Okay listen, I use to live in the area and would go here at least 3x a month. It was a family fav. I visited last night with my cousins. We sat ourselves & a waitress was prompt to give us the chips & salsa & take our drink orders. She came back and took our food order & was kind. We walked in around 7:20. We watched 3 tables walk in after us & be served their food before us. Around 8:10, I went and asked our waitress where our food was (bc we saw these other tables get their food already & they normally don't take that long!) & she never returned BACK to our table. The waitress acted like she didn't understand me, I asked her where our food was & mentioned the other tables getting their food already. She mumbled something in Spanish & said it was coming. We watched her go to the front & walk back with a ticket, so I'm assuming she forgot to turn our order in. 10 min later, the other waitress brought out my cousins' plates. A few minutes later, mine was brought out. It was delicious. I literally ate EVERYTHING because I loved it. This morning I woke up & my stomach was in KNOTS. i immediately messaged my cousins to see if they were okay & they are. I believe this place put a LAXATIVE in my food because I went and asked where our food was after almost an HOUR!!!!! I've taken a laxative before and it's the same pain. If you going here, be warned. Don't complain or ask where your food is after an hour. read more

The restaurant is nice inside and the service is good but the food tasted very bland. I ordered tostadas and my partner ordered enchiladas

This place is authentic and good. You know as soon as you walk in you are in the right place, if you are looking for authentic and tasty. The place is full of Hispanic folks that are certainly Mexican food snobs. The corn tortillas are on the nose. Really good and the way to go. read more

I got the weds special and it was good. Tasted like potroast. Beans and rice good...basic. Cold salsa was pretty good. Warm salsa meh...lacked flavor and heat. Chips thick and I prefer thin. Decent meal special. I'll be back. read more

I always enjoy budget-friendly authentic food and Tipico's delivers both. It's hard to find a "dead" hour because their food is so good that it's always packed! I tried ordering inside for to-go after peak lunch hours but there was still a wait. It was definitely worth waiting in line for fresh chips and enchiladas! Bookmarking this restaurant for when I'm in the area in the future. read more

We've been coming here for years for the best Mexican breakfast/lunch this side of the border. The tortillas are handmade fresh here. The guisado (both green and red) and menudo is our go to. Any of the breakfast tacos are solid here. The employees are hustling at all times and checking to ensure you are taken care of. That's not típico anymore (post Covid) where no one wants to work. If you are craving a homemade family-run mexican meal, just come here. I'd show a pic, but I ate it all. read more

I "ate" here for the 2nd time today but never again. I stood around for several minutes and while a bunch of the workers looked at me, no one said anything. I finally asked a lady bussing tables if I should seat myself and she said yes. Chips were good but the 2 kinds of salsa weren't. One was bland and the other didn't have much flavor other than being hot. I ordered a plate with a cheese enchilada and a soft cheese taco and then I waited about 15 minutes. The cheese enchilada had red sauce instead of chili and the soft cheese taco was a dry tortilla around cold shredded cheese. I explained to the server that I wanted a cheese enchilada with chili and a cheese enchilada with queso so she took it back. Several minutes later I got the same enchilada and a "soft cheese taco" covered in CANNED cheese sauce. The exact same kind they use for nachos at football games. I took 4 bites and pushed my plate away. I told the waitress it was inedible and asked for my check for my drink. They brought me a check for almost $11 for food I couldn't eat because it was awful! I asked why I was being charged for food I couldn't eat and she left. When she came back she said "give me $2." I gave her a $5 and she snatched it and walked off. No apologies and didn't offer change (though I didn't plan on it but the polite thing would've been for her to ask). No reason to give this place another chance. read more

Looking for some good Mexican food and came upon this spot based on Yelp. Walked in on a Sunday morning and place was packed. Got seated right away and served with fresh chips and salsa. Ordered beef enchiladas and a Mexican coke. Was not disappointed. The enchiladas was stuffed with beef. No shortage of packed beef in there. Served with beans and rice. Flavorful and plenty of food. Servers were friendly and fast. Making sure everything was taken cared of. Love finding little gems like this place. read more

MIND BLOWING AMAZING TEX-MEX! Seriously the best Tex-Mex food I have ever had in my life! You know you're in the right spot for Tex-Mex when your table is the only English speaking table in the house. I swear everyone else spoke spanish! You know you're in the right spot for Tex-MEX when you go on a Tuesday during lunch and the place is PACKED! I literally wanted to try everything on the menu but settled for the Chicken Mole. The house salsa and chips were an excellent mouth wetter. The Chicken Mole was amazing. The beans and rice were on point. But the real deal is the tortilla. They make them in house and they are TO DIE FOR! Seriously, Mind Blowing Amazing. I could not get over how fabulous the tortilla are! My next trip back to Dallas MUST include a return trip to Tipicos! read more

This is a straight up Mexican food restaurant. This ain't your typical tex mex joint. Just letting you know so you are not surprised. Chips are thicker than usual and salsa is a bit on the thin side. The refrained beans have a good flavor as does the rice. The beef fajita had no traces of grizzle or extra fat Cheese enchiladas were tasty and they had no problems making requested substitutions. read more

I had such high expectations for this place and let me tell you it is less than sub par. We ordered queso and I SWEAR they poured it straight from a can to a bowl!!! It wasn't warm or anything, like at all. The carnitas were horrible and I'm so sad because it's my favorite meat. Beans were bland, rice was bland, Coca-Cola was flat. Le sigh.... I have NO NICE WORDS TO SAY SO I'LL STOP NOW. Oh btw there was no supervisor or Manager to let know. Ugh. Can I dine and dash?!?! No but if we're to ever do that, it would be to this place read more

The staff had not checked for online orders so when I arrived, it hadn't even been sent to the kitchen. I left and came back. It was ready then. My order was weird, but they gave me extra chips and an extra taco. The Tacos where smaller than I expected because of the price. The food and salsa were good though! read more

This food is so good!! Fresh homemade tortillas. Had Migas and they were yummy. Give it a try!!

No Tex-Mex bullshit here! I was so glad to find this place, I am tired of eating at Tex- Mex places that serves enchiladas with chili con carne and queso (chili & cheese), so not right. They have some tasty menudo, pork con chile verde, and mexican rice. I had some customer talk to me, because he was shock I knew how to eat menudo, I think it was because I am asian. Service is okay, but that's probably because I do not speak spanish, its more like spanglish. They gave us chips & salsa, a standard, the drink cups here a huge. I will definitely go here again. read more

A friend recommended this place to us plus it's not too far from my house, anyways, sooooooo happy that me and my husband tried it! I had the tacos al carbon on flour tortillas mmm mmm mmm delish! So flavorful! I love me some tomatillo sauce and cilantro. I just happened to stick my spoon in my beans to taste them and I immediately fainted from the deliciousness!! The rice was yummy too. My husband had the enchiladas with beef and said they were good but my meal was way better! So I'm giving them a four because of that and they're skimpy on the to go chips and salsa especially for 2 meals. read more

Who knew there was a second location. It seems to have all the consistency as the original. We had a large group and large variety of the menu. The Chile Relleno wasn't bad. It came out dry didn't have anything on top of it. The cheese enchiladas was just ok. The chicken taco I wasn't a fan of. It was just chicken in a tortilla. It was better once I added cilantro and chopped onions that I asked for. It's been a struggle finding really good Mexican food here coming from Southern Cali. Overall it was ok. read more

My review here will be a bit biased simply because my options as a vegetarian were very limited. My family really enjoyed this place. As authentic as my grandmas cooking. Tipico's is a great place to get some delicious breakfast. My go to plate is the chilaquiles. I absolutely love this place. I had to come here two days in a row for breakfast because I was craving it after the first time! When you first walk in, it kind of seems awkward because you don't know if you're supposed to wait for someone to seat you, or if you seat yourself. Judging by the other yelp reviews, we decided to just seat ourselves. It worked perfectly, because a waiter came to deliver chips and salsa, and take our drink order. If you like micheladas, I would recommend getting one here. It was great, and it was much larger than I expected, for $6.00, not bad. I would also recommend the huevo ranchero plate, it comes with two eggs, beans, potatoes, and your choice of tortillas. I would also get a side of rice, it was amazing! read more

Never in my life have I ever had Mexican/Tex-Méx food like this. First off I ordered chicken enchiladas, good thing is that it was fast service. The bad thing is that both my rice and beans had a ball of I don't even know what it was, I think it was both burned rice and beans, then the chicken in the enchiladas, the chicken was I guess was made through vapor, so the chicken was pink, so I ask to exchange my plate because I was already so disgusted. I could not make myself eat it, the cheese slid off the top, and the tortilla wasn't even edible it was so soggy. Then I get my new plate, I ordered was tacos al carbon, with rice and "fries". The meat was drenched in salsa, and the tortillas were so soggy and the tacos were way over filled, it was just disgusting. I usually just use one napkin when I eat but when I ate here I used at least 5 napkins because of how easily the meat would slide out. Do not recommend whatsoever. The only good par was that they changed my plate with no hesitation and they brought the food fast, I will NOT be going back. read more

I forgot to take pictures before I started eating but the food was so good!! This establishment is blatantly racist and disrespectful. First and foremost they don't have consistent pricing. My mom loves the breakfast tacos here, which is really the only reason I even come. I've been charged different prices for the same items more than 5 times. Each time I ask why there is a change in price, I get a different response. Well today was really the worst possible experience I could ever have. I went to get my mom two bacon, egg, potato, and cheese tacos. These bland and small tacos are easily the most expensive tacos in the area, at 4 bucks plus tax each. Their demeanor is disrespectful as hell. So I pay the 9 bucks for the tacos. I get home and there is literally no bacon on my mom tacos, none! I call to let them know the issue and their response is that I would need to return in order for them to resolve the issue. At this point we have already had multiple issues so there was no way we would be returning. I politely asked for a refund and said that I could not return. After several moments a lady came to the fun letting me know that I could not receive a refund due to them not charging for bacon lol. What a lie! The meat portion of the taco and you don't charge for it?! Lol I'm not dumb. So I let her know that I am not about to play games with her and demanded to speak with her superior. She then hung up on me! I call back and they answer, which then I respond saying that they just hung up on me, which leads them to hang up again!!!!!! I call once more and now there is a lady who is unable to speak any English basically talking to me in Spanish about how there is no manager available and how she couldn't understand Spanish. Instead of making a scene and returning and giving them a piece of my mind, I just called my bank and let them know that I did not receive the proper products that I had expected upon purchase. I grew up by the Northwest Highway location and I have never had issues there. Unfortunately the owners of this establishment are bottom feeding peasants who show no proper upbringing and are honestly just shitty people. I will never return here! If you are white or black, I would suggest you go with Hispanic friends so you don't get overcharged. I have had several friends actually pick up orders for me here and have been charged less than what I have been charged. The WORST customer service I have ever had. read more

3.5 stars! Wish we could give halves haha. This is a pretty good place for Mexican food! I'm so over the big chain restaurants and this is definitely better than those. When we walked in, there was no host and no sign that said seat yourself. So we, along with two other customers, stood around for a minute pretty unsure of what to do. Finally another diner told us to seat ourselves. It would be great to have a sign. I would say 50% of the customers that came in after us also looked confused. The front door was a little rough. I couldn't get it open so I had to get my husband to open it for me, which I thought was a little weird.. The cheese enchiladas were great. I thought they came with chili sauce, but it was a ranchero. Which is fine it was good as well. My only complaint with that is the sauce was pretty oily, and I would have preferred chili but again it's not much of a complaint considering I cleared my plate lol. My husband said the breakfast was 4/5 almost perfect, he just wished it had one more egg. When we were done with our food, the waiter made no indication to us that we were supposed to pay up near the bar. We waited for ten minutes before my husband finally asked. Our waiter was nice through out the whole meal, I just wish he would have said something. But now we know for next time. I would give this place a full five stars if there had been a very visible seat yourself sign, not oily ranchero sauce, and had it been clear that we were to pay up front. All things that are easily changeable, so I will definitely be back! read more
