I order from here when I want fried seafood especially whole fish. I called my order in for whole red snapper. They answer quickly and take order and give you a number. You can pick up/pay in drive thru. They place is small and gets crowded. Nothing fancy but good. So I prefer to go. The cost was expensive for this place $36. I love whole fried catfish over fillets. So after researching, I ordered pick up from the seafood shack. I've seen this place dozen times, but never thought to get food from there. The place was very crowded, so it was a good thing that I ordered online ahead of time. I got the impression that a lot of regulars go there. The majority of the parking in front of the restaurant is for to-go and online orders, so maybe all of the patrons parked in the back somewhere? My food was still hot when I got home. The catfish was fried extra hard, just the way I like it. It came with fries. They were your typical frozen fries with seasoning sprinkled on them. I did not eat them. It also came with hush puppies and some hot sauce. The catfish was pretty good. And because I'm so greedy, I also got the shrimp boil. I was so full from the fish, I was only able to taste one of the shrimps just to get an idea, you know, while they were still hot. From what I could tell, the shrimp was pretty good. Came here for the first time on a Sunday around one pm. The music was overwhelming and loud. I didn't like how crowded it was. The tables were too close together and tiny. Being a seafood restaurant there's large dishes and platters and it was not practical. We had to play Tetris with the drinks and sauce stand to make room for our plates. I really wanted to run out before ordering anything because it was just too much. But the drinks and food came out fairly quickly. The food was satisfying. The menu has so many dishes it was very tasking to choose. The drinks were refreshing, I ordered an agua de guayava. It was perfect no artificial sugar was a plus. One of my kids is a chicken nugget kid so he ordered cheese sticks as a meal. I was pleasantly surprised because they were tempura battered or beer battered. Looked good. Had a nice cheese pull. I hope they don't start cutting corners and change them for freezer cheese sticks because it's these details that set them apart. My other kid ordered crab legs with garlic sauce and a shrimp cocktail. The crab legs were flavorful and cracked fairly easily. They didn't offer bibs or hand wipes. Don't say I didn't warn you. Now time for the shrimp cocktail. A shrimp cocktail is a big tell on how the rest of the food will be. The sauce was perfectly balanced. It wasn't straight ketchup. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. All of them. Not one overcooked. And let's not forget the avocado. Already in the cocktail with a perfect shrimp to avocado ratio. Generous. Lovely. I love it when I don't have to dig to find avocado or shrimp. My dish was the red snapper a la diabla. Although it was full of flavor the reason I ordered is because I expected heat. They were definitely scared of making it the way it's supposed to be. Hot! No heat at all, my chicken nugget kid tried it and didn't even notice any heat. I wish they could customize the heat level. Seafood Shack has been in my bookmark for months so today I did a take out order for lunch. Typically when I drive-by, cars are in the parking lot so I figure the kitchen is kept busy. I ordered two piece catfish with four shrimp and an order of coleslaw. I was impressed with the size of the flattened shrimp. The catfish was too rubbery to me. I didn't enjoy it. Ordered 1lb shrimp, no head. Mexican cocktail and ceviche. The ceviche was bright and yummy. The boiled shrimp lacked flavor, were way over cooked, and since they weren't split down the back like some seafood boil places do, they had to be cleaned before eaten (you know what I'm talking about and No thanks). The Mexican cocktail was pretty standard, but since I had to clean my shrimp from the boiled option I paid attention to these and guess what, 25% + of them had to be cleaned before eaten as well. This is all well and good if you don't care about eating the shrimp poop (and I know people that do not care), but I do care. So I will try other menu options next time. read more

I came here with my family on a Sunday. It was so busy but we got seated within 10 mins which was not bad. My dad loves this place. He says seafood is always fresh and owner is a great person. Came here for lunch and got the 2 shrimp enchiladas special with rice and a sweet tea. It was like $15 before top and the cashier and waitress were both very nice. My food was at my table in about 5 minutes. The enchiladas were really great, lots of cheese and very flavorful, I loved them. The rice was really good too. This is in my neighborhood and I needed catfish. I have lived here for seven years and haven't been in a long time. Yesterday's visit reminded me why. Prices: Fair. Service: I chose drive thru and the employee was very friendly. Food: hush puppies are the premade tube kind that are an abomination that should never be served (do you hear me, Hook, Line, and Sinker?!?). They were lukewarm, which is suboptimal for a fried food. The fries looked like they had potential at one time but were also dead when I received them. The catfish was equally meh temperature wise and the taste was nothing special. I gave up after one filet and let the birds have the rest. It should be noted that when you order at the drive thru, you are asked to pull around and wait in an assigned space (6 in my case, if you'd like to visit). Absolutely terrible customer service. I placed an order online and, when I got home, i realized that they had only given me half my order. I called them and they refused to issue a refund even though they confirmed that they had made an error and failed to include part of my order. They said the only option was for me to come back to the store to pick it up. Aside from the fact that it would have been cold and gross by the time i got there, i had to go to work, so that wasn't an option. They have $2 ceviche tostadas on Monday. $0.30/oyster or $3.60/dozen of oysters on Tuesday. $20 for shrimps and crab legs basket on Wed. Happy hour from 3-7PM, Mon-Fri. Strong and huge margaritas and micheladas for $5.50 during happy hr. I highly recommend all of the specials. Non-happy hr items: Best tartar sauce here. The hushpuppies go so well with the tartar sauce. The mixed seafood stew was ok. It was a little bland. The shrimps flautas were delicious, but my favorite was the shrimps cocktail. Reasonably priced hole-in-the-wall for seafood! Came in on a weekday for lunch. Pretty busy with the work crowd in, but the food came out fast and was delicious. Had the grilled salmon lunch special + dozen oysters and was satisfied either the quality for the price point. My buddy had the large seafood soup and he enjoyed it. Be sure to look through the pics here before ordering because there aren't any pics on their menu and my buddy was surprised by how big the soup was. Wow, this place has become very expensive. The food is still good, but $20 for a small-ish portion of El Rey ceviche and $18 for a medium size shrimp cocktail is difficult to justify when Aw Shucks is about 40% cheaper and their restaurant is nicer. read more
