We have been here several times and noticed that the waitstaff is different I have never seen the same person twice!! We shared the crab stuffed mushroom app. Delicious with two large shrooms, but for the price three would've been nice. I had the grilled fish tacos. These were delicious, well stuffed with fish and slaw and a couple of avocado slices and rice on the side. I was full and well pleased with the flavors. Nice little spot just off the square in downtown Rockwall! The calamari with its slightly spicy breading was really good! My husband's fish and chips were also good, and the breading was nice and light. I loved the Oscar style blackened redfish with the huge asparagus spears! I also liked their wine selections including Pacific Rim Riesling and Miraval rose. We also enjoyed the key lime pie and banana pudding desserts. Hush puppies were dry and bland. Sauces were terrible. I'm so sad because this restaurant used to be so delicious. Quality of food is very bad now. I've only been to Pier 101 three times but it has quickly become one of my favorite local seafood restaurants. The atmosphere is always welcoming and inviting and the energy always feels celebratory anytime I go. On this visit I decided to try the coconut shrimp which included six jumbo shrimp and the coconut breading was so crispy and delicious and paired wonderfully with the sweet and tangy pineapple dipping sauce. The french fries were nice and hot and super tasty, there is nothing worse than cold fries and a Pier 101 that they never disappoint. My only suggestion on this would be that they also include a couple of hush puppies with the order instead of either or. Now their Pier Rum Punch was a nice little party in your mouth, the rum flavor was definitely there without overwhelming the fruity flavors of the drink.
