This was our first visit. At 5pm it was already packed. We had a dog so we were served on the patio. There were fans that kept the temperature pleasant The complimentary bread was warm and fresh. I ordered the shrimp duo of fried and grilled shrimp with smoked Mac and cheese. The shrimp were delicious. The cocktail sauce was spicy and the tartar sauce tasted homemade. So it's ironic to me that in the state of Texas and in Rockwall one of the best places to get a steak is at a steak chain restaurant yet here we sit. Salt grass is consistent. You walk in and you know what you're going to get here. Good service and good food! They're the epitome of a Texas restaurant with the decorations and ambiance. I'll say this, their Thanksgiving dinner kit that we got was absolutely amazing!! So keep them in mind when you're not in the mood to cook for several days for Thanksgiving. Lunch with friends, the service was very attentative. First table was like a rocking chair and was moved to another. The bread, salad, and baked potatoes were spot on. Early Dinner Menu appealed to us; Vaquero Tacos, and a Salmon Caesar Salad with iced teas. Warm light wheat bread was brought out, decent snack. Vaquero Tacos were very juicy & tender, good seasoning, with a savory salsa. The sweet potato fries were awesome too! Grilled Salmon filet atop a Caesar Salad was okay, the lettuce was a bit old, but plenty of shaved cheese and dressing helped me chew thru this. Good visit, and the crowd here was having a good time. We went here for my bday dinner. We hadn't been here in like 7 years and thought maybe a little cheaper than roadhouse. Unfortunately it was not at all.. we had the fried mushrooms which were actually pretty good. However they were expensive. I ordered the grilled shrimp and hubby ordered steak. The steak was ok. It was an u even cut so half was med rare and the other half was well. Errr... my shrimp.. my shrimp... well my shrimp was like rubber. I waited for the waitress to come back so I can tell but she never came back. I had to stop another waiter to help us. They took it back and then our waitress showed up . I told her the issue and she said she would wait for the next shrimp to cook. When it was done I'm assuming it was one of the managers that brought it to me. I tried a bite and again it was like rubber. I'm thinkin it was just old shrimp or cheap and it was never gonna taste like real shrimp. U know that nice pop when take a bite. I did get to eat the sweet potato that came with it. Also we noticed the way the person who sits people being so rude to someone that didn't want to sit in a busy isle. The vibe of the atmosphere is definitely two or three steps above Longhorn Steakhouse if I were to compare it to another restaurant. We started with the brisket queso. Delicious! Salty but delicious! My partner ordered his usual, which I didn't get a picture of, ribeye, house salad and a baked potato. Flavorful and delicious as well. I ordered salmon and Brussel sprouts. DEE-Licious! Happy Hour @ The No Bull Lounge (The Bar area) 3p - 7p was great! There is also an early dinner menu offered until 6 if you are looking for something a little more than appetizers and drinks. We tried almost all of the appetizers (half off during happy hour) and loved everything. Bartenders were friendly, attentive and kept our glasses replenished. The wait staff delivering our food items were nice and kept us laughing. Bar area was quaintly situated, not overcrowded, and not so loud that you need to yell. We noticed a variety of visitors dinning in and picking up to go orders. We also ordered food to go, arrived promptly and with a load of the in house bread and sweet butter. They've got excellent chefs, and a variety of turf and surf on their menu. Their menu has changed in a small way to keep up with the customers likes or dislikes. Their T-Bone or Porterhouse steaks are a couple of their favorites. They also offer grilled chicken, salmon and redfish. The ambience is casual, but remember to make reservations on the weekends if you don't want to wait or you come with a large group. Went to Saltgrass on 11/15/2025. The food was fantastic but I noticed the team. The waitress was on top of everything. She passed by and ask if I needed another drink and her Co worker/ runner said I'll put the order in for you. Really impressed with the team effort. The management was fantastic as well as they visited our table twice to check on us. Big shout out to KB at the rockwall location. Personally, I think this place is over priced. I wasn't impressed with the food at all. I feel like you can get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse for a much better price. I went here with a few friends and things were okay. There was a few mistakes by the waitress, but nothing to get overly upset about. My buddy and I ordered basically the same meal except I got the bigger steak and like mine cooked medium-rare while he likes his steak cooked incorrectly. When we got the food, the bigger steak was overcooked ( the way he likes it ) and the smaller steak was cooked my way. We told the waitress, but I think we confused her. She immediately got the manager who also seemed lost a little. He did give us a $10 credit on the bill. Again, the mistakes weren't that bad. I just couldn't get past the prices. read more

I had a terrible experience here. My husband and I came in to celebrate something insanely special and our day was ruined because of this restaurant. The moment we walked in, the host was at the post, and she didnt look up for greet us for a 30-45 seconds. We just looked around awkwardly. It was the longest 30-45 seconds ever. She looks up and doesnt say anything at all so my husband said "uh table for 2?" And she just grabs the menu's and starts walking. We followed her because we assumed we needed to, not because she ever said anything. She walked super slow. It was awkward. The restaurant wasnt busy at all and all guests were at booths. She took us to a table in the back of the restaurant and my husband then asked "could we get a booth please?" She stood there for a second, starts walking away slowly without saying a word, starts talking in her radio and slowly (and im not exaggerating when i say slowly) says "I'll tryyy". Then immediately takes us to a booth to seat us. We sit down and she stands there without saying a word. I felt sooo uncomfortable, I couldnt even look at her. It felt like she knew me and hated me so she was being a mean girl for no reason. As if we were rivalries in high school or something. She grabs the menu and slaps it open on the table, going page by page slowly and talking (I'm assuming talking about specials they had?) but we couldnt hear her at all. She was talking very slow and quietly like she didnt give a fuxk. Then she slaps the menu closed and walks away. I didnt even want to be there anymore because I felt so unwelcomed and uncomfortable. We were visiting town as well and went out if our way to come to this restaurant to celebrate and it was such a wasted experience and meal. I didnt talk the whole time besides when I ordered because I felt so uncomfortable. I questioned if she was racist, if the restaurant was racist, if she hated the way i dressed. Again, I'm not from here. So we have never met in our lives. So yeah. Terrible customer service. Terrible experience. I dont recommend. I was too afraid to speak to a manager because I thought maybe the entire staff is racist or something based off of how the host treated us. The hostess left much to be desired personality wise, but everyone else we encounter were extremely friendly. Our waitress, I believe her name was Bailey, was absolutely great! We never had empty glasses, she checked on us frequently, and took great care of our table. Ask for her, because she was the best! Entrees included steak, burgers, and chicken sandwich. Steaks were all cooker perfectly and I heard no complaints about the other food. I will say their steak add ons are expensive for what you get. I ordered the chimichuri & mushroom add on and it came in a small steel container, like what ketchup comes in, for $6.95 (shown in picture).
