I have visited many Texas Roadhouses in various states and this one in specific, twice previously. The service has never disappointed with great ambience. Previously I have always rated this place as a 5 star but sadly the ribs were quite dry this time around (hence only 4 stars) although the 8 ounce sirloin was cooked to absolute perfection. Came through on a Saturday evening and was able to get a table without a wait. Our waiter, who was extremely friendly, made a suggestion about adding chili to the potato. He even went as far as bringing a sample and more than one spoon although I wasn't the one asking about the chili (we ended up adding chili because of this). The food was good, however one of the steaks seemed a little fatty and needed to either be trimmed more or cooked better as there just was a lot of fat on the plate. Then they took it back to recook And literally brought out to my husband an already cut up steak in pieces because your cook doesn't know how to cook a steak properly at a steakhouse!?!?!? Management at this location is awful. We had a group of 9 there to celebrate 2 birthdays. The restaurant would not seat us because only 7 were present with 2 more almost there, even though the table was ready. We waited (not long), maybe 5 minutes until they showed up. At this point they made us wait some more and then tried to seat us at 2 separate booths. We were not happy. The "roll" girl got an attitude when we asked her about it. Host dude, is a guy that cracks jokes with other workers that want to work. Tries seat us at a dirty table, then grabs a busser to wipe it all down, soaking wet! Wow. I find table napkins to wipe table & seating dry 20 minute wait to place our orders, but new waitress is very professional, and realizes that my 88 year old Mom can only hear on one side. Sharp young lady. 25 minute wait until food ordee arrives. My P-bello chicken was left too long on one side, tough like a boot! This place is a hoot. I've heard about Texas Roadhouse but never actually stepped foot in one in all my years here. The rolls really are as delicious as they sound, the cinnamon butter that comes with it is incredible. I had to deduct some stars from our experience just because it could've been prevented. We were seated at the bar which we didn't mind and have a very lovely server. The food came out hot and correct to order. But there was some really loud barking from a big dog at the bar that none of the staff seemed to do anything about. I believe it could've been a service dog but it was really distracting. We ordered the smallest portion of steak since we weren't starving when we got there. Also had the potato skins as a starter. Both were great, lovely mashed potatoes, but the green beans were an absolute miss. They came slathered in an oil that gave a fishy smell and what seemed to be uncooked bacon. I very very rarely send food back but we had to let the server know it wasn't edible. Seemed like a fun crown watching the finals around 9pm on a Wednesday. It was LOUD and enthusiastic. Best value on good steaks that I have found. This location handles a lot of customers and they do it well. Friendly staff that appear to enjoy being there and that makes a huge difference. A limited selection of sides but they are always on point. The highlight for me is their steak. Quality meat and wonderful seasoning flame kissed is a perfect recipe for my hungry belly. The one improvement I would love to see is better temperature control with their steaks. They often miss the mark on medium rare and medium orders. All in all a solid deal on a solid meal. read more

On a recent take out order, I ordered the BBQ chicken breast meal and the chicken was so thin and overcooked that it was more like jerky. The only way I could eat it was with the abundance of super sweet BBQ sauce they put on top. Hubby had the ribeye and said it was quite grizzly. Poor showing on both considering the price. As always the food was excellent. I have never been to a Texas Road House where the food was bad. I had the 8 oz sirloin with a Caesar salad and steamed vegetables. The steak and veggies were perfectly cooked. Our waiter was very kind and efficient. As usual when I am with my cousin we stayed a while to chat and our waiter was cool with it. We don't see each other often but we always check with the wait staff we don't want to hog up a table when they can make more tips, but it wasn't too busy this particular night and even though we asked him several times he was fine. After waiting in the car thankfully we we're seated and given burnt rolls (even though the table next to us had fresh ones. This was annoying but their lack of flow - communication among workers as well as the urgency from the manager, and the hair I found in my salad we're too much. I surprised my husband by treating him to dinner on Father's Day, June 18, 2023. I knew it would be crowded so I added my name to their waitlist and it provided the earliest time. Once we arrived, we only waited 2-5 minutes before we were seated. I love that the server stopped at the meat counter and allowed us to select our steak (if you like steak). We sat down and was served by a nice and friendly young man, Bryan. We only had to make a decision on our drinks and sides. Oh, and an appetizer. Um um Goooood! Get in line early. They have an app for that. Waiters and waitresses are always polite. Roadhouse building neat and clean everywhere. Restrooms clean. Please eat that roll while it is hot and fresh! I prefer plain butter but the hubs loves that cinnamon butter. We love to go on football night and sit at bar. But seating easy everywhere. Delicious!! If I could give less than one star, I would. We came on a Tuesday night and the hostesses acted like it was a huge imposition to seat us. The wait was two hours which is ridiculous on a Tuesday but we would've waited except the hostess kept telling every other employee "They want a table for 6 adults and 4 children!!!!". Our fave steakhouse in Rockwall for several reasons; the atmosphere is a bit more casual than Saltgrass or Culpeppers, the baked potatoes are rolled in oil & salt (so I can eat the tasty skin!), and the drinks are good! We are usually seated promptly (party of 2), and drink service is fairly quick. Good appetizer choices, although we sometimes skip this in order to save room for entree's! But the Fried Pickles and/or Potato Skins are RIGHT. My 8oz NY Strip was thick and full of flavor, and cooked just how I requested. My wife loved her chicken dish, House Salads were fresh & crisp, and our Loaded Baked Potatoes filled us to the brim! In the past we have sat at the bar, when all tables are full - with similarly great food & drink service! Full bar has plenty of choices for basics and house drinks; we don't expect mixology at a steakhouse. The restaurant is extremely loud. Country music is played so loud that conversations cannot be conducted at the tables. Service was acceptable, although the kitchen was very slow getting orders out (30 mins between salads and entrees). The bar has a limited selection of domestic beers and novelty drinks. The 'top shelf' margarita was quite pedestrian. The waiter advised that an extra shot of padron is needed to complete the top shelf margarita...? Very odd.... The food is quite generic. The steaks are food service quality (likely select grade). Salads feature pre-cut/packaged greens and salad dressings are not made on-site. My group and I were visiting for the first time and did not know what we wanted to eat so we chose not to. I almost wish I did because unfortunately the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the smokehouse burger and I wasn't impressed. The star of the show by far and would be the only reason I go back is the rolls. I already heard they were good but literally they are the best dinner rolls I've ever had (even without the creamy cinnamon butter) Overall if you're looking for a quick not great place to eat with the family or a group, this place works. When they asked how things were I told them it was burnt. They asked if they can redo it. Normally I never do that. Just because you never know. I agreed and they brought another o e and it was burnt even more. They did come back and ask again I said I'm good. I know some of you will B/M because that's who you are. I genuinely think that everyone that's saying the food here is good, either has the wrong restaurant or eats at McDonald's when they want a "good burger". I think the steak was passable, not great for a steakhouse but edible. Past that things were damn near inedible. Rolls were served cold, fried pickles are just breading, same for the chicken fried steak. Also the chicken fried steak is some type of sweet maple????? Loaded fries were literally just cheese microwaved on fries + some bacon bits from a bag. Side of Mac and cheese? Oh you bet it was served cold Mac but a HOT cup!!!! Mushrooms cold (and these last two sides are an up charge) This is not an establishment that is worth the wait, let alone any. I only came because I was given a coupon for a free appetizer if I ordered a meal, but you'd bet I'll throw away the rest of those. Never recommending ANY roadhouse to anyone.
