Blah in a word. We stopped by after finding Charlie's closed for maintenance. My first time here it was a Sunday and they had the game on. I ordered the house salad and jalapeño hush puppies. Food came out right away. Unfortunately my hush puppies were cold, so I sent them back. Replacements were hot, crunchy, with a real kick. Best item of the day. House salad was mixed greens, few croutons, carrots, and cucumbers. Dressing was good but at $8.99 nothing special for the price. Husbands catfish was not bad. It's a cute place inside, nice bar, and inviting. Our server, Erika, wasn't thrilled to be working, not rude but not helpful or friendly. Just a blah experience. No need to go back. read more

Very disappointed... first time walking into this restaurant... the staff was so rude and unwelcoming walked out and won't be returning. read more

Yum! Driving my mom home from dialysis and she exclaimed "seafood" we pulled in and had stuffed mushrooms with crab to start. The breading was not overwhelming and the flavor was on point. We ordered shrimp and oyster baskets. Jalapeño hush puppies were delicious and the battered fries were excellent. We will definitely visit again! read more

Love the hushpuppies more than we should! If you go on a day that they have their shrimp and grits you NEED those in your life. They are amazing! The service is always good. read more

The food is OK. There's a white selection of fried stuff. I did have a good salad. The ambience is very average. The service is great but it's just a boring place. read more

I don't know what they are doing with their Mac n cheese but it is bomb!!! Get their crab mac

I've eaten at Pier101 many times and realized today when I got lunch that I have never left a review. The service was very attentative, I believe they were having HVAC issues as it was a hit hot but not uncomfortable. The restaurant was fairly empty because we had a late lunch at 2 pm. The go-to dish that got us interested in Pier101 was the crab claws in garlic butter sauce. It was good today, but something was different than the previous times we had it when it was absolutely amazing. The lunch special was a good size (similar to the panera bread lunch special). The Alligator and Po'Boys were surprisingly not heavy. read more

We are originally planning on to go to a different restaurant in historic downtown but in the last moment change and we saw shrimp po boys on their menu. Even though we are continuously disappointed because nothing is like New Orleans We keep looking for a great option. First we have this ceviche which was huge and delicious. Alligator bites were tender. But all honestly the shrimp po boys were probably one of the better ones we've ever had outside of NOLA. Comfortable spot. Go. read more

The food and drinks have always been excellent. The staff have always been attentive. Very clean and inviting.

Good place to eat if you happen to be in Rockwall and want an authentic feel. The Place I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The place was somewhat empty and felt more like a place you'd find near a beach. Distressed wood and experimental plumbing. Food The food was pretty good with large portions. The hush puppies are good but they come with everything, including the sampler plate. That doesn't make sense except that it's a cheap filler. The stuffed mushrooms are surprisingly good. The pasta has good New Orleans style seasoning, while the catfish felt fresh. My only complaint is, pick a lane. I didn't know if this was a fresh water (it's near the lake), salt water or New Orleans themed place. That makes it harder to chose. Service Service was decent but not great for an empty restaurant with more servers than patrons. The bartender was directing traffic because the hostess and waiter were MIA. Not horrible service but not stellar either. read more

We loved pier 101 the first time we went and had to go back.. but this last time the food was not good. They changed the menu, didn't have many options especially for people with seafood allergies, and the food was bland. Our server was great but we waited FOREVER for our food. The scenery was nice but I'm not sure we will be back. We were disappointed. read more

We came here on a whim as I saw the place as we passed it in the car. I looked on Yelp and it had good reviews! Establishment looked clean. There's a bar with TV and fun music. We came before the dinner rush around 5 pm so it wasn't crowded yet. Their menu offered a lot of deliciously described discoveries. We ordered a cup of soup each for appetizers. My husband got the New England Seafood Chowder and I got the Cajun Seafood Gumbo. Both were very good. Then for our main course, I ordered a Combo Basket and I chose Crab Cakes and Coconut Shrimp with Jalapeño Hushpuppies, and my husband got the Crab Cake basket with fries. We planned on tasting each other's sides! Food came with the fun dips. I loved my dish and especially enjoyed the coconut shrimp and the sweet mango sauce it came with. My husband and I both had a crab cake left and some sides, so we bagged the leftovers up for me for work. I promptly forgot them on my way to the car, when I remembered them as we were driving down the street. I called and they said they didn't throw my leftovers away yet! Thank you!!! I'm sure people who've forgetten as I have ended up rushing back to get them as the food was delicious! I heated up my leftovers for lunch the next day and the aroma of the crab cakes made people jealous. Will come back again to try their other specialties. read more

Food was good but average, raw oysters seemed to be a hit with others. Ambiance was kind of like a dive bar. Service was average.

I love seafood!! What's better than boiled or fried seafood??!! Nothing!! HERE'S A QUICK BREAKDOWN...... Their shrimp basket was fresh, a little small with the portion size (I have about 15 more pounds to lose anyways, so I'm not trippin'), but still pretty satisfying. The seafood sampler boil, with all the seasonings combined, had an overpowering lemon flavor, but that didn't stop it from getting gobbled up! Nothing was overcooked PEOPLE!! The jalapeno hushpuppies did not taste as fresh as the other fares, but still had a pronounced combo of flavors....still a must have! The $5 margarita during happy hour is pretty legit; I would've preferred it to be a bit stronger, so the price was just right! Our waitress was nice....not overly warm or friendly, but she did her job well. That pretty much sums up my experience as a whole. I might return when in the area.... read more

This was the worst $20 for shrimp and grits. Shrimp were way overcooked and the Cajun gravy was just gross! We've been there a few times and it was ok but this was bad! My husband and a shrimp sandwich which was about a 3. It will probably be awhile before we go back! read more

Those that have read previous reviews of mine know I like to leave a detailed review. Pier 101 first caught my attention when I was trying to find somewhere local that had fish and chips. I noticed they were also Cajun so I now was on a double mission. First the good, the gumbo was authentic and delicious. However it did come with very little rice already mixed in. I prefer a pile of rice on top but overall it was really good. The Fish and Chips were mediocre. The fish was good but the fries are thick steak fries with no seasoning and were not good at all. The fish and chips were a lunch special at $22 so they were grossly overcharging. The iced tea was great. Loved the flavor and had about 3 full glasses. When I go back I'm sticking to the Cajun part of the menu, that is really their specialty. read more

First time here. Wouldn't be my usual hangout. Nice atmosphere. Love the bar. Probably a great place to eat after work or on weekend. Little expensive for me. And not a lot to choose from on the regular menu. They do have a lunch menu. Have an outside eating area. Not to loud. We ordered fried catfish basket and shrimp poboy Only 2 filets of catfish. Fish breading was to thick and fish had bones and wasn't to flaky. The grilled shrimp poboy was good. Except the bread needed to be toasted instead of cold. Service was just bland. Not very friendly. Will we be back. Probably not. Headed to the next place we've never been before. Terrell cafe is still on top. Or am I not eating the right foods!!! read more

Great service. Gumbo was excellent, but the shrimp etoufee was extremely salty, too salty to eat!

My friends and I ate lunch at Pier 101 today. Before going I read the reviews and the website. Let me say that this place did not disappoint. The atmosphere, food and customer service were impeccable. I will definitely dine here again, even though it is a 45 minute drive from Dallas. read more

I came here for a second time trying to give the place a reprieve. What is hard to find good seafood. I know that we are far away from the ocean but I am not exactly asking for fresh seafood, just good. We ordered Jalepeno Hush Puppies that came out to us cold. We sent them back and got replacements. Replacements were hot, crunchy, with a real kick. Best item of the day. My wife ordered a House salad was mixed greens, few croutons, carrots, and cucumbers. Dressing was the best part of the salad. Wasn't special enough for the price however. My catfish was not bad. It was flaky, crispy, and hot. Not too flavorful though. Our server, Erika, wasn't thrilled to be working, not rude but not helpful or friendly. Just a blah experience. This is my second trip with the same experience, so I will not be returning. Too bad as it is local to my neighborhood and is just a bad experience overall. Sorry. read more

I wish i had taken pictures, but the food was amazing! I got the shrimp tacos, which were huge! The shrimp was seasoned really well (just a little spicy, which I like) and there was a good balance with the cabbage and avocado. My husband got the shrimp poboy and side of andouille sausage. He loved it all! We also got the calamari and hushpupies as an appetizer and both were great and fried perfectly. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back. read more

Pier 101 looks unassuming from the outside, but the food inside is a treasure! The blackened scallops were well seasoned and fresh and the presentation was beautiful! The menu has plenty of options, but isn't overwhelming with too many options. Our service was excellent as well. read more

We went to have lunch to check it out. I will say that we were not impressed and not sure if we will be going back. We had the ceviche, which left a lot to be desired, it was too acid and the pieces of fish were too big for a ceviche. We also had the coconut shrimp which had good flavor, but when we asked for more pineapple sauce, they gave us cold sauce which doesn't taste as good as when heated as they gave us initially. We also had the fried fish, which was nothing to rave about. The service could have been better as it was not that busy for lunchtime. read more

Are at Pier 101 at pm. Enjoyed the Spicy Shrimp Cocktail and Crab Fingers. Daytime snack before going out. Great flavors in the dishes and great service stuff. Mojito is minty and delicious. The Cadillac Margarita is like liquid crack. The old fashion was sweet, but the Knob Creek Rye toned it down. I have never really posted about this great seafood restaurant. Good seafood is hard to come by in Rockwall... so safe to say this place blew me out of the water with a couple of the dishes I ordered. My favorite by far was the tilapia. It was served fresh and covered in a creamy delicious sauce. The kabob was covered in the same sauce but wasn't as good. The chicken was dry and a little too charred for me. The other dish that blew me out of the water is the crab legs. The crab legs are served with bread. Both the bread and crab claws were gone quick as the flavors of the toast pair perfectly with the buttery and cheesy crab claw sauce! I stopped in on Monday afternoon. The restaurant was quiet and we were seated immediately. The restaurant is located right off the square we parked in the square and walked over. I highly recommend the crab claws and tilapia. The chicken cabob not so much. Glad to have this place in downtown Rockwall! read more
