We live all the way on the other side of DFW and had to pickup a car in Rowlett so thought you stop and have a bite. Decided on this place because it was close to our destination and we're very happy with our choice. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and the single patty cheeseburger with fries and tots. Everything was really good! I like my fries and tots crispier so can't rave about them, they were meh but the burger and chicken sandwiches were really tasty. They are small compared to other places but for us the portions were perfect. Wouldn't make a trip specifically back just for the food but if on that side of town I would go back again.

Hat Creek! Or as I like to call it, "hipster McDonald's" This is a good fast food restaurant for families. The wooden playground and country-esque feel are a sharp contrast to the usual brightly colored plastic play equipment at other places. They emphasize Texas beef in their menu, but they carry a veggie burger and tater tots as well. They have about 4 different beers on tap and a nice selection of frozen treats featuring gummy worms. The guy who took our order was quite amiable and the service was fast (as expected.) I have to take away a star because on our last visit, the place was crawling with flies. Not just one or two... easily a dozen. Yikes! Still, if you're not too fussy, you can't beat this as a place to bring your kids.

I used to be a big fan of Hat Creek but man have they gone downhill. honestly I don't know if it's all locations or just this one but our visit was not great. Our french fries were Cold and tasted like they had been sitting around for a while or maybe cooked in Old Oil or something. I'm not sure what it was but it wasn't a pleasant flavor or Texture. the restrooms were in poor condition and overflowing trash even though they had plenty of employees working at the time we dined in. one of the major selling points for me with hat Creek used to be all of the sauces but even those don't taste the same, they just aren't it anymore. Now I know everybody is suffering from higher costs And in most cases I don't mind that as long as the food is good but in this case it just wasn't worth the price. small portions high cost equals no good. so that will probably be the last time I ever dine at Hat Creek burgers

Ordered pickup - 2 krabby patty meals and a kids grilled cheese. everything tasted great! only reason im giving 4 stars is because I ordered sweet potato fries but they gave me tots instead. First time trying hat creek and the sauces were yummy. Will have to go back to take my kiddo to the playground!

The Ambiance for this kind of facility was fine. Clean table, floor and restrooms. Plenty of room for a bigger crowd. Children outside playing. They have one TV with sports playing if you are watching sports. The drink station is a great idea but seems to be located in the wrong area. There is always a back up and crowded with people once they place their order. The receiving hot line needs a little help as well as you cannot hear the orders being called. I am hard of hearing and makes it worse to hear our name called. There should be some kind of sound system to let the customers know their order is ready.

Great burgers, sweet potato fries, fried pickles and of course the playground for kids to burn energy. Also caught me by surprise but they serve draft beer, which was pretty great.

Wanted to get something to eat with some solid protein, because I was having a medical procedure the next morning that I had to fast for. Went to the Hat Creek in Rowlett to get a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. The hubs got the Turkey Burger. I needed a microscope to find the chicken patty. It had been pounded thin and then overcooked. Absolutely by far the smallest chicken patty I've ever seen. It was about 2/3 the size of the palm of my hand and I have small hands. (Yes, I put it on my palm to measure it!) Probably weighed about 1.5 ounces. It was just as chewy as it was small.. Bun was about 4". Not even close to what is pictured on their website. My tomato slices were bigger. It wasn't great but wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But it was still pretty pathetic. The hubs enjoyed his turkey burger. We split an order of sweet potato fries which were yummy-as usual. We sat outside since the temps were pleasant. It was fairly dirty out there; food under tables and sticky tabletops. Had to stop at Wendy's on the way home to get something to eat after eating at Hat Creek. Surely they can do better than this! Overall I like their food so I'm sure I'll go back for one more try. I doubt this is their usual way of doing things, but they really should take a little more pride in what they serve.

I ordered the Hubbard's omelette with ham, mushrooms and swiss cheese. For my sides I had the pan fried potatoes (home fries) and buttered toast. I had their coffee as my choice of beverage. The omelette was delicious and gigantic! I did not expect it to be this large. It was stuffed with ingredients and quite fluffy. The pan fries were cooked perfectly. Added some salt and pepper and ketchup and they were great. The toast was toasted just right and they put plenty of butter on the bread. It was melted and gave the bread a nice buttery flavor. The coffee was good and the refills came quick and often. I am not a fan of strong coffee so what they serve was perfect. Our server was very nice and checked on us every so often to make sure we were doing good. Never had to ask for anything and as I said before, the coffee refills came quickly. This is just Louisiana Fried Chicken, you can see there is another entry in here with that name and the reviews are not nearly as kind. Service was perfectly fine, the place is small but seemed clean enough. There endeth the passable things. I ordered spicy fried chicken 3pc (LWT), red beans and rice and a pint of gumbo (holy trinity, chicken, sausage, crab and shrimp - more on that to come and it isn't good). Those are a trinity for me, if you will, when sampling and then judging Louisiana fried chicken places. So, Enter Sandman... I got food poisoning, which is an automatic 1. I don't like to give them out, but for extreme circumstances; this being one of those circumstances. The food: The fried chicken was not golden brown it was dark brown, which says old oil/grease. It was bitter, but edible. I ordered spicy, and if they consider whatever I got as spicy, they need to dial it up. I detected no spice. The lady at the counter asked if I wanted hot sauce, I said yes, but it didn't meander its way into my order. The red beans and rice... I don't know what kind of black roux they use and how hard they cook the rice for it to be this mushy. It smelled like it should be good, but I had to add my own Cajun seasoning and some Tobasco to liven it up, even still it was more of, "I paid for it so I'm going to eat it" at this point. Popeye's RB&R is WAY better, and that Popeye's on the corner isn't even a good Popeye's. Now what I believe to be the criminal, the file seafood, chicken, sausage (note I didn't say Andouille, because this was straight up garbage Eckrich). It was a pint, and it was almost black (me assuming because they made a file gumbo, now I'm not so sure). It was packed with a thick mush of *mostly*, onion, celery and green pepper. Scattered among them were stringy pieces of boiled chicken, 2 or 3 pieces of sausage, I did not identify if there was indeed any crab in there because I never saw it and two soggy ass fried shrimp on top. I should've just tossed the whole thing in hindsight. I did pitch the shrimp. I didn't trust how they looked. I dumped the pint (it had that odd colored overcooked rice too), i added quite a bit of water, brought it to a boil, reduced to simmer. I had to add seasoning to this as well as some tobasco. I ate about 1/3 of it or so, then just pitched the rest. *a few hours later (said in that French accent you're now reading it in)* I'm pounding Nauzene, and pounding the toilet. Let's say, oh... about 8 -9 hours? The easiest way to explain how long. As the very unpleasantries began, I put on John Wick, I watched all 4 before finally being *done* and able to go to bed about 0500. Suffice to say, I will not be back. I give this two thumbs down and a raspberry.
