This place was expensive! Yes the price of ever has gone way up and this place definitely did not fall behind. The tacos are served on metal the trays open face. They don't stand a chance. By the time we got our salsa and toppings they were all cold. COLD. We got asada, trompo, Al pastor and chicken. Don't judge me on my chicken tacos those were for my kids. The trompo tacos were the only ones that were good. The asada is not a good steak meal cut and the pastor lacked everything pastor. They do have good salsas so if you decided to give this place a try grab all your toppings and salsas and have them ready to go when you get to your table. We assumed that would already be on the plate when we got our food but no. Atmosphere-wise, giving hole in the wall, nothing wrong with that. They had music going and the tv going with a novela at the same time. There's a snack ice cream shop inside the restaurant too over to the side and plenty of tables and booths. read more

Parking available right outside. The store has two sides, one for fruit/ ice cream drinks and the other for tacos. I got the birria tacos. The consommé tasted burnt like it came from burned meat and chef was trying to conserve it. I was not a fan of the self serve condiments and toppings. Anything could be done to it, by anybody... luckily the sauces were bottled so I did try that. They also put cilantro and onion in my container which I noticed once home which was nice, as I didn't want to eat the open toppings at the self serve station. Hopefully, the fruit drinks are better as I would not get the tacos again. Not recommended. Nice people in the establishment tho, very welcoming. read more

This is the definition of a hidden gem. It's tucked away in a little shopping center that is usually packed with people trying to buy some meat at the Hispanic meat market. I lived in Carrollton until I was 26ish and I never once saw this place! There a fruit market called Fruit Net and "next door" is Don Tacos- but there's no wall in between. That's correct- the same place you get your tacos you can stand in a separate line and order elote in a cup (Mexican corn in a cup), different fresh fruit combos or any one of what feels like 10,000 options that add sweet condensed milk, yogurt, nuts and happiness. Little hole in the wall tucked away in Carrollton. I like that it has a fruteria attached to it and they have lots of diff menu options. But I wasn't impressed with the flavor of their meat for the street tacos. Pastor was good, but the trompo was dry and the Lengua was bland. I also thought it was pretty expensive for street tacos $2/each I'm glad they're taking covid precautions - limiting dine in, wearing masks. read more

The service is so great! I love that it's a fruiteria and taco spot all in one. I was in a rush from lunch and ran in here and asked could 3 chicken tacos be done in like 4 minutes.. he had it out in 3! And yes they were bomb! And I love their red sauce which they generously place out so you can help yourself! And I've had their mango chili cup.. This place is legit for all the mexican snacks! if you don't feel like driving, they are on UBER EATS!!!!! I have had their elotes, mangonada, and rusa. Their mangonada is like a popsicle dipped in chamoy served in a plastic cup. It's a small little treat thats refreshing. The rusa needs less cucumber but portion is huge. The drink I had was 90% cucumber. Elotes was also good. I will be back to try other items! read more

Wish I had taken pics but I was doing chonky girl s%*! and was super ready to eat! Now that I've come up for air I can leave an honest review. Absolutely fanfrickintastic! The tacos de birria were better then I could have anticipated. Never had them before and always wanted to try; if this is not top quality I want to know what would be! Delish!!! The gorditas were a perfect pillowness but just firm enough to hold the meat and garnish. The birria sauce was the star of the show; if we could have drank it we would have. About three months ago I became a regular customer of theirs. About 3 times a week I would go in to order the family special 20 tacos for $25. All steak tacos. They were delicious. I was happy we found our taco spot. Then all of a sudden I was told they changed their special. Instead of serving it everyday they now only serve it Tuesday-Thursday after 4pm. OK. Fine. I adjusted. I had also noticed they started cutting corners. The salsa was watery. The quality of the food started suffering. The next time I ordered they said I was only allowed to have the taco special with the variety mix of meats al pastor, chicken, steak, carnitas. I wasn't allowed to have all steak tacos. We don't like the variety of meats only the steak. They refused to sell it to me !!! So now we are forced to find a new taco spot. read more

Came in for the elotes--they were just okay. Less mushy than most--is it too hard to ask for fresh-tasting, fresh-roasted corn in my elotes? :) The draw here appears to be the cold and fruity refreshments. Fruit Net showcased a lot of tasty looking drinks made with fresh fruit. It also surprised me to see Blue Bell ice cream in the frozen case--usually paleteria y neveria make theirs in-house. For 1.50 you can get a street taco...that's pretty good. I'm a fan of lengua/cabeza/chorizo/pastor street tacos... So seeing as I was hungry AF, I ordered 2 of each. I decided to pick them up in store and basically after ordering, my app told me they would be ready to pick up in under 10 min...during lunch rush. Amaze balls. You'll find Don Tacos tucked into a lovely little Mexican hub of businesses surrounding it. A One Stop grocery store, a meat market, a panderia, lavanderia...it's very cute and in its cultural strip mall sorta way. The parking lot is FULL during the lunch rush but lots of movement with cars leaving. So the tacos started off pretty promising. They were all packaged into one to go styrofoam container (I really wish businesses wouldn't use styrofoam). In the corner of the container was a smattering if grilled onions. And I'd asked in my order for grilled jalapeños to be added to each taco. When I got the order, only one grilled Serrano pepper was on the side. So, that was a bummer. They also include a side of cilantro and their mildest tomatillo salsa. Other than that, the tacos themselves are bare. So if you order for delivery...be aware of this. But inside, they have a condiment bar. There, I added cilantro, pickled and raw onions, and got their spiciest salsas, to go. Definitely hit up the condiment bar, or the tacos will not be flavorful enough. The chorizo, and pastor tacos were great. Lots of flavor. The cabeza and lengua tacos felt like the meat just hadn't been seasoned at all. So those, without the condiment bar additions would have been pretty lifeless. I also found a hair in one of my salsas. And I slowly chucked that. Before I left, I walked through the open archway to a store next door that sells ice cream and fruit covered with chamoy and candy, or a mangonada. SO GOOD. I got the mango drink with tamarindo candy straw and layered in chamoy. Freaking amazing. I think I saw tht they have elotes as well. Anyway. I'd recommend a visit to check these guys out. People really seemed to love them who were eating here, and every person who I came in contact with was absolutely lovely. read more

A wonderful discovery for the wife and I. We both had the taco platter which came with 3 tacos, beans, and rice. At first you think, "hmm, typical" but the beans were unlike any other I've had in the past, very tasty, and the rice came in a mound and had a great flavor. The tacos were fajita, had good texture, and were well seasoned, cradled by 2 corn tortillas each. Portions were just right, not too little or too much. Service was excellent as well. This being our first time visiting, the owner was patient and took the time to describe the differences between options. He also gave us a sample of meats to try before placing our order. Stellar customer service. The restaurant area was small, but not cramped, and is attached to a little ice cream shop with what looked like fresh fruit options, but we didn't visit as time was short. The mens restroom could have used some attention, however, and I didn't quite understand the poster of Marilyn Monroe hanging on the wall... idk. Maybe the owner just really likes her. I stopped into Don Tacos because I was craving Tacos and Tacos is always a good option! I read the reviews and I just knew this was going to be my new taco spot. The smell of street tacos will have me running an extra mile on the track. I walked in and I was greeted by a very nice employee, I scanned the menu and then I ordered. I tried the carne asada tacos on corn tortillas and a cheese quesadilla. The tacos are a very reasonable price it was $2.00 each for the carne asada tacos and it was like close to $9.00 for the quesadilla although it didn't have any meat. I was a little bothered by that but I am all in support of local businesses so it was cool. There is a condiments bar with several different salsas ranging from mild to hot. They also have an ice bath full of a variety of sodas in a bottle. Which was awesome because sodas in a bottle are GREAT! I got home and I put my salsa and cilantro on my tacos and was so excited to eat...Well I was disappointed after a few bites. My corn tortillas were on the hard side and the meat was a little bland. I love the salsa although my mouth was burning it was well worth it. I am a little sad because I really wanted to like this cute little place but the tacos just fell flat for me. read more

Well, I must admit that my expectations were very high going into this place, as the share the same shopping center as my favorite Taco place in the world (La Tapatia Meat Market). Well, I won't say it was bad, but truly nothing memorable. Don Tacos must not use the real meat intended for barbacoa, because it tasted much like a plain roast beef..... not great. The atmosphere, while clean, was not impressive to me.... almost chemical if you will. I had some other tacos while there and none really stood out in my opinion. Tacos De Puro Pinche Mentira - First I ordered the trompo tacos... before placing the order I asked the cashier to verify that they were traditional trompo tacos. She insisted they were , so I ordered them. What came to the table was fajita soaked in red food coloring that tasted like water. I let everyone else at the table taste the meat and we all agreed that there was no flavor whatsoever. I kindly asked the cashier if they would just make me new tacos with a different meat because the trompo had no flavor. She let me switch to fajita after a bit of resistance. She returns to the table with one less taco than I ordered. When I asked why she went on to say that because I had taken a bite out of the first taco... one bite... the bite I had to take to realize that the food was unsatisfactory... they couldn't exchange it. Sure ... understandable to a certain degree. Well, the fajita was grey and disgusting. Couldn't stomach it and just took my loss as the manager wanted to take no responsibility. I'm from El Paso, visiting Dallas. I was on a quest for good tacos. This was my third and last night in Dallas. I had yet to find a place that serves al pastor until I found dons tacos.
