Oh my God, I so love this place! The seafood shack is one of those places where you can go in and order the best catfish and I absolutely love it! Their margaritas are going to be a hit and I absolutely love their mozzarella cheese sticks, they are fire! Come here and have a good time with friends and family. I'm telling you everything is made right when you order it and it's perfectly crisp and not overly done! My fave is always gonna be the catfish basket. I love dipping it in the tartar sauce that is just my absolute go to! We were near the airport and my son loves crab, so I thought we'd give this place a chance, despite some poor reviews. I regret it. Several things: 1. Surprisingly expensive for the quality of the food 2. Salmon came out half uncooked. They had to take it back to the kitchen twice (and then no consideration on the bill for that) 3. My boyfriend was craving ceviche, so I did my Yelp scrolling and landed on Seafood Shack! I've always passed it driving down Northwest Hwy but never stopped to try, it didn't disappoint! The inside is so pretty and bigger than I thought, and the servers were nice and attentive. I believe they speak mostly spanish but had no problem understanding us "no sabo kids" lol. The ceviche tasted very fresh and it was seasoned really well. I loved the big cucumber slices with tajin as well, my boyfriend and I finished it quick! The fried shrimp was so good and the fries were tasty, all seasoned well. My boyfriend got the big fajita plate and it came with rice and all the fixings; so delicious! We walked to this place from a hotel & what a find! The seafood was fresh & generous portions. They have daily specials like fish tacos on Tuesday. We shared the tres leches cake & it was moist & ended our meal well. We initially sat outside, but asked to move inside because it was windy & there was a panhandler disturbing our experience. They accommodated us & we're very attentive to us. I hope to come again when I'm in the area. I've only been here twice but each time was fantastic! Our server was a younger gentleman both times and he was super friendly. He was patient with our larger group and offered many suggestions. This time we got the Fried Calamari with Fried Jalapeños. It is divine! They cornmeal batter is amazing and does not slide off the calamari. I also like that each ring was fresh. I've been to places where it was overly fried and almost leathery.....you won't get that here. I also ordered the shrimp Flautas which were a suggestion from my previous visit. They hit every spot! The shrimp were fresh and it was wrapped in cheese and a little bit of jalapeños. I didn't find it spicy at all so maybe take a chance and try it? Also, it comes with rice, the menu doesn't say so but I was able to ask and have fried corn nuggets as a substitute. My mom ordered the large Caldo de Mariscos (seafood soup). I think it had fish, squid, and shrimp (head on). The bowl was massive! She ordered a large thinking it would be a bowl size vs a cup size like normal restaurants. She said it was worth every penny. We ended up having to take a good portion home. It took two tall containers to fit what was left. I forgot to add that the drinks are pretty strong so make sure you order some food :) And the vibes are killer! They were playing 2010-2022 reggaeton. Check the menus for their daily specials. Lo and behold! What did I stumble across here? I've been going to the the original location on Webb Chapel (which literally does look like a shack) for quite some time for their Tuesday oyster specials. There was no way this restaurant was connected to the one on Webb Chapel. Even the food presentation is much much better.. they actually cared and made my plate pretty! But I did ask and confirm so I'm excited to learn this is their second location only open for appx 2 years. The boyfriend and I shared a Medium Seafood Cocktail. That alone could have been a meal for the both of us. If you get the mixed seafood cocktail, you'll get plenty of avocado, shrimp, octopus, and oysters. It was soooo yummy. Of course, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. It was cold out so I ordered a small seafood stew. I felt like my soup was just the warm version of the seafood cocktail in a fishy broth. It had all the similar ingredients the cocktail had. It was still delicious! But I could barely finish it. The next time, I will order just the fish stew to save a few cents. Oh and the small bowl... is HUMONGOUS! The boyfriend ordered the fried catfish and ate every last bit. While we ate, there was a professional mariachi band performing and serenading us.
