Please don't be fooled by the Google reviews!! This place served me and my family barbecue wrapped with plastic. When I called to ask where the plastic came from that I consumed they said oh we wrap our meat with it to keep it fresh. The Brisket was heated up. So that tells me one thing noone took the time to unwrap the plastic before they reheated this meat. Pure negligence. I knew better!! When you pass by a restraunt multiple times a week and see no cars, there is un fact a reason. Just popped in to grab a few tacos on my way home. Plenty of free parking since most folks seem to like the drive thru. Since there wasn't a line inside, service was quick and very pleasant. The food is good and the prices aren't too bad for BBQ with that said it could have been better. I personally had a chopped beef sandwich even though I ordered a sliced beef sandwich, there was barely any meat on it but it did taste good. My wife had a baked potato with chopped beef which was also good. We also tried the sausage sandwich but that was a bit of a disappointment for my particular taste. Honestly, I probably would have only given them three stars however I was surprised to see all of the employees wearing masks which made me happy as there was a pandemic going on during our visit. All in all, it was a mixed bag experience. The quality and value for your money has really gone down! We have been going to BR for about 4 years now. In the beginning you got a lot for your money. However, that has all really changed. You pay around $70 to get a few ribs with VERY little meat on them and a couple of sides with toast. In the beginning you got meaty ribs with rolls, two sides and a gallon of tea. Now you only get the skimpy meat, with some toast and a couple of sides. We recently started going to Soul Man's BBQ and you get MUCH more for your money and the food is better quality and the cost is MUCH less for more food! read more

We had a great experience Sunday evening. We held our daughter's rehearsal dinner here. The out of town family loved the ambiance. Everyone had plenty to eat. My husband is so disappointed with the Mesquite location. The changes that we were advised of made no sense to us. Ordinarily, he would exchange the texas toast for rolls On our last visit in July, the cashier would not allow the exchange change. To top it all off, when we got home (which is a considerable distance), there was no bread of any kind. We called back to speak with a manager, and we were told the manager was out. We called back and we were told that we could speak with the asst. Manager. We were not able to get the issue resolved. Not at all the service we were accustomed to We still have the old punch cards. That's how long we have been coming to this location. We are angry because no one took the time to try and make us feel better about what had just occurred. I have been frequenting this bakers ribs for about 10-15 years and have always felt they put together an awesome product. I went there today and purchased 1lb of chicken, 1 lb of brisket. The brisket is as good as usual, even tho the price was super high. Y'all have changed ur chicken and the seasoning, and not in a good way. It's dry and tough and it has this sauce that I don't care for. It used to b just smoked tender chicken. I also got baked beans but it was more like a soup with a few beans here and there. Flavor was good though. And last but not least, my favorite thing they serve is an amazing creamy dill potato salad. Well, whoever made it forgot to add seasonings and it was very bland. I will be returning tomorrow and showing them the chicken and bean soup. I'm so so disappointed; it seems like they're skipping some really important basics maybe to save a little bit of money?? I hate that my husband only ate 2 bites before throwing it all away, My beef was also dry, burnt {not in a good way} & not good. This was $24.63. We've been Bake's fans for years. Not wholly the best ribs available in Dallas, but certainly worthy of a visit. However, that being said, we will not be using Baker's in Mesquite again, certainly, or for anything other than a "sometime" visit if no other option is available at their other locations. And that pertains to both Mesquite and SW Highway locations. Certainly the greatest disappointed came from our experience having a 21 lb turkey "smoked" and carved by Baker's in Mesquite. We checked with the manager before bringing our frozen turkey to be smoked. We were informed that, if we brought our turkey in that same day, there was plenty of time to smoke and carve it and that we could pick-up our turkey on the afternoon of the 22nd (one day before Thanksgiving). So we brought our turkey in that same day as requested by the manager. We returned to Baker's to retrieve our turkey on the 22nd. It was ready. We added turkey gravy to the order and paid out charges and left. Having had an incredible smoked turkey done by Baker's off of SW Hwy last year, we were excited that we could have done again by them this year. As a side note: The Baker's off of SW Hwy told us to bring our turkey in 1-2 weeks before we needed to pick it up and when we went there to leave our turkey within their requested time, we were told that they were too busy and could not smoke our turkey. This is why we went to the Baker's in Mesquite. Now to the very disappointing outcome. We got home with turkey and gravy, all nicely packaged, and opened the large aluminum. At first glance, the turkey looked uncooked (it was) but had no signs, either of smell or taste, of being smoked...Just neatly carved. We tested the meat and sure enough...it had barely any smoked flavor at all! We served it up with the gravy and this year's Thanksgiving meal is done. Whether we try Baker's again next...we'll see. But we will let others know of our experience with Baker's in Mesquite. read more

We've been here twice and both times I was surprised that the place was so empty. We were the only people here on a Saturday at lunch time. A couple of people showed up after us, but that was pretty much it. I say surprised, because the food here is great. The portions are generous. We even had enough to bring home for a second meal. The people behind the counter weren't exactly friendly - no greeting until I said hello and asked how their day was going. Not rude, but not friendly. Not a big deal and it certainly didn't negatively impact the meal. We had to make the switch from the Grapevine location, since that place unfortunately burned down. Sooo sooo sooo delicious!!! The pulled pork literally melted in my mouth. The seasoning was just right, not too tangy, not overly sweet...just the right mesquite blend. The sauce not sure if house made or store bought, but it was tasty. The pork is juicy enough that you don't need sauce. The fried okra was not that thick nasty breaded kind, but a nice coating fried lightly and golden brown. The Cole slaw was a perfect match with the pulled pork. Plus a veterans day discount was given today. This is a definite stopping location whenever I come back to visit again. Used to LOVE Baker's, would only go here for barbecue. Apparently COVID has taken a toll on them, because when I got a baked potato with chopped beef, the beef was nothing but waste pieces. In the past, they'd slice off a wedge of brisket and chop that up. But apparently they're only using trash meat as their chopped beef now. There was literally no edible meat there. It was all bark, fat, or connective tissue with pieces of vein in it. Even the potato itself went in the trash because it was full of melted fat Also noted, they switched their smoked sausage to what tastes like only pork now. BAKERS has been our "go to" for BBQ for years. We have never been disappointed, until recently. Recent take out order was subpar for Bakers. The Brisket was cut wrong; cut with the grain not across, leaving us with long strings of brisket. The sausage was major disappointment; tasted just like Eckrich Smoked Sausage you get from the grocery store. Someone just opened the package, warmed it in, sliced and served it. I wanted something BBQ last night and decided to run to Baker's Ribs and I found out they had a special on sloppy Joes! It was a good deal and a good meal! The sloppy Joes at Baker's Ribs aren't anything like the ones we had in school, these are the real deal! Ask for pickles and onions on the side and add them to a sloppy Joe and it's almost like a McRib, but better! Food is pretty good, good flavor, good serving portion, they use real wood for their barbecue. OUr only complaint was the fact the food was not really hot, it was kind of edium warm. The jalapeno cheddar sausage definitely needs to be hotter than it was, otherwise the cheese does not relax fully and have that really warm gooey texture yep more of a semi-solid powder texture I guess it's the way to describe it. Brisket and pulled pork or a very good, good flavor not overdone, so Kudos there. The mac and cheese was a little watery but still good, baked beans were really good, coleslaw could have used a bit more creaminess to it but it was still flavorful in the loaded mashed potatoes could have been hotter. My wife had the peach cobbler, very good not extremely sweet like most people mistakenly make it. But it's definitely not Bland. The peach cobbler does have this almost Floral flavor that hits the of the tongue and you can smell it, it's reminiscent of vanilla and saffron. But I highly doubt saffron is one of the ingredients given that it can be expensive, lol. read more
