Havent been here in a while and went back with my homegirl recently. I tried the chargrilled oysters, the wings, crawfish beignets, and a mixed daiquiri. The food was actually pretty good like I remember. My friend enjoyed her crawfish as well. Our drinks were also strong. I got Julies pimp cup sub gin for tequilla and it was straight tequilla I suppose because I didnt taste anything else lol. The vibes were great when we went and there was a dj. I really enjoyed myself and will def come back to try more menu items. The service was also great!

Went for National Oyster Day! In my opinion the best in the city! The servers were very attentive. Came around several times.

Had so much fun here last night with friends. We came in a big group of 6 so we were grateful for how quickly they got things situated so that we could get seated. Our server was attentive and friendly, he answered all our questions professionally and moved with urgency to help us with our needs. I had ordered a lb of shrimp, 1 corn, 1 potato and thought that what I got was recently portioned and looked fresh. My shrimps were a good size and peeled easy. I wish the potato was cut because it got a little messy to bite a whole potato but generally, I wish I got a bigger potato! It was so small! Everything is market price of the day so my portion was about $19. At the end of our meal, the owner was super nice and gifted us beignets! Soooo good!

I've been here 3x now. I thought for sure during my last visit with my dad that I did a review, but apparently not. I returned for the 3rd time on Wednesday to celebrate my dad's birthday. We came during their happy hour which is from 3-7pm. Bao was our server & he was great! We ordered a variety of things: their half dozen chargrilled oysters, cajun fries, lemon pepper wings, a half pound of boiled shrimp, alligator dogs & Bao was kind enough to give my dad beignet bites for his birthday dessert. For drinks we had their margaritas on the rocks. What I can say is their food quality is consistent. Everything is always made to order & brought to the table piping hot. Each dish was packed with flavor and was pretty generous in terms of serving size. One of the main reasons we keep coming back is because of their chargrilled oysters. As Louisiana natives we put these up there with Acme & Dragos, which says a lot. If you haven't tried them yet, check them out

The crawfish here is really good. Closest I can get to the quality back in Louisiana so it hits the spot. The shrimp were a little hard to peel. Seemed a little overcooked but still good flavor.

10/10 I recommend! They have a happy hour Monday through Friday I believe until 6 or 7! $6 wells and many other drink deals $4 jambalaya egg rolls and other food items. The service is very attentive and quick! If you happen to not like something they are very flexible with switching something out! The uptown oysters are not on Happy hour and I see why it's so delicious they can't give that way at a deal! I usually order the same thing everytime and the uptown oysters are on that list! As well as the seafood egg rolls are delicious, they have a Cajun flavor and the sauce is to die for with a little spice! I also get this every visit. The jambalaya egg rolls are on the happy hour, four dollars it's worth to try. It's too spicy for me but I still say try it for your self. The ambiance is a very relaxed environment! I also always get the hurricane everytime, 2 to be exact! That's all you need. They are $10. The alligator dog is also delicious, I didn't get a pic of it because I ate it too quickly lol . On my last visit I got the hot sausage, I wasn't a fan I'll still to my gator dogs! See you soon!!

I went to this place on a whim for happy hour on a Thursday. I had so much fun! The happy hour food and drinks selections are really good. I started with the eggrolls and a frozen cocktail. The staff was great. The server was really nice. On Thursdays, they have a DJ and karaoke. This is when the fun started. After a couple of drinks/shots and a little more food, the place was alive ! I enjoyed the diversity of the customers. The icing on the cake was hearing a few kids perform karaoke to their favorite songs. Can't wait to go back.

I went to grad school in Louisiana. I don't remember much about what I learned there. But I do remember how much I enjoyed Cajun food! A good friend of mine from Louisiana recommended me this place. So I felt pretty good to try it out. I ordered two pounds of crawfish with potatoes and corn. I did take-out to avoid the crowd. I loved the crawfish! It was so delicious - fresh, spicy, and savory. They did tossed in a couple of "jumbo" crawfish! We also liked the corn, but the potatoes were a bit bland. The place is not too big, but all the patrons seemed to be enjoying the food. The decor is very New Orleans. I'd love to come back and try the other items, like the charbroiled oysters, poboys, jambalaya, beignets. P.s. Come on (Tasty) Tuesday. Crawfish is just $7.99/lb. What a deal!

When I read the menu of this place, I was so excited to go and try so many different things because everything sounded so good. But that was shortly lived. The ambience of the place was average Wood. You typically will see like a Cajun restaurant it was packed. Unfortunately the service was not good. I'm sorry the hosts had us confused with another person and told us she gave our table away because she called and we didn't answer. Sorry, but there are multiple people in this world named Erica so she completely had the wrong number when we verified the telephone number in the wrong party. Once we were seated, the waitress was not the friendliest person. We had a party of five and it was all of our first time being there so we were asking what are the favorites that she recommends and she was very dry and basically was like whatever you want. She made us feel like we were getting on her nerves or she was irritated with the day and was ready to go. I get that you're working in front face customer service and sometimes people may not be as nice but every new customer should be treated fairly. We wanted to try everything and unfortunately for me the food just tasted hot like they mix a lot of different hot sauces together to call it cajun and everything was nasty to me other than the hush puppies and the oysters. I forgot to take pictures of the noodles. They were not good at all and also the shrimp we had got a pound with the seasoning and it wasn't the greatest. I don't ever foresee myself going there again and we went on happy hour and I was mad that I spent $60!

Back again and I was not disappointed. Jseca was our server and she was so kind! Melony the manager also stopped by our table to make sure we had everything we needed.

It's crawfish season & Tasty Tails is my favorite place to get my crawfish fix. I came on a Tuesday because you can't beat 7.99/lb crawfish. To get the price, you have to get it NOLA style & even though I love the butte sauce, the NOLA just hits. Without all the butter, you really get to enjoy the crawfish and the seasoning that the crawfish gets soaked into. It's spicy and I can literally just sit there & eat 10 pounds. Unfortunately, I did not eat 10 pounds but I did get 2 lbs to go & it was even better the next day. I went during happy hour & got boiled shrimp & seafood egg rolls (not on the happy hour menu but definitely worth full price). The egg rolls are hearty and so good with all the cheese & seafood. Definitely recommend. Their oysters are bomb too. Our server, Amanda, was super attentive & friendly. Julie also stopped by our table & gave us great service. Even though it's just the beginning of the season, the crawfish were good size. Can't wait until Tuesday again to enjoy more crawfish.

    Second time. Kinda hungry! lol

This place doesn't miss honestly 10/10! Brought my dad here for Father's Day 2025 since we always liked seafood! Service was very attentive. Atmosphere definitely gave a bit of New Orleans madigras!

Best thing on menu... beignet sticks

I'm born n raised in New Orleans.... Had an oyster poboy... nothing like New Orleans style and flavor... I am very disappointed! WE DO NOT EVER COUNT THE PIECES OF SHRIMP OR OYSTERS ... rule 1. Great Ambience for drinks but not enough flavor to make me wanna come back!!!

And what…read morefollowed was a core memory in three courses and a complimentary Bloody Mary shot accompanied by the cutest green olive. The moment we walked in, it felt like home, but not in the "kick off your shoes" way. No, this was the "you're safe here, baby" kind of home. The vibe? Cozy. Elevated. Like Restoration Hardware met someone emotionally stable. Elliott was our server and an absolute delight. Joseph was the manager, casually spreading joy like Oprah with a tray of Bloody Mary shots. Amber... now let me pause here, because this woman deserves a paragraph of her own. Amber isn't just a GM. She's the kind of soul you meet once and never forget. When I asked for her to come to our table just to pay her a compliment, we both practically teared up. She received it with open arms, no ego, no deflection, just pure, gracious presence. I was mid-sentence and suddenly I had that Creed song stuck in my head. You know the one. "With arms wide open..." That's the kind of energy she brought to the entire restaurant. Amber made every person in that room feel like they mattered. Not because it's her job, but because it's who she is. She's fresh off earning her master's in hospitality, and if that degree came with a crown, she's wearing it. The Porch doesn't just run smoothly. It runs on Amber energy. But let's talk about the moment I saw God. Cornbread Eggs Benedict: Not crab. Not salmon. Corn. Bread. And not just any cornbread. The softest, fluffiest, most cuttable cloud of golden glory I've ever had the pleasure of annihilating with a fork. A fork, not a steak knife. Do you understand how rare that is? Normally I'm out here sawing through an English muffin like I'm in a lumberjack competition. This? Melted like butter. Tasted like a hug. 12/10. Incredible. And then, as if the eggs benny enlightenment wasn't enough, Joseph reappears with a tray of free Bloody Mary shots for the entire restaurant. With olives. For everyone. The joy? Immediate. The energy? Electric. The crowd? Unified. I watched a grandmother at the next table raise her glass like the queen she is. I nearly cried. This wasn't service. This was a masterclass in human connection. Restaurants can be transactional. Robotic. This was the opposite. This was care, intention, soul. My high school principal once said: "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit of extra." The Porch brought extra, bagged it, garnished it, and served it on a tray. Final thought: If you're not brunching here, I'm concerned. If you are? I'll raise my Bloody Mary shot to you. And Amber, if you ever run for mayor, you've already got my vote. I'll run your campaign and show up in a custom t-shirt.

At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say about either the food or the service. This was an amazing dining experience, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

Yardbird Dallas Brunch Review…read more I had the pleasure of visiting Yardbird Dallas for brunch, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. The location is perfect if you're spending the day exploring Dallas--it's surrounded by plenty of activities and is in an extremely walkable area, making it an easy stop to add to your itinerary. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality stood out. The hostess was warm and welcoming when seating us, and our server was fantastic. They were knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus and, more importantly, genuinely helpful when it came to making recommendations. I always appreciate a server who can confidently guide you through a menu, especially when there are so many tempting options. I started with the **Espresso Martini**, which was really good and a nice way to kick off brunch. But the true star of the meal for me was the **Holy Trinity Hash**. I'll admit, I was expecting the short rib portion to be more of an afterthought, but I was pleasantly surprised by how generous it was. The short rib was substantial, and all of the flavors came together beautifully. One detail I especially appreciated was the **dirty rice instead of potatoes**. It added so much more character to the dish and paired perfectly with the other components. This was one of those meals where every bite made sense, and I completely understood why our server recommended it. Beyond the food, I really enjoyed the restaurant's design and layout. The space is aesthetically pleasing without feeling overly formal, and I loved that the layout allows you to see across the restaurant--it gives the dining room a lively, open feel. If the Texas heat hadn't been doing the absolute most, I definitely would have considered dining on the patio. It looked like it would be a great option on a cooler day. Overall, my experience at Yardbird Dallas was excellent, and honestly, I wouldn't change a thing. The service, atmosphere, cocktails, and food all came together for a memorable brunch. I'd absolutely return the next time I'm in Dallas, and I'd happily visit another Yardbird location when traveling to a city that has one. The Holy Trinity Hash alone is enough to bring me back.
