It's Texas and there are SO many other better options. Food, not good. Service was alright, workers were friendly. Ambiance was good. Restaurant was clean. read more

Food is ok but always stale or dried out buns and prices steadily increasing with less food. Small containers for thier sides. Ribs were dry and to salty. So many better barbecue restaurants than here, just have to drive little longer. read more

We had the chicken, the brisket, the ribs and sausages and the hot sausage as well as pulled pork sandwich - everything was so good!!!! Defly recommend having bbq at Soulman's. read more

For general casual barbecue, this was pretty good. Got a nice big helping of very tender brisket. The cream corn wasn't very creamy, but honestly I wasn't going for the sides, was I? The brisket was a bit bland, but for the price and convenience it was as good as I would have expected from this class of restaurant. read more

it was soooooo good and still piping hot i was so hungry and i also got mac n cheese and put it on my potato with the barbecue ranch it was after work too so it really hit took a fat nap after read more

Consistently great service and food. We can always count on a good experience when we visit. A staple is to grab some baked potatoes and bring them home for dinner. read more

A very nice lunch experience! Traveling back home from Dallas, this was a very convenient off and on of I-30. The food was very good. My wife loved her chopped beef sandwich and my ribs and brisket were tender and smoky just like I want them. I wish they had a lunch menu with lunch-sized portions, because we both left food on our plates. We'll definitely be back when we're passing through again. read more

For a fast food bbq experience this place was very good customer service was beyond friendly. Food quality was solid. Had the brisket, sausage and pulled pork and was great when paired with the spicy bbq. That spicy bbq was on point one of the best I've had. The baked potato was heaven. Best I've ever had. The topping on the cake was the soft serve ice cream which was amazing. Definitely would go back and have it again. read more

Called ahead to Order on phone was left on hold then hung up on. Drove there went in wasn't greeted seemed as if I was bothering the workers. Made my order but was constantly cut off while talking . Baked potato with all the fixings hot bbq sauce two chopped beef sandwiches . Potato was thrown in plate upside down so didn't close properly . Wasn't given any sauce so now we have dry meat to eat . The butter was wasted all in the bag all over the sandwich and my hands before I made it to my car. Received no utensils wasn't thanked almost felt like I bothered them by going there . Never again I'll drive further and patronize the other location. This is sad and I'm mad about wasting my time and money on such a terrible experience . Terrible Only thing good is it was clean inside everything else was a negative 0 read more

Terrific food. We had the party room and it was lovely. service was excellent and kind. great experience.

Great BBQ place. Best in East TX. All their locations are equally good. Their meat cutters always get my order right when I order lean. UNLIKE SMOKE SESSIONS, which never get your order right. Soulman's is the best and you won't be sorry you are with them.!! read more

im a fan of bbq and usually a fan of Soulman. today the brisket was mostly fat, the potatoe salad was mostly mashed potatoe, and the pinto beans just tasted terrible. a swing and a miss. I won't be back. read more

Quality consistent!! Friendly people. I highly recommend Soulmans. They have several locations in town

Food was good, hot links are hot. Walking in the smell of BBQ and smoke is present and warming. Great regional BBQ stop off while in town to see a customer. I really enjoyed the chopped brisket sandwich and sides. Just enough food for a hungry appetite. Would definitely stop in again. read more

Hubby and I were driving around trying to decide what we were hungry for and on a whim decided to pull in here and try it! It's delicious and we were not disappointed ... the Soulbowl was awesome. We substituted chopped beef for the sausage and pulled pork in the bowl and we're happy with the decision. Also we got a few sides to try since we hadn't been here and again I was pleased with the choices (mac n cheese, spicy potatoes and creamed corn) and grabbed a bowl of banana pudding. I love sweets and this was my favorite part of it! Banana pudding is out of this world so do yourself a favor and try it!! read more

The double barrel is my fav. Don't forget the buttermilk pie!! Great service. Attentive, friendly. We will be back!

Poor quality. Okra was way over cooked. Corn wasn't cooked enough. Potato salad was whipped and warm. Over priced for such bad quality food.

The worst 5 to 6 times reheated standing over the fryer Okra. I even asked for fresh fried okra. I received Greasy, stuck together, hard and tasteless okra. read more

I wasn't too sure as to what to expect. I almost expected anything Texas barbecue to be amazing. I found myself disappointed with the quality of the food. Especially since Texas is supposed to be known for their beef and the brisket was very disappointing, almost like it was boiled or steamed instead of smoked. I felt like the best part was the pulled pork out of all of our meat options. The sides were okay but nothing amazing. Overall, I left feeling like it was a mediocre fast food style BBQ joint. The staff was extremely friendly and the place was clean. I don't think this place will have me satisfied when looking for that Texas BBQ place. read more

This was our 1st time at Soulman's. We saw it off the interstate and thought it be good for lunch. Well long story short it was a great decision. The 2 meat plate was much better than burgers. The chopped beef sandwich, ribs,& sausage were all good. The chicken was a bit dry. read more

Soulman's is a great fresh BBQ place with a home town feel. The meats are fantastic and the sauce is perfectly spicy but not too spicy. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The menu options could be better. More combos at $10 would be great. A one meat combo with no bun would be perfect. Also no tea available during COVID . read more

Have visited many Soulman places many times. This one was below par for Soulman's. The team members were not interested in keeping things in order as others places run by Soulman's. The food on the line was not appealing. Several folks close to us made similar comments. read more

Stopped in Soulman's last night for a quick bite, (take out order). I purchased the special of the month which was half a chicken w/two sides (Pinto beans/Cabbage)pickles, onions and peppers. I had heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, which made me avoid it for some time. However I must say the chicken was tremendously juicy, flavorful and tender. With a lovely smoked flavor, crisp skin accompanied with a tangy barbeque sauce. As for the sides I won't say they were out of this world, as they both lacked seasoning. Therefore I will say the cabbage were different then what I am use to. With red pepper and sausage added for some color and additional flavoring. The pinto beans I could have done without, even the salt and black pepper didn't help. I will return for some delicious chicken without and sides. read more

This was a lunch stop. I had a small problem with the cashier but the person who I think was the manager took care of it. The food was ok for BBQ. I would not run out and tell the family about it. It is a step below Dickies. The best part was the side order of corn. It was just the right spice. It had jalapeno in it. Over all, a decent place for a quick lunch time stop if there is nothing else available. read more

40$ for 2 meat meal and 2 small sandwich meals that come with side and drink. no one wearing a mask appropriately. I will not be back. I did t want to risk this but my mom just died and people were hungry. I won't do it again. I even asked her to please wear the mask appropriately she just stared at me. The other guy had his under his nose. One guy had a white T-shirt around his face. Get it together soul man. You may help cause us to get locked down again. Be part of the solution. Food is subpar for price. Ribs are chewy fries over salted and okra mushy tasted a bit older. Fries were hot and fresh tho salty. My husband is sad because soulman was his favorite bbq place and they closed the one in Southlake. EDIT: GM reaches out to me and he did review cameras in the store and agreed that it was completely inappropriate behavior. Offered is a GC for 50$. We requested a refund if the 40$. Thank you for reaching out Brett. Thank you for making sure employees, who are young understand the masks are to protect me. Not them. I wore mine. Please all i ask, is that you as well, wear yours. read more

Soulmans BBQ in Rockwall is darn good. I always leave there feeling stuffed and happy. On a typical weekday lunch at Soulman's around 1pm there is a short line to get up to the ordering lady. I told her what meats I wanted and she began cutting them up in front of me. They have a nice selection of meats, but no-one could eat a portion of each of them in a single sitting. Sides are there buffet style, you add them to your place yourself. Fresh fries on request were a nice touch, and they were VERY good. The sauce is light and spicy as you would expect in a Texas BBQ place. Price is a smidge high, which is typical, so maybe its just average? LOL. Good BBQ is never cheap. Iced-Tea was great and loved the small condiment station with fresh pico, pickles and peppers. The restaurant is basic, but inviting and the booths are plenty large for bubba and the kids to chow down. This is a worthwhile place to eat some good basic Texas BBQ in Rockwall, and is likely the best BBQ option in Rockwall city limits. read more

Soulman's Bar-B-Que - Barbeque Near Me - Rockwall, Texas

I've recently became a big fan of Texas BBQ! I see this place everyday i drive on the fwy so I decided to read up on them on the web. I signed up for their e-mail list and they emailed me a free coupon for a sandwich ($5 value) I decided to check them out tonight. I got the brisket sandwich with a side of fried okra. It was my first time having fried okra - interesting texture. The batter around it was pretty thick so i felt like I was just eating fried batter and didn't taste much of the okra. I didn't know what it was when i first saw it and the guy helping me gave me a sample to try. I decided to get a side of it to go with my main course. BRISKET: off to the important part of the meal. i opted for the brisket sandwich. There was great heaping of thinly sliced brisket on a toasted (hamburger-like) bun. They also gave me a side of warm bbq sauce. I think that was an important key to the bbq - having warm bbq sauce slathered over the meat - it really makes a difference! I first tried the meat without the sauce - its a little dry. I personally prefer my brisket to be cut a little thicker, this was almost like a deli style slice. However, they did give you a great amount of food, they are not stingy on the meat. So with the coupon I just paid for my side and it came out to $1.61. Not too shabby for dinner! This place is easily accessible right off the frontage street with ample parking in front. The restaurant is like cafeteria style set up, you walk up order and pay and have the option to sit down and eat. read more

I've been coming to Soulman's for the better part of 30 years. Unfortunately, they've steadily gone down hill the larger they've become. Last night was the absolute worst. Ordered a whole slab of ribs to go, and they should have been embarrassed to even think of presenting them to serve. Once home, it was obvious looking at them they were overcooked, but then to bite into them and have the bone break off with the bite is the worst. The spicy beans now are a lot of pinto beans with pico thrown in as an after thought, as opposed to slow cooked w/the veggies and a meat. Sad. read more

Pleasantly surprised. Had a chopped bbq sandwich. It was so delicious smothered with their bbq sauce. They have a wide assortment of sides you can choose from and I opted for the mashed potatoes with gravy. (Not bad, but seemed to be lacking in flavor a bit). I would definitely go back and try the sausage or sliced brisket next time. read more

Managed to make Bar-B-Q as bland as I've ever had it. My daughter's ribs ended up being decent enough, but the brisket was dry and tasteless and the sides had to be drowned in condiments for any taste at all. read more

What an absolute joke we go in person and order and everything is fine but as soon as I try to use doordash Uber eats or any other delivery service they end up shorting me items on my order and it's every single order I talk to the manager after it happened the 6th time and they said it's the way that they print out the delivery receipts that cause a part of the order to get cut off....what a joke I spoke to the district manager and he was less than concerned I guess it seems to be their business model that if you pay for 100% of the order and they only give you 75% of it then they're doing very well he seemed to laugh it off like it wasn't that big of a deal he was very rude and very condescending and had little regard for the trouble that me and my family were going through so I am not going to go back to this restaurant ever again and I suggested if you're in Rockwall Texas you scare clear of both locations read more

Gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never go here. Just not good BBQ. Nothing is appealing to me---not the dining room, not the food presentation, not the food taste, not the service.
