Rockwall?!? Where are you at? We have been walking past here for a couple months and finally decided to try. It's Friday night at 730 and there were 4 tables. I got nervous. Is this a sign??? No. It's no. Currently, they have beer and wine available. We ordered a beer and it was ice cold. For apps, we had half orders of the meteor bites and pickles. Both fantastic. Served with a yummy ranch and Chipotle ranch. Out fast and hot. Our server Cora was so pleasant and had such a strong desire to please. For dinner we both got the 205 plate. Two meats and two sides. For just over $20. It was a steal compared to most bbq joints. He got brisket and ribs. Both fantastic and I am not a rib girl. So tender. I got the pulled pork and chicken. Both good. But, I won't lie, his was better. Only complaint was wishing the food was just slightly warmer. For sides, creamy Mac n cheese (next time I am getting that topped with brisket), potatoe salad and Cole slaw. Zero complaints. Come on Rockwall. Show up and support a local business. read more

I agree with some of the reviewers that the food needs to be stepped up a notch and service was a bit slow. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful with the menu. Boss lady and I came in after the lunch rush. Only three other tables had customers. I ordered the 205 Plate with (what was to be fatty, not. It was cold and dry) brisket and the spicy sausage, which was delicious! My sides were green beans (with bacon) and fried okra...both very tasty. Loved the bread roll. We asked for butter, and they brought out some real whipped butter...SCORE! She had their special flat iron steak, cooked medium rare (always!) with salad and and fries (which need to be done more). Her steak was so tender and cooked perfectly! Dessert was their sampler. With a double order of banana pudding, a bread pudding and a chocolate cake. The best thing was the bread pudding but it needs a warm sauce on it. The others were just Ok. Overall, a good meal and experience. We'll be back to try something different. read more

My wife and I visited Community BBQ this past week, and amid the COVID-19 debacle, we did experience some of the slight inconveniences of such, by having to eat from "To Go" service settings. As the meal went, it ended up being of little consequence! We both ordered the "Tri-City," which is a three-meat plate with two sides. On that, we both ordered the pork ribs and sliced brisket, while she ordered the sliced turkey as her third choice and me the "regular" (versus "jalapeño") sausage, sliced. Since we are trying to stay on a Keto diet, we both had green beans and and accepted the $2 up-charge for the salad. We both had unsweetened iced-tea to drink. We are happy to report that we both enjoyed our lunch! The brisket, being thinly sliced, was still moist and flavorful, although it did have a very slight fuel flavor/aroma. The ribs were very VERY good! Her sliced turkey was tasty - tasty turkey! And, my sliced sausage was a little light on flavor and not (but, almost...) too loosely packed. The green beans were the highlight of the meal - along with the ribs - for me! And, the salad was somewhat puny and not really deserving of a $2 up-charge... all things considered! I do assume that, were things "normal" again, and the salad served in an actual bowl or on a salad plate, it would be a more ample portion size. Or, so I would hope. Despite having to eat off of the fine China, we still wanted to sit in the dining room to eat, rather than take our meal to go. I was glad we did, because it gave me an opportunity to check out the ambiance of the place. It looks very promising as far as a Texas BBQ joint goes and I hope add things do get back to normal, Community BBQ will become known as a rising star in the area. Every Texas town needs a place to eat some good BBQ, without having to settle for the chain versions! The wait staff were friendly and attentive. The dining room was well kept, and the Men's room was clean and well-stocked! As we were heading out, we were asked what we thought of our meals. We expressed our overall satisfaction and I happened to mention that I write Yelp* reviews. With that, the woman showing us out asked us to come back inside, because she wanted to explain the "Community" part of Community BBQ. She showed us their bulletin board, whereby they inform customers about their community outreach program that seeks to feed the hungry, by gaining sponsorship vis-à-vis willing patrons and, by donating food that goes unserved daily, to local food kitchens/banks/etc. She explained how the desire of Community BBQ is to not let food be wasted, but put it toward good use, in our community. I thought that was a pretty cool way to give back, pay it forward! Even if something I've written in this review, or perhaps something someone else has written in their review of Community BBQ, causes you to not want to give this place a try, I would still urge you to set that aside, at least one time, and give Community BBQ a visit. In a world gone crazy sometimes, this place is doing some good and giving back and it's serving as an example for the rest of us in the community! Eat well. Be well. Cheers! read more

Excellent BBQ!!!! And SUPERIOR service!!!! Coming from California, Texas BBQ was a must. I'm so glad my aunt lives nearby. Brisket was our favorite meat. The chicken was really good. The jalapeño cheese sausage was my second favorite. Sides are yummy. The green beans are flavored really well and mac and cheese was great. Community is a rare bird in this area - table-service BBQ. All meats are smoked on-site, and they have an impressive set-up of equipment. Drive around back and see for yourself if you don't believe me. Brisket ordered moist always has good smoke and sufficient fat without big globs. The sausage and ribs also always please. The half smoked chicken is a value deal, that's great for leftovers. For sides, our go-to dishes include the fried okra, baked potato, baked potato, and smoky beans. Community lives up to their name by investing in Sachse - it's charities and other organizations. The ownership team could not be friendlier. Five stars, because as table-service BBQ goes, it just doesn't get any better. read more

Going into this review with the heads up that they just open this location about a week ago. I'll be trying it again in this review is open to change. I had lunch with my sister for her birthday. Again, just opened in the former Fatted Calf location. At this time, there was no restaurant decor, 100% acoustic and very loud (more so than normal) once people started coming in. I'm certain this will change and improve as they settle in. I ordered the brisket and ribs plate with barbecue beans and a side salad. My understanding is this restaurant has been established for a while and moved from Sachse to Rockwall. -The brisket was good, not great. Very little smoke ring and next to no bark. Cut very thin. -The ribs came later. They looked great. It's my understanding that "competition style ribs" are not "fall off the bone" ribs. As you can see in the photos, before, and after... There was almost no meat on those ribs, all bone. Luck of the draw perhaps? If so, I still feel like I got the short end of the stick on the ribs. -The beans were good, but I'm anticipating that these were Bush Beans. -The salad was great! The jalapeño ranch was perfect with it! -My sister let me try her green beans. I thought they were really good flavored and I think had some bacon in it. -The roll was good -The sauce tasted like sweet baby rays to me, not that there's anything wrong with SBR, but I like to see restaurants like this with their own sauce (I could be wrong). -I wanted turkey, but they didn't have any. We were there on a Thursday afternoon so the restaurant wasn't crowded but steadily busy. Our waiter Andy was exceptionally friendly and attentive but not annoyingly so. The menu was exactly what I would expect from a barbecue restaurant, we had the 55 Classic, it was just enough for us and very tasty. The sides, we had green beans and the Barbecue beans, were very good and generous portions. For me though this is a bit of a drive from I-30 (we were passing through)but well worth the drive, it's only a couple of miles. Everything was really good. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. We had family in town from Minnesota who wanted to try great Texas bbq, and this place did not disappoint. I called to place an order for pick up for ten people on a early Sunday afternoon, and Andy was so helpful and friendly. It's honestly one of the best customer service experiences I've had. I was really hoping the food was as good as the service and it absolutely was!! We tried all their meats, and everyone had a different favorite, not one disappointed. I thought the ribs and the brisket were the best, but whatever you like you can't go wrong. The Mac and cheese was so yummy, especially with the brisket, we kept stealing bites from the kids. Oh oh oh and the bbq sauce is really, really great!!! The meat doesn't even need it, but mmmmm it's fantastic with it. I'm so excited to try this place again! We don't complain much. My wife and I have tried CB&G three times. Food is always amazing. The three times we have been (weekends and weekday) it's pretty much empty. And service is always sub standard. So last time we went, we kinda figured it out. We had the same server all three times (lady with glasses). Always yelling at the kitchen about "where is my customers food". Only 3 tables. She has no help. Doesn't seem overwhelming from a serving and volume perspective and It's not her fault. On the last visit, she served us wine. One glass was fresh, the other sour. We asked for a fresh glass to replace sour glass. She obliges and admitted one glass was poured from an open bottle at noon that day. But afterwards she questioned us on why we sent back sour glass of wine. We explained there is a clear difference in taste. She rolled her eyes. It's like she was making it our fault the glass of wine was sour. Very odd customer service. We didn't go there for wine. We went for BBQ. But she clearly took offense. Every experience, this server has a loud potty mouth that can be heard from the kitchen. Repulsive. Maybe this location needs to relegate to a food truck. Service is awful. read more

Im a big BBQ fan, so my dad brought me to his favorite spot in Sachse. We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday. When we walked through the doors, there were maybe 3 people inside, but closer to noon the restaurant began to fill up. Community is a fitting name because the building is huge, and they have plenty of seating & tables. They also have a program where you can donate either money, or buy an meal for someone in need in the community. For that, I was already won over. Now on to the bbq. The ribs were my favorite part. They were smoked perfectly and fell right off the bone - didn't even need bbq sauce. The lean brisket was great too! Nice even char around the edges with a tender & moist core. The sides were all good. What stood out was the fresh cut fries. You could tell they were actually cut there straight from the potato. Simple but delicious! This is going to be a two part review as we did an order to go. First impression was great! Friendly hostess Grace was very friendly and very helpful navigating the menu. Maddie took our order at the Togo counter and appeared to be very confident in her recommendations. It was Father's Day busy and yet things were running pretty smoothly. The patrons seemed to be enjoying themselves a lot which was leading to the long wait times it was not the kitchen. Going home to eat, be back to review the food...... Ladies and gentlemen I think we have a winner! These folks know their way around a bbq pit. We ordered just enough turkey, ribs and ham to supplement some other food that was already at the house. OMG the ribs were great! Good smoke ring, not too much smoke and were tender and flavorful. My favorite was the smoked turkey it was smoked to perfection and very moist (I hate dry turkey). The ham was good but the ribs and turkey were the Stars today. I will be back to check out the true test which is the brisket. read more

We drove by this restaurant almost daily and we have wanted to stop in and try this place. Tonight was the night. We love barbecue and were excited to try this place. Service: fantastic and attentive. They did not miss a beat Appetizers-nothing great. Queso was cold the chip got stuck in the queso and the chips were stale. Sad. Fried pickles were ok. Dinner: chicken was smoked but not seasoning. Sad. Brisket-ok. The bark looked like it was going to be great, but it was soggy and you could see the smoke line. The sausage nothing great. This is not a review, just an observation. I drove past the Sachse location on Hwy 78 today 10/13/2022 and it appears to be closed. The signage has been removed from the property. The website is still online and it lists the address as 112 E. Rusk St in Rockwall. The business seems to have moved to Rockwall. I have to admit that we are not regular customers, but everything we have gotten there has been very good. Best wishes to Community BBQ in the new location. read more

4 1/2 stars! Stopped by for lunch. The food is very good and the servings are generous. The brisket is very flavorful - not overly smoky or spiced; you can actually taste and appreciate the beef. Brioche buns are a great match for the sandwiche offerings. The side we had were good; especially the beans. Hand cut fries were fine, but need to be twice cooked to make them crispier. "Meateor" bites are unique and tasty. The atmosphere is nice - the tables are sturdy and roomy and an improvement from booths. Plan to return. Great place for BBQ. read more

Went there with a large group from church class. They put us in a room set off from the rest of the restaurant, which was fine so we could talk and visit. Normally they have a fee for it but since they had some other groups they let us sit there for free. Problem was they put a very inexperienced server for the whole room, by himself. He did one table at a time for drinks and then came back for food orders which was fine. But being that this is a Bbq restaurant and most of the food is already cooked, it took over an hour to get one our tables food to them and almost ran out of ribs, even one of the cooks came and said they were lucky they got them. We'll they were ordered over an hour ago, so glad they did not run out. Good food though!! But they need to help each other out a little more. read more

This company was set to provide the catering for my daughter's wedding this past weekend at Hidden Creek in Rockwell, TX. They were one of the approved caterers, and we had to use one of them or we got charged $600. Anyway after going through the vetting process of a few of the places, we decided to go with Community because they seemed to understand what we wanted and were the most reasonably priced. We'll come the day of the wedding and nothing went right with them (and they totally blame us and they lied). We were supposed to get warm rolls and butter. That never happened. They were supposed to provide water service. Well everyone got one glass of water and that was it. They never came back around with more water. Then they were not serving tables how you should which is one table at a time then move to the next table. Then I guess people who originally ordered chicken now wanted steak so they didn't give them anything because of course we didn't have enough steak (we had enough for those who ordered it). So I guess they took the food away (mind you I was upstairs in the bride's suite because I was not feeling well) so I did not know any of this was going on. Then people were getting their food cold and were told that I said that they were NOT to heat up any food which is a complete and utter lie. I even have it written in an email that if the medium rare steaks are too rare for a few people make sure you take them back and cook them. So why would I say something like that if I was opposed to them heating something up. They are trying to blame that fact that we start a little late to the entire food part falling apart before our very eyes. They are liers and I would not use them if I were you. They will ruin your event. If your event is coming up and you are using them just make sure that you get everything you pay for no matter what. Oh btw one of my daughter's bridesmaids had her dinner boxed up so in case she got hungry later and the catering crew threw it out. I love BBQ! And I enjoy trying new places. My first visit was within a few weeks of their opening this summer. It was disappointing. I ordered the three meat plate with moist brisket, pulled pork and sausage with Mac and cheese as a side. Everything was bland with minimal smoke. The mac and cheese was okay at best, the smoked beans were very meh. Fast forward to this past weekend so I give them another try. Lunch Black Friday, and it is a ghost town. I was concerned about that but figured folks could be shopping. So I again order the three meat plate, mac and cheese, and potato salad as my other side. I also added the 1/4 smoke chicken ordering the breast and the meatier bites. The bites came with a spicy ranch and regular ranch. I am think it was pulled pork on the inside. But can't swear to that. It had the same vaguely sweet sauce in them as the pulled pork. Again, the moist brisket was bland, lacked real good smoke, the pulled pork came pre-sauced... that is the first sign of a bbq place using a crutch to mask sub par product. The sausage was off the shelf fair that got all of it's smoke at the manufacturer's plant. Now, I ordered the 1/4 smoked chicken specifying breast. When my food comes out I have a leg quarter. The Mac and cheese was overcooked to near mush. At noon. I am pretty comfortable in guessing that was left over from the day before. My waitress who was adequate told me the potato salad was house made but was very manufactured tasting to me. I really wanted to like this place. But compared to other Wylie area offerings. Soooo since this pace open been wanting to try it out. Finally got the opportunity to make time and order take out. I was just a little disappointed. I ordered 1 meat plate with 2 side. Chicken was my meat. Have to say it was so dry I had to keep dipping it in my BBQ sauce cause it was dry. Really sucked. I ordered my daughter the brisket Mac N Cheese. She really liked that, and the jalapeño poppers you would call them weren't that impressive either. The rolls were good and the BBQ sauce was good too. But for 3 people spent $46. Well worth it? No I do not think so. Doesn't make me wanna jump up go back because i was salivating with delicious taste. Nope, don't have that feeling. Likely to return, from what I had I would say no. On a scale of 1-10 Brisket 7 without the bark but the bark pushes for an extra point. So 8. Sausage 5. Nothing special. Chicken 6. I opted for white meat, while I'm usually a dark meat kinda gal but smoked chicken white meat is the real test. Left a lot to be desired. A little on the dry side. Good smoke flavor but under seasoned. Ribs 7. A little tough and jerkyish but the flavor was right on. I did get the ends of the rack so that might have played into it. Mac n cheese 3. It's just hard to get good Mac these days. It sits in the sauce too long. Mush city. No gooey melted cheese, just saucy. Meteor bites 9. Not what I was expecting but in the best way possible. They're essentially brisket fritters. Get them. Fries 8. I'm a sucker for hand cut fries. These were slightly soggy but still well seasoned. Few more seconds in the fryer and they could easily be a solid 9. Add some rib rub and you're looking at an 11. Chocolate cake 16382842273. Seriously. Best chocolate cake I've ever had. On Saturday, January 21,2023, we went to Community Barbecue for lunch on the Square. The food was outstanding and the service was outstanding. We can't wait to go back again. However, a friend of mine and I are veterans and they said they were going to give us a 10% discount off for our meal , but they did not do that. Plus, they charged us a a dollar each for using a credit card instead of cash. They did not tell us that there would be a fee for using a credit card. My husband and I went here to check out the food. We were greeted by the hostess, Grace, who was very friendly and accommodating. We were surprised to see how huge the restaurant was; it's definitely a great spot to hold an event here! We started off with appetizers, in which we got the meateor bites which were similar to jalepeno poppers but with rib meat in them. We were surprised on how good these were. They were filled with meat and had a good amount of cheese and spice inside. It was delicious! We also got the onion rings which were panko covered and fried to perfection. It was easily one of the best onion rings I've had. We wanted to sample the meat, so we got the meat sampler which has brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sausage (regular and spicy), ham, and turkey. We also ordered catfish, which came with hush puppies. Everything was excellent, with the highlights being the ribs and the cornbread hush puppies. Wow! This spot definitely has my favorite ribs of all time now. We decided to try a little bit more (haha) so we ordered a two meat plate to take home. We got the smoked chicken, ribs of course, cole slaw and mac and cheese. To top it off, we ordered a slice of chocolate cinnamon cake. Again, everything was delicious and we kept talking about how we want to eat here again. Overall, we had an excellent experience here. The food, space, and service were all great. Amazing service and really good BBQ! First time here was with a group in events room. Staff was quite and not disruptive while serving all drinks and food and drinks. They brought refills before we even asked and we hardly knew they were there. It's always hard to find a place for groups to meet, but this was exceptional. Then we get to the food. I had the Pulled Pork and Sausage with fried okra and their BBQ beans. All was excellent in taste, quantity, price and speed it was delivered. Service was adequate. The place was clean and open. The food was expensive especially for the servicing sizes. Two cuts of meat and a cup of Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes and iced tea for $18. I asked them for my bbq to be wet, did not get that. But received a dried out piece of flavorless meat. There is no smoke smell anywhere in the vicinity of the restaurant. So the meat tastes as if it was smoked somewhere else and delivered frozen. The sides were good but small servings. We asked for suggestions the server said everything is great. Driving by the place, I wanted to like the place. Unfortunately, it wasn't a very good experience. Food: Dickey's and Soulman's are better. Much better. The chopped brisket was by far the best item we tried. Nevertheless, it was mediocre at best. The pulled pork was simply dry and tasteless. The worst item was the sausage.
