The greatest thing about this restaurant is the corn tortillas!! They absolutely melt in your mouth as they are so so soft! Costillas en salsa verde (stewed pork) was mediocre, rice too. I had the Guizo de rez (stewed beef) and it was good. Great portion size! The rice was bland. The guacamole was good. Someone posted that this place was a BEST in Texas! Well, I learned that not everyone's reviews can be trusted. We arrived at 1:55. They first brought the salsa and chips, then drink order. On 4/30/22 came here for my 2nd time. Took my mom & sis for their 1st time. Our Caldo & Menudo were not even Hot!! We just moved to the area and we're trying to find our go to neighborhood Mexican food spot and I'm sad to say we did not find it in Cuquitas. We decided to try it for ourselves after reading the reviews and let me tell you, we will not be making that mistake again. This was the most "meh" Mexican food I have ever had. I have never seen my fiancée refuse to eat meal and he barely touched his lengua. The margaritas were like drinking a chunky slushie and left us wondering if they had forgotten to put the tequila in. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because I seriously love this restaurant. I just wish the salsa were spicier. Other than that, this place is amazing and definitely worth a try. I had lunch today with a party of 20. I always get the chicken mole enchiladas. Apparently I need to try other dishes because everyone else loved their variety of meals. Another thing they loved was an amazing waitress named Rosi. She is probably the best waitress I've seen my entire life. She took on pretty much all the tables by herself quickly, with accuracy and all with a smile on her face. I've never seen anyone like her. I was literally blown away. Came in on a Tuesday around 4:15 pm to have an early dinner. Staff is super friendly and very attentive. I wasn't too crazy for the food. Of course I've had better. Upon a revisit I still like Cuquita's. My only complaint the deshebrada, ground beef red enchilada, flameado cheese with chorizo all tasted very similar. The flauta plate was a welcome change and the next time I need a flauta Cuquita's is my place. The rice and beans are phenomenal! The best rice I have had in Dallas! The corn tortillas were tasty and I would order the flameado, be warned it is a large bowl of queso, but tasty. I just wouldn't pair the deshebrada, chorizo flameado, and ground beef red enchilada again though. As a displaced New Mexican Cuquita's is the closest I have been to home in a dinner in a long time. USA Today lists Cuquita's as one of the best Tex-Mex restaurants in the US. I have to agree. It is kind of a dive but the food is good. I give thumbs up to the corn tortillas, the queso flameado, and the pollo en mole. I will definitely go back and try some of their other items. The only negative I had was that they charge for each soda since it is by the can. This is pretty typical in these small Mexican restaurants. read more

Stopped in because I was craving some caldo de res but unfortunate for me they had run out and did. It have any at 6pm on a Friday evening. Must be a day thing I guess. Great authentic Mexican food! Freshly made Corn tortillas always great ,prompt service. There's always Mexican music playing and a soccer match on the TV. Chips, 2 salsas and fresh corn tortilla to greet you before you order. If your looking for typical Tex Mex this is not your place - go to one of the chain restaurants instead. We were visiting from another state we heard this place was good so we walked in. Food was good, hand made tortillas were thin and just yummy. The problem was we had really bad service from our waitress, from the moment we got there, she was rude, we asked for a side of "grilled peppers" To which replied with a "we charge that extra, and its probably take a long time" Then I asked for a side of green salsa for my flauta order to which she said "we use that salsa for green enchiladas, so if you want some is extra" So the bad service took a lot from the whole food experience, I don't live in the area, we visit every few years and never going back to this place. read more

It used to be really good but multiple times the lengua has been super rough to eat, and the menudo so spicy it's just not good. Really good! They had fresh hot tortillas and tortilla chips and salsa delivered to the table as soon as we sat. Food was not bad but not THE BEST Mexican food I've had. Was definitely the best and MOST AUTHENTIC I've had in north Dallas area however! Will def go again and try something else. The prices were so amazing for the amount of food especially. Margarita was super weak. So don't get that unless u request an extra shot. I asked for a side of guacamole and literally got 1 TINYYYY ICE CREAM SCOOP OF GUAC.
