Well, we stopped at the Waffle House in Garland, Tx, last Friday morning, Next to it was Baker's Ribs and It smelled amazing. On our way home we stopped in and the rib plate was Monday's special. Omg it was phenomenal! They also have a habanero bbq sauce that was great. You have to try this place !!!!!

Went back to my old stomping grounds while I was in Texas this weekend. My Husband LOVES BBQ so I took him to one of my favorite places in Garland. I could almost see the drool shimmering off his mouth when we walked in. You're automatically hit with the most wonderful smokes smell in the world. The specials that had that night was amazing, my son got 3 sloppy joes for $7.00 and they are HUGE. Still have one in the fridge haha.. Husband got his usual 2 meat brisket and ribs and I got the ribs and smoked sausage.. was everything I remembered and more. I love you wished we had good ole Texas bbq here in Louisiana. Maybe I'm biased being a native Texan and all LOL

The cement animal that I was talking about.

OOooh Francesca beat me to it! So we were bored on a Sunday afternoon and we decided we should check this place out after debating where we should eat for nearly 30 minutes. The selection of sides were pretty good I just wish 3 veggies was part of the meat combo. Here, you get to pick the sides first and then they hook you up with the meats. For my sides I had the cole slaw, which was nice and crispy, but I was unhappy since I'm always looking for the taste that KFC and Church's produces. I am I expecting too much? As for my other side I selected the scalloped potatoes which were so cheesy and buttery. I suggest that you eat this first before you get disgusted by it's stiffness after it cools. For my meat selection I had the spicy sausage, which wasn't spicy at all and tasted kinda like Eckrich's smoked sausage with pepper flakes, the brisket which was nearly "chopped beef" after playing with it on my plate, and the ham was just fine. Bread selection like Francesca says is kind of disappointing. No fresh bread baked on premises. At least when we were there. So I had some of the wheat bread that they had wrapped up in film. After my brother finished off his bread from making his own little bbq sandwiches, he went to get some more. This time his slices were stale. He could have been eating toast. I liked the decor of this place(for a BBQ joint) really Southern-ish. Texas flags on the backs of the booth cushions, varmint traps on the walls, cement farm animals outside in their "rock garden."

It is awesome pulled pork sandwich and cherry fries pie.. keep it up

This was awesome all around. Moist brisket, great sausage and off the chart potato salad and rolls. Wish we had one up north - just sayin.

Chicken-fried brisket is the star of the show here, and it's every bit as legendary as the hype…read moresuggests. I went specifically for their signature dish (the one they proudly call themselves the "Home of the Chicken Fried Brisket"), and it delivered exactly what everyone raves about. They take a thick, oak-smoked brisket slice--already juicy, tender, and loaded with smoky flavor and perfect bark--then coat it in a craft-beer batter and fry it up. The crust comes out shatter-crisp and golden, never greasy or soggy, while the brisket inside stays beefy and moist. That peppery burnt-end gravy poured over the top is rich, savory, and ties everything together beautifully with a scoop of skin-on mashed potatoes on the side. It's pure Texas comfort food genius--smoky BBQ meets Southern fried steak in the best possible way. I'd order it again in a heartbeat (it's a Tuesday special or weekend brunch treat, so plan accordingly). The rest of the BBQ holds up just as strong. Their regular brisket (flat and point) is consistently juicy, tender, and smoky with that killer bark everyone mentions. Sides and other meats are solid too--no weak links. The house beers are fantastic and pair perfectly with the rich, smoky food (the rustic, woodsy vibe in the historic downtown Garland spot makes it even better for lingering over a pint). Service is friendly and the whole place just feels welcoming. If you're in Garland or nearby and love bold Texas BBQ with a creative twist, Intrinsic is a must. The chicken-fried brisket alone is worth the trip--don't sleep on it! Highly recommend for anyone who wants great smoked meats, great beer, and something uniquely delicious

We ordered a half pound of fatty brisket and a side of Mac and cheese. The brisket was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It had a nice smoke but it was pretty mild for my taste. I liked the bbq sauce in the packets. I took some home for some bbq beans. The Mac and cheese was pretty good. It was thick and well seasoned. Really good for a cafeteria style serving. I like this place. I could see it in my rotation for bbq locally.

It was pretty packed when I came on a weekend, so I'd recommend reservations. The chicken and waffles were top notch. It was a pretty hefty portion for the price. The chicken was crispy and the waffles had structure. The side of gravy made it a hundred times better. Definitely worth it! The banana bread French toast was ok; nothing mind blowing there. I did have a bite of shrimp and grits and it was melt-in-your mouth oozing with flavor. This was brunch done right!

Such a wonderful dining experience and delicious food!…read more I and two others came on a Saturday morning at 11:15am and the restaurant was almost a full house - thank goodness for reservations. Eric, our waiter, was incredibly attentive despite how busy he was. Empty plates were cleared and waters were refilled in a timely manner. We also didn't have to wait much for our food to come out after ordering. WHAT WE ORDERED - chicken and waffle: I personally didn't order this, although this dish made it to the clean plate club - gulf shrimp and grits: this was beyonddd delicious and flavorful! The grits were so creamy and buttery. It came with a perfect amount of shrimp that were seasoned beautifully, had the perfect texture and bite, and had a nice touch of smokiness from the grill. The sauce and crunchy bacon bits truly brought the entire dish together to form the perfect bite - banana bread french toast: I was told this was alright - gumbo: We ordered 2 cups of these and had it as our appetizer. The gumbo had an abundant amount of chicken, sausage, rice, and the holy trinity. It truly tasted like authentic gumbo Coming from Southeast Texas where Creole food is more accessible, I am sooo glad my brother recommended this place. I am definitely coming back when I need my Creole fix!
