: beans were ok, service was good, my Diet Coke had enough ice. I wish people were honest about reviewing restaurant so not other people get misled. read more

The service was great. The young man who took my order was friendly and efficient. He checked back a few times (not too many) to see if I needed anything. He gets a 5-star rating. The food was, well, OK. You will find better and worse throughout the DFW Metro area. Would I go back for the food? No. But if friends were going for lunch, I might join them and order something different, if not for the next item in my review. And here was the problem. False information. I checked their website for prices prior to going, and when I arrived, the food was about 25% more expensive. This is a deceptive practice. I ordered a lunch item and a drink. The bill was $15. And, no, this place is NOT worth a $15 lunch. Once you add the tip, you are approaching $20 for lunch. The deception comes in because they knowingly advertise lower prices on their website, and they believe that once you get to the restaurant and discover the higher prices, you will not leave. I believe that a restaurant should be able to charge what ever it wants for their fare, but don't lie to me just to get me in the door. Unfortunately they are going to learn too late, or perhaps they just don't care, that customers will soon move on and will tell others about the restaurant's deception. It only takes a few minutes to update a website so there is no excuse for displaying incorrect prices. Yes, I hear that restaurants are hurting. With the inflation problem, EVERYONE is hurting, yet it seems that Norma's wants to retain the same margins, make the same amount of money, all at the expense of their customers. They will have to take advantage of someone else. I will find a more honest restaurant. read more
