Met up with some friends for dinner here since one of them recommended it. I got a fried catfish and shrimp basket that came with hush puppies and fries. I also ordered a drink and got to try some fried calamari that my friend ordered. The drink price was a little steep just for the drink I wanted at the soda fountain to not be carbonated at all, I had to try another one. The batter on the calamari was meh and the calamari itself was chewy. My fried catfish was fine, it's not too bad if you dip it in the tartar sauce. The fried shrimp batter console been better. First time here and the food was impeccable. The fella that took our order was accommodating to dietary needs, which is always a nice thing. It was a beautiful day to sit outside. The place is packed. So why did I not give 5 stars... well, this may just a ME thing, so hear me out, please. I believe in tipping well for delivery or service and the tip is based on the service. (as it should be). You pay at the bar at the time of ordering and a tip is requested. But your drink is self service, your refills are self service, no one checks on you and if you need something you get up and ask. The only "service" per se, is that they deliver your food to you. Unfortunately, the food weren't so good today and the lady wanted to charge my husband $5 for the big to go cup. I usually order medium spicy shrimp cocktail, but there weren't that much shrimp in there and my Tuna steak was way over well done(I didn't tell them how I wanted to be cooked)and there weren't that much vegetables and rice. Most of all, we didn't feel very welcome. I did tip the lady, but we feel that it will be a long time before we come here again. I went to this location twice in the past 2weeks for Crawfish. This is an order at the counter and find a table kinda place. Crawfish are good size but I would say not a Cajun flavor but more of a 'Mexican' flavor. I got spicy both times and they weren't super spicy. Service was fast both trips. My only issue is their soda machine has been down both times. I was They have to coordinate with the CO2 man and City of McKinney. This is a great place to go for fish, drinks and even dessert! My frozen strawberry margarita was perfect, maybe the best one I've ever had. The fried catfish, shrimp and fries came out piping hot and had a great flavor. They even had their version of key lime pie which is different (the pie was neon green!) but delicious! I hate to leave a bad review because me and my husband love Fish N Tails, this location as well as the Lewisville location. (We like Lewisville location a lot more) But....we only ordered 2lbs of crawfish and about half of it was inedible. If you love crawfish like I do, you know what to watch out for and when they are squishy without even squeezing them that hard, you know they were either bad or dead before boiling. And there was a crawfish in there that looked like it had been chewed up and spit out already....... We understand that it is the start of the season but we went to the Lewisville location this past Sunday and had no issues, yes there were some smaller crawfish in there but only a handful, not half of our order like this. And not to mention this is the first time in the past decade I have ordered/eaten crawfish, where I have had to throw out half my order. Went to listen to the live band on Saturday nights-and surprised by the great food. I enjoyed the grilled mahi-mahi served with a coconut-mango sauce-it was delicious. My friend's enjoyed the fried catfish, grilled salmon, chicken tenders and fish combo, grilled salmon Caesar salad, and gumbo soup. Everyone enjoyed all their meals and we cannot wait to go back and hear our favorite live band and eat some good food. Tortilla chips were home made with quite the assortment of hot sauces. The bar serves a variety of beers and staff was great at bringing our meals to table in a reasonable amount of time. You have to line up to order your food-server's do not come to table-and pay for your order at time if ordering (cuts down on theft) order and pay for your drinks and tip the busser's for cleaning up your plates and bringing you more chips. Parking is crowded so, valet is highly recommended since not much room. It's free and you just tip valet. We will be back for the Halloween party, live music, and fun. read more

Wow! We had a great time here for an early dinner the other day. The seafood is super fish and super delicious. We ordered a lot. We purchased Grilled crab cake, dozen oysters, ceviche, catfish nuggets, shrimp cocktail and two lbs of crawfish. Everything was delicious. My two favorite foods that really stand out to me was the grilled crab cake. Man did that have a great flavor. On top of that it wasn't overly breaddy, which can happen at times with crab cakes. Thank goodness that didn't happen here. My other favorite was the crawfish. They boil the differently from what I'm used to from New Orleans style. They boil theirs with garlic, jalapeños, butter and some other spices. At least from what I could tell. It was really great, and left a zing in your mouth that was fun.
