First timers. Our family loves this place and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband had the Chile Rellenos. He said it was good but different because he normally has the sauce on it and didn't know he had to ask for it. He still really enjoyed them. I had the flautas, very flavorful and the beans were super good. Better than any I've had in California. My cousins had their normal, enchiladas with mole' and a salad. This location is a little divier with a little less personality that its Love Field counterpart, but that didn't take away from the quality of the food. The rice and beans alone are worth the visit, as they are delicious and authentic. The rice is super light and fluffy, reminiscent of my grandmother's. That woman could cook! I had the cheese enchiladas, which were packed with flavor and well-topped with enchilada sauce. My woman had the sour cream chicken enchiladas- and she loved every bite. We also had chiles toreados with our meal, which were no joke. Super spicy but also blistered and cooked to perfection. Don't let the exterior discourage you from entering this place! The food here is some of the best homestyle food I have had in Dallas. Lengua plate is out of this world. Service tends to be quick, courteous. Speaking Spanish helps as some months waitstaff don't speak English but that's also why the place is authentic and busy with Spanish speakers. Ambiance is casual, lots of couple, and families dine here. Can get a little loud but the food is worth it! read more

Something has changed here recently. This was our go-to spot for their guisados. My last few visits were met with slow and unfriendly servers. I ordered the tacos al carbon and they just lazily filled it with beef stew. Not what I ordered. The camarones a la mexicana were very good. I stopped coming here bc they continuously over charge and they wouldn't provide itemized receipts and when I asked they would state it was too late since that already printed it out. I kept giving them several chances until I noticed the quality of food and service declined too much for my tasting. Tipico's is the whole in the wall you can trust. After 15 years of loyal patronage, it has not changed and that's a good thing. Prices are cheap, food is good and service is at its finest. Great Mexican cuisine. Food taste is similar to mom 's cooking. Never disappoints. I dine here with family at least once a month. Prices are reasonable. Menu not as big as some restaurant chains but it offers the basics which I like. Servers are friendly and attentive. One can call in an order for pick up. Place is always busy especially on Sunday mornings for breakfast after 9am. No need to wait for a host/ hostess to lead you to a table. Spanish music plays in the background. I've tried to like this place twice but it was a fail for the 2nd time today. The reason it gets 3 is because The stuffed chili was great on its own. Tried the chili Quiles and we tried the taquitos and we tried the Carnitas. Thw salsa is OK beans and rice just OK as well. read more

This is probably my fifth visit to this restaurant and every time I'm greeted the same way. Like family. Come in and sit yourself, I think that's the most important tip I could give anyone so you don't think the staff is ignoring you. Their dishes taste homemade and will leave you picking up the last bits on your plate with a tortilla. I strongly recommend the menudo or huevos rancheros for breakfast. The review lacks a star due to the run down decor/tables and chairs and overall facility. I'd love to see some love put into this place so it's a little bit more open and brightened up. read more

Soup was delicious and had a lot of meat or belly . Chips and salsa was very good. One salsa is warm(temperature) and the other cool. The warm was better to me but other was fine. I had corn tortillas with my soup and they were so fresh and thick. Service was prompt and friendly. You do seat yourself and went done go to front counter to pay. All tables are numbered so you just let them know your number. I saw plenty of delicious looking dishes and I'm definitely going back. read more

I have tried their nachos a few times and the homemade tortillas. Take out orders come with a side of complimentary chips and mild or hot salsa. I found it. Years of looking for a place like this has come up short. Every "good Mexican" recommendation turns out to be either poorly managed or a Tex-Mex variant. This is the real deal, folks, and it's anything but typical. The menudo was just what the doctor ordered. The meat was perfectly tender with the optimum amount of spicy. My wife got the fajitas that were impeccably prepared with flavorful beef, saute'd veggies, and lovely beans and rice. And their tortillas. Tipico's has perhaps the best tortillas I have ever had, and I eat a lot of Mexican food. Just perfection. Corn or flour, both are bomb diggity and prepared in their scratch kitchen. God is good. Finally a restaurant that delivers not just on taste but on the fine delicacies and tradition of the Mexican heritage. Okay listen, I use to live in the area and would go here at least 3x a month. It was a family fav. I visited last night with my cousins. We sat ourselves & a waitress was prompt to give us the chips & salsa & take our drink orders. She came back and took our food order & was kind. We walked in around 7:20. We watched 3 tables walk in after us & be served their food before us. Around 8:10, I went and asked our waitress where our food was (bc we saw these other tables get their food already & they normally don't take that long!) & she never returned BACK to our table. The waitress acted like she didn't understand me, I asked her where our food was & mentioned the other tables getting their food already. She mumbled something in Spanish & said it was coming. We watched her go to the front & walk back with a ticket, so I'm assuming she forgot to turn our order in. 10 min later, the other waitress brought out my cousins' plates. A few minutes later, mine was brought out. It was delicious. I literally ate EVERYTHING because I loved it. This morning I woke up & my stomach was in KNOTS. i immediately messaged my cousins to see if they were okay & they are. I believe this place put a LAXATIVE in my food because I went and asked where our food was after almost an HOUR!!!!! I've taken a laxative before and it's the same pain. If you going here, be warned.
