I was just telling the waitress I was hoping for crawfish when the manager strolled by and said, "We've only got 2 lbs left." Without missing a beat: "Those must be mine." And wow--what a score. When you dine at Anaya's my recommendation is to check the menu on a blackboard that covers one entire wall. Some items on that blackboard are not listed on the printed menu. And for myself personally I picked the wrong Wednesday to stop in for lunch. There was no ravioli at all. And the chocolate cake that's looking so delicious in Yelp photos for this location, not available either. I selected the Herb-Pecan Crusted Haddock served with sweet potatoes and seasoned vegetables. My discovery was that haddock and cod look and taste exactly the same to me. My wife and I stopped by here during a date day for a drink and appetizer. We sat at the bar and I ordered a spicy mezcal margarita it was delicious! My wife ordered a blackberry French 75 and really enjoyed it. We ordered the calamari, it was piping hot, fresh and had both the rings and tentacles. Also had banana peppers. It came with a lemon dill aioli and a sweet thai chili sauce. I loved the calamari with aioli and my wife loved the Thai sauce. The portion of calamari was great! Would definitely recommend this for everyone. The manager came over and gave us free tasting of 4 different soup. They were all tasty but my favorite was the roasted poblano creamy soup. This was my first time to this location and it did not disappoint. The food is simply fresh and delicious. Met some friends for lunch and had the shrimp nachos but with the dynamite shrimp. The chips are amazing and hold up well without getting soggy. The toppings are perfect which include cheese, beans, pico de gallo, avocado and sour cream. You have the option of grilled, blackened or the dynamite shrimp! It's just a fantastic dish. Our server was amazing and checked on us frequently. Went to Anaya's by my office for a quick bite. I was tempted to get the crawfish as they are in season but got the Bourbon Street Redfish instead which was tasty. It was served on top of a nice fresh hunk of cornbread that soaked up the gumbo nicely. They heard it was my first time visiting and brought me a sample of four of their soups which was a nice touch. I think the only thing i liked was my Mexican martini and the free sampler soups at the beginning. Sometimes I do realize going an hour before they close brings the lesser service/experience, but two things stick out. One my fiancé is allergic to shellfish and we made it clear to put the shrimp that was on the special dish off on the side (plate) , but it still came with the shrimp on top so the order had to be redone. Anaya's is a staple for my family. The restaurant is always clean and busy. The staff is always helpful, friendly, and informative. They go out of their way to make sure that you're happy with your meal. I've tried several of their dishes and never been disappointed. My favorite appetizers are the calamari and firecracker shrimp. Well seasoned, fresh, cooked perfectly. I also order the seafood trio . I like the fish blackened, but alternately order the trio fried. We came here for the first time on 01.12.24 for a very late lunch after a long Super Bowl evening. The staff greeted us warmly and we took in the surroundings. Cajun/Creole as well as Mexican-style seafood as well as Southern-style seafood while Latino music is playing - we're in. We started with the Happy Hour chargrilled oysters, which were insanely delicious. They came out super hot and super tasty. My woman opted for the Dynamite Shrimp Tacos, which she raved about. The portion size was perfect for lunch. I had the large Mexican Shrimp Cocktail, which was prepared tableside. The cocktail was made with house made seasonings, tequila, a house made tomato sauce infused with Jarritos soda (amazing), avocado, cilantro, and crab meat. Oh, and the shrimp were huge! Well, I ordered our crab bisque before Dave our waiter brought out the awesome soup flight for each of us. The flight included samplings of the crab bisque, shrimp gumbo, cream of poblano and New England clam chowder. I ran Dave down and said, "Can I please change our soup orders?" We ended up ordering the New England clam chowder and the Cream of Poblano soup. Now the gumbo and bisque were still mighty fine; but after tasting the other two, I knew we needed to get those. I believe we could have licked the bowls clean of those flavorful, HOMEMADE, creamy soups. I love the fusion of the Mexican style mixed with some southern riffs along with delightful Cajun and Creole flavors. It may sound all over the place but all of the seafood is delicious and this family-owned business pulls this off well! The big star of our small meal was the Oysters Rockefeller. Oh my goodness, were those gulf oysters ever so plump and delish with all of the extra toppings that were piled on. Wow! Those beautiful jewels were still bubbling when they arrived at our table. You would not NEED crackers with the oysters but we still devoured them, of course! We stopped in around 11:30 on a week day and it was a light crowd, but I think most everyone there were REGULARs and greetings between the staff and customers were very congenial! 1/25/2025 First time visiting Anaya's and I was very pleased! I started with pineapple Agua Freacas w/ free refills (4.95) and for an appetizer I had a cup of the gumbo ($5.95). The gumbo was very good with shrimp and chicken and okra but the serving size left a little something to be desired. For my main course I had a the fried oyster po boy. The oyster were perfectly and were very tasty, the French bread it was served on was mediocre at best and I would prefer shedded lettuce instead of the leaf lettuce it was served with.
