I was surprised to see the place so packed on the 4th of July--apparently nothing says "independence" like Tex-Mex, beer, and possibly the World Cup. I came in mainly to watch the game and have a few beers, but the service was so good you'd think I had ordered the entire menu instead of just casually committing crimes against the free chips and salsa. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made me feel very welcome. We decided to try a local spot, who doesn't like margaritas and Mexican food. Plus they are dog friendly on the patio. The patio had a wonderful view, and nice breezy alley with shade from the Texas sun. Plus we were able to bring our 4 legged son. Who was well behaved under the table. The wait staff is super nice worried about our baby needing water. We had the enchiladas suizas and the fajitas. Everything was delicious, the margarita was as big as I expected it and I loved it hehe. We didn't have space for desert but our four legged son did and he enjoy it to the max. I had such a wonderful experience at this amazing Tex-mex restaurant in the heart of downtown!i stumbled in after attending some events in the city, and in typical Texas fashion, it was blazing hot outside! I figured I would wait out some of the city traffic before calling an Uber home, and stop in for some lunch and a margarita! Now, I ended up ordering their larger size, strawberry marg and OMG! It was so good, and definately strong lol! I only had to order one bc it was definitely a good time! I also ended up ordering their shrimp cocktail as my meal. The portion size was fairly small, however, it is listed as an app and not an entree, so it is as expected. Because I was there solo, I sat at the bar, and the bartender was so lovely and made great conversation! She was also very attentive, and I felt very safe as a independent woman in the city! Great Mexican restaurant in the heart of downtown. It is a fun place to sit with both indoor and outdoor dining, because there are tons of people walking by near the eyeball park. Our server was super friendly and greeted us right away. The chips and salsa are a 10/10. This salsa has a decent kick, and I could drink it plain. We ordered margaritas and they arrived quickly. My wife got the frozen with sangria (strawberry) and it was delicious. My Ocho (version of skinny) was also top-notch. For food, we decided to try both the fajitas and the enchiladas. We were not disappointed. The fajitas were a combo of beef and shrimp, and both were very tender. They come with the typical sides. The enchiladas were some of the best I have had in a long time. We walked in shortly before closing time and we sat at the bar. We quickly ordered the pineapple guacamole and the shrimp tacos with black beans to share as a post concert snack. I don't think I've ever seen pineapple guacamole on a menu and boy am I grateful that we ordered it. I was shocked that despite almost closing, the chips still arrived hot and when we dove into the guacamole, we couldn't stop saying wow. The toasted pepitas were the perfect crunch and light salt to the creamy guacamole with little punches of sweet pineapple. Order this guacamole. You will be so happy you did! The shrimp tacos (2) were also amazing. I couldn't figure out if they had blended mango or just more pineapple into the sauce but the sweetness to the chili was a perfect tasty flavor bomb. The rice and beans that were served with it were not sad at all and also full of flavor. I am so glad I trusted yelp to tell me a place for a post concert snack. Came here for a wonderful meal and sat outside. Kind of a fun area for people watching with your meal. The birds around here are also a ton of fun. We decided to split a couple of entrees (quesadilla and tacos). The food was amazing and our server terrific. Fully loaded and and evenly proportioned made every bite delicious. Good portions and very reasonable prices. We were stuff by the time we left but made a vow to return for dessert because we had to try the deep fried ice cream sundae (yes, it IS that amazing and you should go just for that). We dined in here as Uno Mas is open pretty late. I ordered the queso fundido and the Tejas tacos. Both were excellent; portion size was good, the seasoning and flavors were well done, and the meats were tender. The prices are slightly more expensive than what I'm used to, but Uno Mas is located right in the Giant Eyeball. In hindsight, I didn't feel comfortable where the waiter chose for us to sit. There were a lot of empty tables closer to the main center of the restaurant that were further away from the glass windows. I don't want to say much, but I turned my back to the windows and looked only at my friend and down at the food on the table. read more

This place was close to our hotel and as we were walking to it I saw the cutest rooftop eatery. And it was Uno Mas! Greeted warmly, then seated immediately where we wanted. Such a great view of buildings (I love the varied architecture), the eyeball, park, etc. Chips and salsa served immediately with our drinks. Only one ding for them is that I went to the bathroom at the end (the waitress wasn't close by) and when I returned she thought I had left without paying the bill. Excuuuuuse me?!? Now she said she did have an incident before me, but if she saw me and how I was, I would hope she would NOT think I would leave for a meal that was not that expensive. If she was more keen, she would've known more about me and not made that assumption. The food and drinks however was good. The chips and salsa very good. Salsa great had better chips but overall really good. I had the fajitas with the chimichurri (extra cost) I would pass on that. My drink forgot which one it was but it was delicious! I was visiting Dallas and couldn't decide between tacos or brisket. Luckily, we stumbled upon Uno Mas -- and they had the best of both worlds: a brisket taco. The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly, and the service was fast. The brisket taco was packed with flavor and had a perfect smoky kick. I was in town and craving some Tex Mex, so Yelp pointed me the way to Uno Mas! This place is very cute and everyone here was super friendly, checking in here and there to see how I was doing. It was coincidentally Taco Tuesday, and they had some great deals going on. I ordered a couple of the chicken tacos, which came with a couple of sides ( I got beans and elotes.) The tacos were pretty good, kinda dry but made up for it with the toppings. I LOVED the elotes... so good!! My order came with some free chips and spicy yet delicious salsa. The appetizer guacamole was good, sauce flavorful, and the main course, shrimp fajitas, was to enjoy life (my special request for extra garlic was fulfilled without hesitation). Visiting from out of town, Uno Mas restaurant came across my feed. I saw photos of it right next to a giant eyeball sculpture on the grass next door interestingly enough. The food is pretty good! My husband had the Ranchero Steak and I had the pescado Del Mar and we really enjoyed these entrees. The queso fundido made for a good appetizer as well as the our cocktails. I had a bourbon banana one that was really unique but they're known for their tasty margaritas. Cesar was awesome guiding us with what to order and contributed to the fun atmosphere. It's more street like vibes with neon lights downstairs and more like a white wash wedding venue with pretty windows upstairs. Interesting contrast I must say! We went here with friends after doing some kid events at the park on Main Street. It was only about a five minute walk from the park so it was very convenient. The restaurant's ambiance has more a diner feel than a Mexican restaurant. There was a counter where people were eating. The downstairs dining is not very big, although I think I saw a patio off the main dining. The main dining area was upstairs which has no character at all. We were seated upstairs which is just a big open space with a few tables. No decorations or anything on the walls at all. The room is way too big for the number of tables so it basically turned into a play area for the kids. We started with chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and not greasy. The salsa appeared to be homemade and was a little spicy. Good flavor. A good start. The wife and I started with a Smoky Paloma which is mezcal with some assorted juices. We asked for no ice, which we typically do when we get margaritas at Mesero. We got a half full cup. For $12 we expected more. There was hardly anything in the cup and the wife said it was just juice, she felt nothing. The drinking vessel was cool, but half full? The waiter explained it was because we wanted no ice. Hmmm. Ok then. Not the usual practice but whatever. The wife and I decided to split chicken fajitas. $20. Reasonable. Then the waiter explained that the normal portion is only enough for two tacos and did we want to upgrade to "double" meat for $4 more. As it turned out, the normal portion would have been fine and it was more than two. But it was $4, so I said ok. The fajitas themselves were fine. Nothing terrible but nothing special. What stood out was the extremely small portions of sides. Literally a tablespoon of cheese. Literally two tablespoons of sour cream. I never did get my black beans until I asked. No guac although I thought the menu said there would be guacamole. I could be wrong about that. The next step in the unfolding drama was tortillas. The fajitas come with three to an order. I asked for more. The waiter said we were "allowed" two more for free. The tortillas were street taco size so they were small, thus we needed more. Again, strange, but whatever. The next discussion was over shots. The waiter seemed confused about how much (how many fingers) a shot should be. They have variations; regular shot, shot and a half, and double. I won't bore the reader with the minutiae of the discussion, but I eventually settled on the double for $28. At least I was not charged for limes, but then again maybe I need to check my receipt. We ended with churros, which were fine, but not as good as Mesero. Overall, it was an ok meal. The food was decent but not outstanding. The main reason for 3 stars was the overwhelming feeling of getting nickled and dimed throughout the entire meal, whether it was an uncharge or small portions of something. I probably would not return, since there are lots of other options in downtown Dallas. read more
