We enjoyed the food and the michelada. We ordered pork alambras, beef and cheese alambras, and an order of guacamole and chips. The chips were served warm. And they brought a condiment caddy with two very spicy salsas, onion, cilantro and lime. Everything tasted authentic and delicious. The portions were generous and the staff was friendly. A pretty good little place to get some street tacos. I ordered a Parrillada Tizon, which has an assortment of street tacos. And of course I had to get a Mexican Coke because they're the best. The meat on the tacos was cooked nicely, though it didn't have much flavor on it's own. The corn tortillas were solid though. The cheese enchilada is one of the best I have had! I would definitely enchiladas next time I come. It was flaky and absolutely delicious. The star of the show was the guacamole! I would say the guacamole here is a contender for the best ever! Definitely put it in all of your tacos when you visit, along with the caramelized onions. I finished up with a flan that was very satisfying. Lovely caramel drizzle and very solid flan. The service was fairly minimal, as they were busy. Environment is loud, but the interior is pretty nice. It's also pricey; dinner and dessert came out to $25. The service and the protein could use some improvement, but overall this is a place I would visit again if I have the cash. read more

Food here is always delicious and definitely hits the spot! Absolutely love there black bean soup it's complimentary with your order. I got the parillada of tizoncito has a variety of there tacos with a cheese quesadilla. They do serve alcohol I enjoy there mango margaritas tajin on the rim man it's so tasty! They are practicing social distancing marking off certain tables but people waiting for tables are allowed to stand around while they wait. Not a bad place and the prices are kind of reasonable for at least the overhead that is burdened and support this business. I can't really say any more in details more than the other 300 reviewers how sad I can only tell you my experience. I drive by here every single day and have always been curious about this place since it is always busy, I finally got to stop by. I walk in and I'm promptly seated towards the wall by the window which allowed me to view the whole restaurant. And Awkward Moment for me a arose when this lady maybe in her twenties came up and greeted me with "Hello young man, what can I get for you today?" Now me being almost 50 years old kind of got mw batting an eyebrow wondering if she was blind or something since my gray hairs were all showing, but it's okay, I guess that's a compliment? My order was taking and a caddy of condiment was placed in front of me along with a small four ounce bowl of black beans. I ordered two beef and two pork tacos which with the condiments or a pretty good combination. Total for four tacos was about $8 and I only had water which tasted like Rusty pipes. I would give the tacos that I had long with presentation at least a four-star with the service being to start since not one time after Deliverance of the food that I get anybody to check up on me to see if I need it my water refilled or at least a needle in my eye. Parking is pretty hard to find during peak hours but probably worth the wait since this place really does get packed As I see when I drive by. I have eaten here so many times and honestly can't believe I've never reviewed El Tiz. Major oversight corrected. When I am in the mood for really good chicken flautas this is my go-to spot! They are a combination of chicken and potato and come three to an order. They arrive dressed in a drizzle of crema, freshly shredded lettuce, cotija cheese crumbles, and avocado slices and they are huge. I can only manage to eat two, but my husband graciously agrees to have the extra one. They are fantastic! Unlike other Mexican food places that greet you with free chips and salsa, El Tiz greets you with a complementary bowl of piping hot black beans along with an assortment of toppings - chopped onions, cilantro, limes, green and orange salsas. All are fresh and delicious, as well as a nice change of pace. It's a smallish restaurant with around twenty tables located in a small strip center, but we have always gotten immediate seating. Great, great place to eat authentic Mexican tacos. The black beans they serve as appetizer are delicious. The prices are actually fair considering the quality of the food. I liked the service a lot. The personnel (mostly ladies) are very kind and usually in a good mood. I tried the parrillada to taste a bit of everything and it did not disappoint. Okay, so this place was pretty awesome. I am not a big expert on Mexican cuisine, but I do love tacos. I only ordered to-go, so I can't comment on the service. I had the gringas: 4 tacos al pastor with a little bit of melted cheese. The pork was juicy and well seasoned, the tortillas were fresh, and the salsas were spicy. Toppings are served on the side. I was super excited to try this place out based on the reviews, but I was left disappointed. I have had way better street tacos at a variety of other places in the DFW area. You get table service here, which is nice compared to other street taco establishments. They give you complimentary black beans to start, which I actually really like considering I'm not big on beans. It melded well when you eat it with the tacos. I got the Guavarita as well as the bistec, pastor, and pollo tacos. The Guavarita was not as strong and more on the sweeter side. For $8, I probably wouldn't get it again. The tacos, while filled with plenty of meat, left me wanting more. The pastor was the best. That one was flavorful and moist. The steak and chicken were sadly overcooked and dried. Pair that with the semi-hard corn tortilla, and you have a pretty dry taco. I probably wouldn't go again just because of the plethora of street taco places I have to choose from. read more

This is a casual sitdown for taqueria items that does better than crap like El Fenix or On the Border, but could still have improvements. Id say if you want something a little fancier than your gas station tacos, this place should do the trick. Horchata - chalky, nice amount of cinnamon. Not super sweet. Big on the rice. Flauntas - nice and crispy. Brisket was kinda clumpy. Toppings were fresh, lettuce was crisp, avocado about right in texture. Great quest fresco. Sopes - same above with toppings. Bistec some pieces were chewy, but most of it was good. Corn bottom was sturdy to not turn soggy, but still was soft. Tacos - they have some super thick corn tortillas. Fellow reviewer Jason L. said "Best D.F. tacos around"; while I'll admit I've probably only been to 8 or 10 places in the Dallas area that serve what I consider to be authentic Mexican tacos, this is definitely the best of them. Having worked in Mexico City (the "D.F." that Jason was referring to) for almost a year, I came to know the local fare well. Our favorite place there was called "El Charco De Las Ranas"; they had their pastor spit right out front by the sidewalk (doubtless a health regulation no-no here), and they'd bring the little tray of 5 "condiments" before the meal (red and green sauces, cilantro, onion and lime). Such was the case here at El Tizoncito; that same little tray came out and I knew this place had promise. Eyeing the pastor spit back in the kitchen, I knew that tacos al pastor had to be part of the meal. However, my eyes were also drawn to something else that took me back to Mexico: "chicharron de queso". A little strange to gringos, it's really only a big puddle of cheese poured onto the griddle until it starts to firm up, then rolled into a loose roll (see my photo). It's crispy like chips, but it's made of cheese. You just gotta try it. Rajas con queso (onions, cheese and mild peppers on flour tortillas) and guacamole impressed mightily; both had great flavor and texture, and the accompanying tortilla chips had that perfectly "toasty" taste that's missing in most such chips these days. While we'd had a pretty big appetizer course, and those tacos al pastor were coming, I couldn't resist trying a torta as well. I chose the "house special", the torta de Tizoncito, with a little bit of everything on it (it seemed). But first, the tacos: Served on proper small, doubled corn tortillas (although not "hecho a mano", or handmade), I was initially slightly wary about the cut and appearance of the pastor meat. It was chopped a little too fine for my taste and didn't seem to have visual evidence of the spices including the characteristic paprika red. However, when I bit in after applying cilantro and onion, it was all there. Perfectly cooked and perfectly spiced meat with just the right amount of "tooth", this was a great taco. I sampled the red and green sauces on the other tacos, and both were delicious. Next, the torta: It was delicious, and aside from the guacamole that suffered a little in my fridge overnight, the other half was delicious the next day as well. Fresh bread, packed with meaty goodness, it was a clear winner. I should have mentioned my bebida at the start; one of my fellow diners chose the michelada, and I followed suit. Made with Pacifico beer, lime juice and Clamato, it was a very refreshing beverage for a hot day, and a great inrto to the meal. Bottom line, this place is really, really good, with a gringo-friendly atmosphere yet dishes that are straight out of Mexico City. Fantastic stuff! read more

You know a place is legit when they don't speak much English! I was definitely in the minority. I ordered the 4 tacos and assumed they would be small, but they were overflowing with meat and so huge! I still ate all of them, obviously...I had the pastor (the best one IMO), bistec, chuleta (pork chops) and pollo. I got them to go and they came with a lovely side of green and red salsa, guac, onions and cilantro. The meat was tender and flavorful and the double corn tortillas held up nicely to all the meat. And the best part was that all of that was only $7.50!!! Such a good bargain. I think they have a couple locations, so definitely seek one out if you are in the Dallas area! read more

This place is good for a "not so American" Mexican restaurant. They serve complimentary black beans when u arrive, that are super flavorful (and hot so be careful lol). I ordered 2 bistec tacos and 2 pastor tacos with pineapple on the side. The meat from the bistec was seasoned great, but the tacos al pastor were wonderful. We always drive pass this place and finally went! They have authentic Mexican food and drinks here. I ordered Flauntas and my husband ordered the pork tacos. Both were incredible!! They have a full bar and some fancy margaritas that I didn't get to try but we will next time. The wait stuff is really fast and friendly. Inside the restaurant was clean but kinda cramped. My family are regulars here. (Even when I'm the family's alcoholic) . So ; last Sunday we decide to get some margaritas, and to celebrate my birthday. The manager Gustabo was very nice and got us a table for 16, thank you for that again. I know the restaurant is pretty small. Our server Carlos Torres was the best ever. Even when we even weren't the smallest table. He did amazing, always checking on us. And the most important part ; he did it with a smile. They went above and beyond. El Tizoncito doesn't bring out the standard chips and salsa (although I'm sure they would if requested) as a starter, they bring you an amazingly flavorful cup of black beans.
