There is a super cute trailer van for large parties and the indoor seating is designed to perfection. The servers are all super friendly and southern!! This is a great place to take people from out of town to get some Texas vibes! However, the last time I came my burger was completely raw on the inside. I politely sent it back and sadly received another raw burger. It was pretty concerning. Every other time i've been the food has been great. Love the mac and cheese and chicken and waffles! I've been to Ida Claire a couple times, but my most recent visit was disappointing. While all the staff are very friendly, I was less than impressed with my food. I got Ida's fried chicken with a side of Mac and cheese. The fried chicken was extremely dry, not very flavorful, and the fried coating is very thin. In addition, the mac and cheese is just as lackluster. The cheese sauce was very thin with very little cheese flavor. All the sauce had puddled at the bottom. This is a great place for a casual family meal. I love the decor of this restaurant. I appreciate the fact that although their menu is predominantly unhealthy choices, they do offer a good selection for health conscious diners. Every time I go, I get the same salad. This time the chicken was a smaller portion and dry. Hopefully, that was an unusual incident. There was less mustard in the salad dressing, which I didn't prefer. We shared the hot chicken fingers as an appetizer. It was delicious. The lemon blueberry biscuits were far too sweet for me, but for someone else they would probably be delicious. This place was packed on a Tuesday at lunchtime, and the noise level was somewhere between "rock concert" and "airplane tarmac." But hey, that just means it's good, right? I had done my usual deep-dive menu research beforehand (because I take food decisions seriously) and was torn between the much-hyped chicken & waffles and the Asian steak salad with peanuts and ramen. Naturally, Hubbs and I went halfsies. The salad? A real winner--spicy, crunchy, and with steak so tender that even my inner steak snob gave it the nod of approval. The chicken & waffles? I've always had a great experience here -- the food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The line gets very, very long, so I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Be aware that they won't seat you until your full party has arrived, and reservations can be forfeited if everyone isn't there on time. The food as you can imagine, tastes like breakfast, but my egg whites were undercooked and extremely runny which made me gag. Here's what I tried: From the Vinyl Happy Hour menu: - Mini Hummus Board: Generous portion of hummus that took up half the plate, served with soft pita and assorted fresh vegetables. - Nashville Shrimp: Four jumbo shrimp in a light batter. We've been eyeing to try Ida Claire back in San Antonio but there was always a waitlist. Lucky for me a there is a closer location in Addison and we were able to stop by for brunch. I've tried a variety of dishes here--the biscuits and gravy, the steak salad (back when I still ate beef), the shrimp and grits, and the goat cheese ravioli. Everything has been delicious, but the ravioli is definitely my personal favorite. Nothing against the other dishes--it's just the one I always find myself coming back to. I usually sit at the bar, where the bartenders always deliver top-notch service. They're friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and they always remember what I like to order, both food and drinks, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The ambience is another standout--laid-back yet lively, and perfect for any occasion. If I had one small drawback, it would be that the portion sizes don't always seem to match the price. That being said, I might be in the minority on this since the restaurant is always packed, and clearly most people feel it's well worth it.
