Went out to lunch with my intern group for my Birthday! Parking was okay, we parked in a lot across the street but it was a bit crowded. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos which were very tender and came with avocados and a corn salsa. There was also a lime avocado ranch sauce on the side to dip. Pretty large portion I ate one and was already full! It also comes with cilantro like rice which was really flavorful and a jalapeño bean soup which wasn't spicy at all. The service was very fast and our waiter gave us free sopapillas for my birthday! I prefer my sopapillas to be dipped in honey and more cinnamon, but can't complain because it's free! Pulled up to E Bar on a Thursday night around 8:30 PM and while they've got a small parking lot, they only had one spot left and I'd imagine it's pretty challenging to park on a weekend. I'm not a queso connoisseur by any means, but E Bar's is one that lives rent free in my brain. We also grabbed margs for the table and they are very strong. One was enough to get most of us sloshed and even the mango marg tasted like it was pure tequila. Chips were thin and lightly crunchy that just tells you they've gotta be pretty fresh. E Bar Queso (4/5): Just a really nice quality, smooth, salty yellow queso. The ground beef was nicely seasoned and the avocado added a lighter creaminess, but I think just the queso would have been a solid choice as well. Creamy Spinach Queso (4.25/5): I'm usually whatever about creamed spinach, so it really surprised me when I preferred this over the original! We tried E-bar for the first time recently and thought it was a solid tex-mex option in Dallas. Of note, this was a takeout order. We got the chips and queso, beef fajitas, and a cheese enchilada. The queso was a white queso which was delicious and also came with a great red salsa. The fajitas were good, but I have had better beef fajitas and usually like having the bone marrow butter with it. The cheese enchilada was also very delicious and I would order that again. I met with the family here for a meal and it was great. There is a parking lot right across the street to park at for free. They had a table ready for the 5 of us and service was all smiles. It wasn't crowded for an early weekday dinner. Oh how I do love a good Tex-mex meal. I was torn between spinach and mushroom or cheese enchiladas but decided to go with the latter without regret. I had no complaints with the fresh salsa and chips while waiting for the food. The food was ready quickly. Refried beans were on point as well as the rice. The two enchiladas were filled with a nice thick savory cheese. I had one topped with queso and the other with chile con carne. The queso was delightful, but the carne sauce worked better to break up all the cheese. I tried the veggie nachos and they were good as well. The chips were placed individually on the plate and were thick enough to hold up to the weight of the toppings. Went to E bar for my birthday. Julia our server happened to find out it was my birthday. She gifted me perfect service, a drink, and flan with a candle to make wish. She was so sweet. The rest of the staff were friendly. The wife & I agreed the flan was best we ever had. The carne guisada we both had was very tender. Flour tortillas were cut above. Everything else was good. After a decent but not great meal for a party of five, I was surprised when my bill came to me with a 20% tip added in automatically. The waiter made no mention of it but I noticed it. This is what I would have tipped anyway. I gave my credit card for the waiter to process payment and return. When he brought the receipt back to me, there was nothing to indicate the added tip, but there was a blank space for me to add a tip. Fortunately I had seen the tip on the itemized bill (which was not presented when the receipt came back), and I avoided being duped into double tipping. I find this practice to be deceptive. We did have a little bit of a wait, but it was the weekend and at peak time so not to be unexpected. we were able to sit outside in the area with chairs and drink a beer and people watch. We were seated the enclosed patio are which had great air-conditioning and our waitress was Mia . She was a delightful young lady that has an attention for detail and anticipates your needs. Service was immediate as we walked thru the doors. We did not have a lunch reservation but they were able to sit us right away. The staff is knowledgeable and knew the menu quite well. They even made some suggestions and recommendations that we took. The restaurant seems small but it holds several small tables with a large bar area. I've eaten at E-bar over 500 times in the last 7-8 years. I've had them cater my birthday at my house, I've had parties in the restaurant I used to live in East Dallas right next to it. The last 6 mos, it has been insane how expensive it has gotten. A meltdown margarita was $12.25 a few months ago, then $14.25, then $15.25 and now $16.25. I get that food cost is up and traffic is probably down, but this is not helping you. As someone who visits almost every Saturday, I'm going to be slowing down and making alternate decisions. This past Saturday, 2 entrees, 3 margaritas + tip was $130. A frozen margarita with tax and tip should not be $20... E-bar is casual food and $20/ a drink is the cost of a cocktail at the nicest spots in Dallas. I know I'm just one customer, but I'm not going to do it as often. Hope you all reconsider your margarita AND food pricing as I'd love to continue to be a frequent customer, but refused to be gouged. Advertise $10 margaritas and watch how many people flood in. read more

Everything about the EBAR is great. It's worth the journey to get to the destination. That's a great place to go if you're gonna have a meltdown.( which is actually a very strong margarita). The fajitas are phenomenal the enchiladas I've never had anything bad and it's the best text. I've taken friends who no text back that aren't from here and they hands-down think it's great as well. The seat is normal two tops four tops a back bar a front bar and the service is really good. They do get crowded so please be patient with your server the food comes out really fast as well. E bar is a beloved Dallas staple, but I personally cannot say that I am a fan. To begin, it is very disorganized leading to a claustrophobic feeling even if it's not that busy and the chairs are uncomfortable. Upon entering, we were greeted at the host stand with a smile; however, it quickly went down hill from there. Our server didn't come by our table to introduce himself or anything for a solid 10-15 minutes and we considered leaving as we thought they didn't assign a server to us. Once the server came over, he had no waters and didn't give us the time of day to ask any questions about the menu. We ended up only getting drinks and an appetizer and it was clear that the server was upset we weren't ordering anything else. For our order, we got margaritas and the stuffed jalapeños. Both were very standard and nothing special, but for the price, I expected better. They are clearly doing something right as lots of people rave about how great it is, but unfortunately I cannot agree. read more

This spot has really good tex-mex. I usually judge a mexican place by their chicken enchiladas, and these are very good. Simple shredded chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce, rice and beans. I came here on vacation and was having a great time until Matt decided to tell my sister It was a health code violation to not have one sandal on and the other tucked under her set as a patron ,then he continued to violate other health code violations not washing hands after touching public entrance/exit, walking around with both hand in his jean pockets, touching his face and bathroom doors. Also when my sister that goes here regularly, asked for a manger Matt said he was the manager and only washed his hands "to appease us" and for a good review, Matt also threatened to ban us if "anything else like this came up."
