I eat at Cotton Patch Cafe at least two times a week. There is a couple of stand outs i think need to be rewarded for there great service. One is Boz Beckstein every time i came to him which is not often he has solved my problem. Also there is a new lady that works there my be the first night but wow am i impress by far the best service i have ever receive new are 20 year employee . The food was great as always could not be more satisfied .The young waitress was nice greeted myself and wife with a smile and was perfect after that. Yes and her name is Heidi . BEWARE!!! Excess tips are taken on credit card charges. I went to dine at this restaurant. I had very, very poor service. Even though the service was poor, I still gave a tip to the server. The server then chose to add an extra tip and overcharged my credit card. I brought this to the manager's attention. I did not even get an apology. I finally received a credit back to my credit card for exactly the amount I was overcharged, nothing more. I reported a theft and all I got back was what was stolen, not even an apology. Haven't been to one of these in maybe a decade. Very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very kind and our waiter John was truly wonderful and interacted with the 2 young kids we had with us. He was fast, helpful and very kind. The food was so good. Apps was fried green tomatoes and brisket queso. Chicken fried steak, fried fish for entrees and the children had chicken tenders and Mac n cheese with 2 sides each. My son scarfed down the rolls (the boy likes bread) my grandson started with his fresh strawberries then on to everything else. My wife and I were visiting Texas and had come to the conclusion that people in the greater DFW area don't eat vegetables unless you count french fries (I'm just kidding - not kidding). I looked at the negative reviews but many of them seem to be during the time of Covid or related to takeout orders - so we decided to try it. We felt right at home. The waitress called me "baby" and "Darlin'" The food was excellent. The service quick. The manager came by twice to make sure everything was good. The Chicken Fried Steak was excellent - it tasted like it was fresh breaded and it definitely was real meat, not ground or chopped. The fried okra was excellent, the green beans could have used more seasoning and perhaps some bacon or fat back but they were good. The garlic mashed potatoes were well done, with skins and not over powered with garlic. The squash casserole had sugar in it -- and I'm not used to having it sweet, but perhaps that's a Texas thing. First and last visit! Stopped in for a quick lunch. Two orders chicken strips and one ordered a burger... not very busy and still took about 25 minutes to get our food. One of us never got our salad. The chicken strips and burger were both dried out. Fries soggy, baked potato not feeling cooked, and Mac and Cheese was massive disappointment. Ordered BBQ sauce, ranch, and sweet chili sauce at the time we placed our food order. Only ketchup arrived. Told the person who delivered our food about that and the missing salad and she never came back. Told our primary server when we finally saw her an received sauces about two minutes before we finished eating. She did offer to replace the salad at this point but didn't want to bother at that point. No attempt to offer discount or speak to manager though we clearly didn't have a good experience. Seating process was great, they we're doing well COVID wise, but it took 20 minutes from the time we we're seated for our server Joseph to take our order/even acknowledge us. We have eaten at several Cotton Patch Cafe's in the past. First time at this one. We ordered Online and picked up. The server who brought our food out to the car was very kind. However, the order was messed up. We quickly looked at noticed a couple things missing right away. She offered to take it back inside and check it for us. Husband said to me: I have an idea: Check it BEFORE we bring it out! Like DUH. She brought it back out with the two items included now. We drive home. Sit down to eat and there as only FOUR shrimp, not the 8 I ordered (and charged for the 8, yet too far away to go back and have them "check it" and fix it AGAIN), and there was ZERO gravy on the mashed potatoes I ordered. They had mishandled the deliver bag, so there was wet liquid stuff all over our food container, and bottom of paper bag. Not a good first impression, when the order is totally messed up - and when that messed up order SHOULD HAVE been DOUBLE CHECKED BEFORE they ever brought it out to the car. Bad business. Would not recommend. I give them TWO STARS because the food, as usual for COC, tasted good. Service was kind but quite faulty.
