Fried Fish

Amanda was very welcoming and has a great staff. She arranged for Makala to be my waitress. Ordered the fried fish combo. No lunch menu but ordered the small and it seemed like a lunch portion. The filet was served with French fries and a delicious jalapeño hush puppies. The tea was good and they made me one to go ! Nice home cooking establishment with a loyal following.

Corn and Chicken Fried Steak

Service was spot on. I decided to try this because I never been here before. My wife has plenty of times with meeting family and such. I started out with fried mushrooms as an appetizer, mainly because they so good. Would suggest to ask for extra crispy, you won't regret it. A good amount was plated and even the wife had some. She had the Texas Caviar, to my surprising -- it was great. For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. I was able to swap out the green beans and mashed garlic potatoes for corn and apple cinnamon. Both were great choices. Corn just needed some butter. Fixed it with some butter from the rolls. The cinnamon apples made me think of a nice fall day. Prices were great. Ambiance was just a comfy feeling. Definately will be back. Pictures were of half eaten food. I didn't think about taking pictures when served. Just too hungry I guess.

Chipotle Maple Chicken and Super Combo Fish & Shrimp

The honey maple chicken was pretty dry and really sweet. The fish and shrimp were pretty salty but paired very well with the delicious tartare sauce and cocktail sauce. The mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were on point and good too. The restaurant itself is pretty decorated and just a lot of open space. Our waiter was kind but the credit card machine the waiter carried around was not working so they had to check out the default old way which wasn't too much of a hassle. Not a bad spot.

Hey there, my fellow YELP Foodie Fam! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cotton Patch, and let me tell you, it's the perfect spot to indulge in some delicious bites with your loved ones. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance and decor set the stage for a cozy and inviting experience. With a mix of tables and booth seating, you'll feel right at home. Now, let's talk about the menu. It's a food lover's dream! From mouthwatering appetizers to fresh salads, juicy burgers, comforting comfort foods, delectable sandwiches, and even a tempting selection of seafood, Cotton Patch has something to satisfy every craving. And let's not forget about their specialty desserts that are sure to leave you wanting more. During my visit, I couldn't resist ordering their famous chicken-fried-chicken, accompanied by a side of broccoli rice and green beans. My nieces opted for the kid's burger with French fries and steamed broccoli. However, I must admit, I was a tad disappointed when they didn't have the brown gravy for my chicken-fried-chicken. You know how it is when your favorite dish isn't complete without that perfect gravy. But hey, sometimes life throws us a curveball, right? Although we decided to skip the appetizers this time, I must mention that their fried pickles are usually a must-try. And as for the drinks, I couldn't resist ordering a refreshing peach beverage that never fails to satisfy my taste buds. Now, let's dive into the main event - the food! The chicken-fried-chicken stole the show with its perfectly fried and moist goodness. It was a true culinary delight. On the other hand, I wasn't entirely blown away by the broccoli cheese rice. It seemed to lack that fresh broccoli crunch and leaned more towards cheesy rice. However, the green beans were decent enough. But what truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service we received. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Despite the crowded restaurant, the staff managed to go above and beyond to take care of us, making us feel like valued guests. All in all, Cotton Patch is a spot worth checking out if you're in the mood for some tasty comfort food. Just be sure to cross your fingers for that elusive brown gravy! Until next time, happy dining. I forgot to mention you get free yeast rolls.

The service was a bit slow and the floors were sticky but the food was delicious Or at least I thought so. at the end of the day, we were happy enough with the portions and the prices. I think my favorite part of the meal was the fried green tomatoes but we also enjoyed the fried mushrooms Turkey and dressing, All the flavors of The Taste of Texas tenders, and the brisket chicken fried steak. I did read some of the other reviews posted before my visit and I have to say that I didn't personally experience anything To the point where I wouldn't recommend The Cotton Patch but with that said it may be a hit-or-miss situation where I just happened to be there on the right day at the right time and your experience may vary. I did give them three stars based on my experience there, I would have given them more if the floors hadn't been sticky and the service would have been more expedient *Poor *Decent *Good *great *Best *JLFoodie Certified Food. Great Service. good Cleanliness. decent Consistency. good Variety. Good Value. Good

My chicken finger basket. Disappointed in the size of some of the fingers.

My daughter had the Moline Rogue, her fiancé a gin and tonic, my wife a red wine, and I went with the Fig Paper Plane (which, I'll admit, I forgot comes in a pretty fancy glass, lol). All of the drinks were excellent. We kicked things off with the hummus and bam bam shrimp. The hummus was delicious and very smooth, but we did run out of naan bread pretty quickly. We asked for more and didn't realize there was an additional $5.50 charge. Not a huge deal, just something we would've approached differently had we known. Dinner overall was very enjoyable. My wife had the miso salmon with Wade's Brussels...great flavor, though the roasted carrot purée leaned a bit salty. Our daughter ordered the grain mustard glazed salmon, which was very good, just slightly heavy on the mustard (easy enough to work around). My future son-in-law had the blackened shrimp pasta...rich, flavorful, and no complaints there at all. I ordered the market catch, which was Chilean sea bass. Since it's Lent, I requested no bacon. The owner personally came out to explain that the bacon was incorporated into the lentils that accompany the dish, and they were more than accommodating in offering a substitution. I went with the carrots with chili crisp, which turned out to be a great alternative. Aside from the slightly salty purée and the surprise naan charge, everything was well executed. The service stood out, especially the attention to dietary needs, which was very much appreciated. Overall, a really enjoyable dinner, and I'm already looking forward to coming back, next time to try the market catch as it was originally designed.

Belle Vie Bistro

Saturday night dinner at Belle Vie Bistro was very nice! I honestly would give it about 4.5 stars,…read morenot a 5, as that implies perfection. But they are definitely making the effort to deserve respect. First, we were seated promptly and our server was very responsive, so much so that we hadn't even had a moment to peruse the wine menu before she arrived. I would recommend that the servers be trained to bring water and the bread and butter without asking in order to offer the guests a chance to settle in for a moment. (Fresh french bread and good butter, by the way. I don't usually indulge in that, but I had 2 slices.) And if a guest asks to sample a wine, the answer is always "Yes." They are going to order wine, they just don't know if it will be that one. Both my wife and I started with side salads, which were great. Very fresh greens, and dressings that were obviously made in-house and delicious (awesome lemon vinaigrette on the bistro salad and a truly great Caesar dressing.) I should mention that their wine selection is made up of good labels you probably drink regularly, with a few neat additions that are worth a try. My wife ordered the grilled salmon cooked to her preference, and it was served that way. She really liked the lemon sauce with which it was served, along with risotto and al dente veggies including squash, zucchini and carrots (well seasoned.) I had the duck confit, and it too, was very good. Mashed potatoes made in house (again, well seasoned) with the same grilled vegetables. I appreciate many things about this restaurant. Frankly, I don't understand why it wasn't packed. The lighting is nice, the music is just perceptible so as not to be intrusive. The service is very attentive, and the food is really good. The price point is reasonable. The most expensive meal on the menu is about $35, but they offer plenty of great options for less. Having written a brunch review for this restaurant before on Google, I noticed that they take the input from their clients seriously, and I appreciate that. This is a place that is putting in the work, and it shows. I forgot to mention that they have a barista on staff even in the evenings, and pastries that are made by an actual French pastry chef (I indulged in the Croissant Aux Aumandes on our previous visit, and it is absolutely legit.) Parking on the square in Rockwall can be an issue, and Belle Vie is in the middle of the block, so maybe it is somewhat overlooked, but it is definitely worth a visit. I'll be going back pretty soon for the lamb at dinner time. I also want to try their French onion soup and French dip. You should go. You won't be disappointed.

Don't get the steak if you care how it's cooked…read more I ordered medium well, it came out medium rare. The waiter asked if I would cut into it to check other parts. I refused because I just needed to jiggle it with my fork and knife to see that it was underdone. They took it back and it came back half medium and half slightly over medium well. What's killing me is that I was told that they had checked it the second time and I could see several cuts on the steak (that's crazy that the chef/cook had to figure out doneness that way). But one of the openings in the steak was clearly medium, which he later affirmed. So, I'm not sure what they checked before! The non-bloody parts of the steak did taste good, though. So, if you don't care about doneness, go for it. Also, they had weird plating on the steak. Go for the board or go for plates but this awkward plates on a cutting board means you delicately try to not knock anything off. Pro tip: scrape it all onto the board The calamari was tasty except the plate was half fried zucchini. Slick move to get $16 out of me for a tempura plate. Otherwise, service was pretty slow although the restaurant was maybe 1/4 occupied. I had my doubts since the spot a couple doors down had a one-hour wait. Should've trusted my gut.
