Okay, Wylie! I never eat anywhere over here but I kept seeing this spot all over Facebook. They have fans for a reason. Food was delicious and came out fast, crawfish was pretty reasonable at $9/lb when we went. It's true Louisiana style, not like a crab boil. The catfish with etouffee was really good, we were full but couldn't stop eating it. It tasted a lot different than other ones I've tried. My boyfriend loved the cornbread but I prefer them super sweet, almost cake like. This one was still pretty good though! We're in a super crawfish phase right now and will be back!

Our first visit here did not disappoint! The service was friendly, the food was delicious, and the restaurant was clean with great music playing. We tried The Dirty South -- amazing flavor and a generous portion. The boudin balls were packed with flavor, too. My personal favorite is always the hush puppies, and the complimentary cornbread was so good and buttery. For my main dish, I had the catfish, and the batter was perfect. Not one thing left me disappointed. We'll definitely be back!

NOLA style crawfish that you can't beat on this side of town! Love the service and the seasoning. 10/10 every time. The happy hour is also great. Feels like you're ima daiquiri shop in Louisiana. Good people good vibes!

This place is hands down the best eating spot in Wylie. Staff and especially the owner are super helpful and polite. I've got 2 picky kiddos and they leave their plates free of any crumbles. :) Not pictured is the corn bread and bread pudding. Both are amazing!!

The food here never disappoints! Tonight I tried the Michelada on their drink menu, and it was yummy. We started with the Crawfish Meat Pie, and I had the Crawfish Etouffee Bowl and it was delicious! Hubby had the Oyster Po Boy with a side of red beans and rice. Our waitress was great and the owner was super friendly. Wonderful place

Fat Cajun Combo $25.00 -- everything was delicious EXCEPT for the oysters. Read my review.. it made me sick :(

When you're paying top dollar for food ... (from a place like The South) you expect it to be amazing, right? Well, this restaurant is giving us culinary whiplash--one minute, it's great, the next you're left wondering if they dropped the ball! No doubt The Dirty South for $20.00 is a delicious deal!! The catfish is delicately blackened, smothered in a crawfish étouffée sauce and served over your choice of dirty rice or jambalaya. The homemade candied pecans sprinkled on top is a nice unique twist! "Yum" will roll out of your mouth with each bite! Why three stars? The Fat Cajun Combo was not worth $25.00. Although this dinner provided a generous portion of fried catfish (fried in a delicious cajun batter I might add), the shrimp and oysters were an epic failure. The shrimp were small and chewy (over cooked) and the oysters were fried but soft, runny, very smelly fishy fishy taste. Awful!! Since this was my dinner -- I ate more of the oysters than i should have. I know better. Then I paid the pipper -- I spent the rest of the night with a headache, stomach cramps and diarrhea. Maybe I shouldn't have eaten 3 of the oysters, but I kept hoping that the oysters would get better. The oysters was half the dinner, lol, I felt a lot of pressure to eat them because it was so expensive. Whomp whomp. The South was packed when we arrived on a Friday around 6pm. We had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated. Honestly, that was not a problem. After we were seated they forgot about us. It took them too long to take our order. That was a problem .. especially when there's only 7 tables in the whole restaurant. For such a tiny space, getting service and stopping by to check on the food should be a priority. If someone would have asked how we were doing, I would have said something. We will be back for The Dirty South when the mood strikes us, but other than that, we are discouraged to try anything else from the menu!

If I could give this place 6 or 7 stars I would. We stopped here for lunch after going horseback riding nearby. It's a small place with a simple concept and everything was very clean. The staff was very friendly and super helpful. I had the fried catfish basket. The catfish was a large piece of fried catfish served piping hot and the hushpuppies and fries were fresh and absolutely delicious. I got the swirled frozen daiquiri which came served in a bag and was very strong and very refreshing. One of the employees brought out a couple complimentary crawfish for me to try and they were so good. My husband got the chicken wings and let me just tell you I am still dreaming about them. Amazing wings. Huge, juicy, well seasoned perfection that don't need a drop of sauce. Saucing those wings would be an insult. I wish I saved room to try some of their dessert but alas we will just have to come back another time. Please stop by here and support a local business with some top notch food.

    Jambalaya balls were excellent!!!

I've been wanting to try this place for a minute. Finally found some time to rally the girls up and give it a shot. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The device was excellent. Owner and manager both came out to greet us, definitely a dying tradition in customer care. They were out of the jambalaya but the owner let us try the jambalaya balls on the house. They blew us away, loaded with meat and flavor these were a crowd pleaser. I had the fried shrimp po-boy, it was delicious..no complaints. As my side I got the gumbo which was also loaded with meat and hit the spot. We really enjoyed our visit and hoping this place stays around for a long time. Also wanted to mention that this place is giving back to our community which is a huge plus for me.

Ask the Community - The South

Is it there wait service or us it fast casual?

It's a good mix of both. You order, pay, and then grab a table. But the food is made to order, and the space is intimate enough where they still check on you regularly to make sure you don't need anything.

There is a certain energy in a restaurant when people trust it, and Creekside has that. We started with the crab and shrimp dip, which came out hot, creamy, and loaded with flavor. It is one of those appetizers that everyone at the table keeps going back to without even thinking about it. For dinner, we ordered the Red Snapper Alexander and the chicken cutlet parmesan, and this is where the night really took off. The red snapper was cooked perfectly, topped with sautéed shrimp in a white wine sauce that added flavor without overwhelming the fish. The balance was impressive, and the presentation matched what you would expect from a much higher priced restaurant. Then there was the chicken parmesan. As Italians, we do not say this lightly, but this dish stood out in a big way. Creekside blends Alfredo and marinara into a creamy, well-balanced sauce that takes a classic and elevates it. The chicken was lightly breaded, the mozzarella was fresh, and every bite delivered. We awarded this dish our Best of the Best for Chicken Parmesan, and that is something we reserve for dishes that truly separate themselves from the rest. Service was excellent throughout the night. Our server Erin was attentive, knowledgeable, and helped guide us to some great choices. One small note, the fish and chips did not quite match the level we had experienced on a previous visit. It was still good, just not at the same level we had come to expect. That said, it did not take away from what was otherwise a fantastic meal. If you are looking for a place that delivers an upscale feel without the upscale price tag, this is it. Great for date nights, family dinners, or just a night out where you want consistently good food.

Great value, atmosphere is nice, and service is consistent! Great stop with friends or family!read more

Fabulous and well-executed concept from the same company as Ferah Tex-Med at the Firewheel Mall…read more The interior decorator did a great job. It feels kinda bbq themed but upscale. I liked it alot! First off, I love waiters who know the menu. She gave lots of details to our questions. The bartender also amazing. They accommodated my daughter's request for a non-alcoholic, frozen pina colada, which she loved. The hibiscus herb margarita is something I want again and again. Food items we had and recommend: - the Mexican chopped salad with shrimp and guacamole - the loaded nachos with brisket - the brisket tacos I saw other reviewers complain about the brisket, but I wholeheartedly disagree- I thought the meat was tender and flavorful. No one actually seated us -- we were just pointed toward a table. No menus were given. Cornbread was dropped off, still no menus. I eventually had to get up and grab them myself from the host stand. They apologized, but even then, they simply handed them to me instead of bringing them over. It wasn't busy, and I'm extremely patient -- I was a server for years -- but this was frustrating. It took about 10-15 minutes before anyone came by. Our server was friendly, but he didn't write anything down for our party of seven, and we ended up repeating our drink order. That should have been the first sign of how the rest of the night would go. We ordered the platter ($23), and the portion was surprisingly small: two BBQ meatballs, two mac and cheese bites, queso, and a tiny basket of chips. The food runner who dropped off the meals was rude, and the portion sizes overall were shockingly small for the price. The only dishes that felt worth ordering were the penne pasta and the pork chops. The short rib tasted great, but for $30, the portion was extremely underwhelming. When we ordered another round of drinks, mine was forgotten -- again, likely because nothing was written down. I had to let our server know it never arrived. He apologized and came back to say the bartender was busy and working on it. The bartender eventually brought it out personally. What really added to the disappointment was that the server noticed we had gifts and asked what we were celebrating -- but this was after we were already paying and packing up. I had noted on the reservation that we were celebrating Mother's Day, but even without that, it's something you typically acknowledge at the beginning of the meal, not at the very end. And based on other reviews I've read, this seems to be a pattern: instead of genuinely trying to fix issues, they either apologize in a way that feels empty or blame the customer for their experience. So I'm sure they'll have something to say about this review too. Can't wait for the response. Do better. Also, be aware -- because they do NOT mention this -- that parties of six or more are automatically charged a 20% gratuity. With the level of service we received, it felt unfair. If you're going to charge high prices, the service needs to reflect that. It didn't. We won't be returning. And honestly, the 1‑star reviews are accurate. Just prepare yourself. $400 dinner for lack luster experience ‍
