This was my review for this restaurant 2 years ago

Captain D's, at 6327 Broadway Blvd, Garland, TX 75043 Tues night after working 12 hours I wanted a quick meal. I ordered the 5.99 2 piece fish promo. When I arrived at the DT window I was told my total was $6.46 I gave the cashier my credit card after swiping it she told me she needed 2 pennies. I thought this was weird because I check my card and credit daily so I'm aware of my credit and card balances. I asked for a receipt and she called the manager over. He (Nathan ) asked for my card again she swiped it and gave me a receipt for $5.60 I was like this is weird. I pulled forward and checked my transactions on my cc and notice 2 pending charges. I parked went inside to talk with the mgr (Nathan ) I asked him what happened he loud talked me and said out loud (for everyone in the dining room to hear)you didn't have enough on your card to cover $6.46and your card didn't go through. He apologized jokingly stating I didn't mean to say that out loud ( but he meant it). I explained to him there's $9,000 balance on this card I'm sure there's enough. He continued to disregard me being disrespectful. I ask for the corporate office number he explained that it was a franchise and he was the contact person. I did receive a credit because I returned the fish. However never an apology. I've been going there for years because I like their food. It's seems as though there's some shady business practices going on with management and staff. I did also contact their corporate office. Beware check your receipts and ask questions if something seems suspicious Captain D's, at 6327 Broadway Blvd, Garland, TX 75043 Tues night after working 12 hours I wanted a quick meal. Ordered 4pc chicken and this is what I got. Paid $9.68 and didn't even get a thank you. What a rip-off. Probably my last visit here!!

Better than Long John Silvers. We had the Sample Plate and the Catfish Feast. Glad they opened one up in Garland, TX.

Do NOT recommend this place , employees will overcharge you and then mess up your order at least TWICE, especially Bianca.

This is just Louisiana Fried Chicken, you can see there is another entry in here with that name and the reviews are not nearly as kind. Service was perfectly fine, the place is small but seemed clean enough. There endeth the passable things. I ordered spicy fried chicken 3pc (LWT), red beans and rice and a pint of gumbo (holy trinity, chicken, sausage, crab and shrimp - more on that to come and it isn't good). Those are a trinity for me, if you will, when sampling and then judging Louisiana fried chicken places. So, Enter Sandman... I got food poisoning, which is an automatic 1. I don't like to give them out, but for extreme circumstances; this being one of those circumstances. The food: The fried chicken was not golden brown it was dark brown, which says old oil/grease. It was bitter, but edible. I ordered spicy, and if they consider whatever I got as spicy, they need to dial it up. I detected no spice. The lady at the counter asked if I wanted hot sauce, I said yes, but it didn't meander its way into my order. The red beans and rice... I don't know what kind of black roux they use and how hard they cook the rice for it to be this mushy. It smelled like it should be good, but I had to add my own Cajun seasoning and some Tobasco to liven it up, even still it was more of, "I paid for it so I'm going to eat it" at this point. Popeye's RB&R is WAY better, and that Popeye's on the corner isn't even a good Popeye's. Now what I believe to be the criminal, the file seafood, chicken, sausage (note I didn't say Andouille, because this was straight up garbage Eckrich). It was a pint, and it was almost black (me assuming because they made a file gumbo, now I'm not so sure). It was packed with a thick mush of *mostly*, onion, celery and green pepper. Scattered among them were stringy pieces of boiled chicken, 2 or 3 pieces of sausage, I did not identify if there was indeed any crab in there because I never saw it and two soggy ass fried shrimp on top. I should've just tossed the whole thing in hindsight. I did pitch the shrimp. I didn't trust how they looked. I dumped the pint (it had that odd colored overcooked rice too), i added quite a bit of water, brought it to a boil, reduced to simmer. I had to add seasoning to this as well as some tobasco. I ate about 1/3 of it or so, then just pitched the rest. *a few hours later (said in that French accent you're now reading it in)* I'm pounding Nauzene, and pounding the toilet. Let's say, oh... about 8 -9 hours? The easiest way to explain how long. As the very unpleasantries began, I put on John Wick, I watched all 4 before finally being *done* and able to go to bed about 0500. Suffice to say, I will not be back. I give this two thumbs down and a raspberry.

Lava Hot Chicken - NEW: Hot Chicken Tacos!

Just had my first visit to Lava Hot Chicken and it did not disappoint…read more Such a great lunch spot--portion sizes are solid for the price, and everything came out fresh and flavorful. Jason ordered the Lava #1 (2 mild strips) and I got the Lava #2 (2 hot chicken sliders). The "hot" was more of a medium kick, while the mild still had great flavor without much heat--so definitely approachable for anyone easing into spice. I also helped myself get some mac & cheese since it was a cold and rainy day, but to be honest I probably would've gotten some mac & cheese anyways. Delicious! Also have to shout out Alex--super patient, helpful with the menu, and honestly just great service all around. He anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask, which you don't see often. Really made the experience even better. And I have to add--I'm usually not a fan of crinkle fries, but these were actually spot on. We'll definitely be back!

New spot in Rowlett, TX behind the CVS at Dalrock Crossing Center…read more I tried the next-to-hottest level of spiciness, and not even as spicy as Chiloso's. Very polite & helpful counter staff if you are not familiar with their menu. For regulars, self-ordering is done on the screen on the counter. Take-out, or delivery boxes are sturdy, and sealed with a big sticker. A buddy gave me his coupon, I had never tried Lava Hot Chicken before. So, to get their new Hot Chicken Tacos.... You MUST purchase a #1, #2, or #3 Meal. I got the Sliders meal to go with the 5 tacos deal. Got home, everything stayed warm in these boxes, and the spiciness was not as hot as the hype! Good ingredients, good bite & chew on the white chicken meat tenders. Buns were soft, fries were a bit hotter than the chicken! Hot Chicken Tacos were decent, the flour tortilla had a nice texture, did not fall apart, easy to eat! I did not try the Maple Waffle fries, sounds delicious! Desserts are cold parfaits; crumbled Oreos & creme, or creamy Mocha BEERS in bottle or can, sold for dine-in only, must have ID. Sodas, juices, waters, and Ice slush drinks. The facility was spotless! Two very clean restrooms, locking, ADA complaint. Simple small tables for 4. Outdoor umbrella-covered small tables. The urban spray paint "art" theme is not seen around here, is very colorful. Parking situation is cramped with popular Chiloso's nearby, so be careful of others in a rush. 4 stars because of the narrow menu offering, BUT adding Cold Beers bumped it up to 5 Stars, well played!

Some would call me a tortilla snob, lol! The tacos come out fast and hot. It's simple yet incredible Mexican street food. I love spicy, so if you do as well, you need to try out their chicharron tacos. The salsa on their chicharron tacos will light you up but be so addictingly full of flavor that you can't stop eating! If spice isn't your thing, you need to try out their carne asada tacos, as they are also flavorful and addictingly good. If I'm being entirely honest, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu, as everything is delicious. PS: Their salsas are perfection. I can't even describe how great it tastes because you must take on that flavorful journey yourself. The only downside is that their location could be better for large parties, and since their food is INCREDIBLE, I would love to bring a large group here to eat. Unfortunately, the dining area is merely several yellow booths with no extra chairs, so about four people can sit together at a time. What's unique about their service is that they set your food out fast and hot. So if you are starving and want to eat soon, this is an excellent spot. Taqueria el Primo is a hidden gem within the DFW area that will quench that craving for authentic Mexican street food you've been needing.
