I worked at Captain D's for years, and they could definitely learn a few things from Velvet Taco. The fish was perfectly crunchy, the ingredients were fresh, and they even included actual crunchy potato chips. My husband ordered the salmon taco and said it was absolutely delicious. He enjoyed it so much that he went back and ordered a second taco, the Pork Al Pastor, and loved that one too! When he told Gustavo how great everything was, Gustavo said, "You can always leave us a review." I was already planning to! To top it all off, we celebrated my husband's birthday with a delicious slice of red velvet cake. By far one of the best places to get fresh, flavorful tacos in Rockwall. And definitely no toast. I used those little dinner roll ends to soak up some of the cup of butter it was swimming in but they made no difference.This was just lazy. I ate the overcooked shrimp because I could pull it out of its grease bath, but the rest could not be rescued from the oil spill. I would have tried if the clipped ends of the dinner roll had been toasted. The rice was a goner before I could attempt a save. A cup of melted butter is NOT a sauce, Ciro's! Do better.
