The sauce and crunchy bacon bits truly brought the entire dish together to form the perfect bite - banana bread french toast: I was told this was alright - gumbo: We ordered 2 cups of these and had it as our appetizer. The gumbo had an abundant amount of chicken, sausage, rice, and the holy trinity. The coffee is good and the menu is large. Being gluten free my selection was much, but I did have a few things to choose from. I had the shrimp and grits and they were amazing. The portion size is very large. I wish they had a half portion. I got a large plate filled with cheese grits and a yummy spicy sauce and 7 large shrimp. I had a Saturday brunch date with a friend and we ordered the pull apart blueberry biscuits, steak&noodle salad, and Nashville hot tenders. We were very satisfied with everything we ordered. The biscuit wasn't as dry as it normally is due to the lemon glaze, the Nashville hot tenders wasn't really the expected flavor instead tasted too sweet, less meaty but crispy but liked that it came with a side. We got a mocktail, a chicken kale salad, shakshuka, and chicken and waffle (we sub it with the Nashville hot tenders). Kale salad was very flavourful but the chicken was dry. Shakshuka was kind of disappointing.. the egg was overcooked & the yolk wasn't jammy... the tomato "stew" felt like reheated canned tomatoes... the bread was good. I probably wouldn't order it again. We dined on Sunday morning and the fish began around 10am and by the time we finished eating the entire walkway outside was packed. On to the good part. We were greeted promptly by our server. I visited on Friday night for my friend's birthday, and they surprised her with a complimentary mini candle and card. How sweet is that! Standards are slipping with service at the bar. The last few times I've been to Ida Claire and sat at the bar, the service has been lacking. I just left the bar today. Although greeted fairly quickly upon sitting, the assistance I received after was minimal. I had to flag someone down to get silverware and a napkin after receiving my food. No water refills at all and no bottle of water was set before me at all. When my cocktail was near completion, someone picked it up and asked if I wanted another. My glass wasn't empty yet so I asked for it back and asked for the cocktail menu. That bartender never returned to assist me. She instead stopped by the window/garage door and talked to her coworker for 5 minutes. I wanted another drink but no one came back over to me. Then I finished my food so there was no point in getting another drink (I was by myself). All because no one came over to assist me. A different bartender came by and took my now-empty glass, and I said I was ready to pay my check. She ran my card and gave me my receipts with a wooden drink stirrer, NOT AN INK PEN. She then turned to her coworkers and started talking. AGAIN I HAD TO FLAG THEM. Now to ask for a pen. WTF. I came here on a Sunday morning with a couple of friends right when they opened at 9 a.m. We did have a reservation, and by the time our food arrived, the restaurant was already more than half full, so I definitely recommend making one. We started with the fried green tomatoes, and they were absolutely amazing. Normally when I order fried green tomatoes, they need the dipping sauce or at least a little salt and pepper to really shine. These didn't need anything. They were perfectly seasoned on their own and tasted great even without the sauce. I also ordered the banana bread French toast, and hands down, it's the best banana bread French toast I've ever had. They offer a lot of toppings, and while everything was good, none of it was necessary. The banana bread itself was so flavorful and well-made that it stood perfectly on its own. We also ordered the Low Country breakfast with hash browns, country ham, and biscuits, and that was excellent as well. Everything was cooked well, hearty, and full of flavor. The restaurant itself is fairly large with plenty of different seating configurations, which makes it great for groups. The service was great throughout our visit, and overall, we had a really enjoyable experience. My only minor complaint was the seating. After we were sat, another table was placed right next to us about five minutes later, even though there were plenty of other open areas they could have used. There is a super cute trailer van for large parties and the indoor seating is designed to perfection. The servers are all super friendly and southern!! This is a great place to take people from out of town to get some Texas vibes! However, the last time I came my burger was completely raw on the inside. I politely sent it back and sadly received another raw burger. It was pretty concerning. Every other time i've been the food has been great. Love the mac and cheese and chicken and waffles!
