What a lovely dinner we had here at Harissa. Had seen it on social media thought it was new, but turns out it's been open for several months now. Tried it for my dad's bday/Father's Day dinner and we all were impressed. The ambience is nice and spacious and is good for a group or date night. Our server Oscar was amazing! He answered all of our questions about the menu and food options, was very attentive throughout the evening and just made it an enjoyable experience. For drinks, I just had some wine but my mom had the Spicy Moroccan cocktail which she really enjoyed. It was just the right amount of sweet and spicy balance. For food, we weren't super hungry and also wanted to share a few different things, so we ordered the Harissa Trip which came with 3 different kabobs, and the Stonefire Saji chicken. It was actually quite good portions of food if you're not a big eater, definitely was enough to share and take some home. They gave this amazing pita bread to start with a garlic butter that is SO good. It was so smooth and delicious, don't know how to describe it. We loved it. The meat was tender and flavorful. I will say that the chicken Saji was a bit dry in our opinion, so it wasn't the favorite of the dishes, although the sauce on it was nice the chicken was just dried out. The owner was so sweet she came over and told us a bit about her and her husband's story of the restaurant and also brought us some Turkish tea and baklava on the house. We just had the most pleasant evening and I will definitely keep them in mind for future dinners. Definitely worth checking them out if you like Mediterranean food. read more

We came here for my niece's birthday and overall it was a good experience but there were a few incidents that take this place out of a four or even five star rating. When I arrived I was impressed. The ambiance is very nice and has all the looks and thrills of a 5-star kind of place. The food was pretty tasty as well, bordering on the 4+ to 5-star zone. What lacked was the service. For example, they completely forgot my nephew's entree. There was not even an acknowledgment that they had forgotten it and then when we called the server back to the table he acted "surprised" we had not gotten it and yet still did not apologize. When we finally got his food, once again, no apology. When we got the check, no apology either. Our water glasses ran on the empty side most of the meal as well, in fact at one point one of our party got up to get the pitcher herself and at that point another waiter jumped in and started refilling our glasses until our waiter saw it and came back and took over the task for the waiter who was covering. I was with a coworker who prefers healthier options, so we were looking for Mediterranean or a good salad spot. I found this place nearby with strong Yelp reviews and great-looking photos, so we decided to try it for lunch. I expected a casual, fast-style Mediterranean grill, but it turned out to be a more upscale restaurant in a strip mall. The space was really beautiful décor, greenery, and a nice atmosphere. We were seated and given both lunch and dinner menus since it was around 2 PM. I started with an iced tea that had a subtle fruity flavor--really refreshing. We ordered hummus, which came with a fresh, house-made garlic pita. The garlic wasn't overpowering, just a light hint, and it paired perfectly with the hummus. The hummus itself was smooth, creamy, and generously portioned. We originally wanted kebabs, but the lunch menu was mostly sandwiches. Since we weren't in the mood for that, we ordered kebabs from the dinner menu. I chose one of the chicken options (there was also a more lemon-forward version). When the food came out, it was honestly some of the most beautifully plated food I've seen--very intentional and almost magazine-worthy. Everything tasted just as good as it looked. The rice was perfectly cooked with a light seasoning and topped with nuts. The chicken kebab was flavorful, with carrots in between that added a nice fresh crunch. The grilled vegetables on the side were lightly seasoned and cooked just right. It didn't come with a sauce like you might get at a fast-casual Mediterranean spot, but since we had hummus, I used that and it worked really well. The portion was large (more of a dinner size), so I took some home, and it was still fresh and delicious later. The only thing I'd suggest is adding a lunch-sized kebab option, sometimes you just want something lighter instead of a sandwich. My coworker ordered the chicken as well but swapped the rice for a salad and really enjoyed it. Overall, this was a great find. Beautiful space, excellent food, and we'd definitely come back. FOOD: I ordered the lamb chop entree with rice and grilled vegetables. $42 for 3 chops, pounded, but cooked to medium rare and the flavor was good, but not great. IMO, this was overpriced. ATMOSPHERE: The space is tastefully done, mainly catering to an upscale or date night vibe. I would not bring all my grandchildren here though. SERVICE: Our server was attentive; however, never told us his name (my pet peeve) and I hate flagging wait staff with a wave or saying hey you! I don't write a ton of reviews, but my wife and I visited Harissa Mediterranean for the first time and the atmosphere is nice, the service is great, and the food is excellent. My wife wouldn't consider this "authentic" but more of an elevated Mediterranean. Our waitress was very accommodating and the fresh baked bread with Baba Ganoush is very good. They also have a thick garlic creamy sauce for the bread that is awesome. The Beef Shish was good and the rice was very good. Exceptional food, ambience, and waitstaff. Shane was our waiter and recommended some excellent meals. We started off with the fried feta, and dolmas. Feta was amazing and prepared with right amount of honey and delightful crispy texture. Dolma was the best I've eaten in Texas-I've had many and this was by far tops. My Entree was unique with a fusion of Greek/Mexican that was tasty and culinary art at its best. Food came out fresh and fast. We ordered the peaches to-go and enjoyed this delicious treat at home with some Malta coffee. Overall food and service are excellent and we can't wait to go back and enjoy some more delicious entrees. Shane was knowledgeable of menu items and made great recommendations. I have visited Harissa Mediterranean in Frisco twice. My first experience was quite positive--the food and service were both enjoyable, which motivated me to return on Father's Day weekend. During my second visit, the experience was noticeably different. Our waiter was friendly and courteous, but it appeared that he was responsible for too many tables, both indoors and outdoors, making it difficult for him to provide attentive service. To his credit, the staff worked well together and were supportive of one another, which I appreciated. As for the food, I found it to be more focused on grilled dishes rather than what I would consider authentic Turkish or Mediterranean cuisine. I ordered the beyti Roll, which consisted of a single ground beef skewer wrapped in flatbread with no toppings At $27, I did not feel the portion size or overall value justified the price. The calamari was small pieces and not tasty at all. Additionally, the accompanying sauces lacked the bold flavors I was expecting. While the restaurant has some strengths, particularly its friendly staff, ambiane, teamwork, my second visit did not meet the expectations set by my first experience. What a great addition to Plano dining. Harissa is upscale yet relaxed, fine dining with a homemade personality. Large relaxing patio outside and comfortable seating inside. Great bar as well. I visited on a Monday evening with my date. She lives nearby but hadn't been yet, so it was fun to explore the menu together. We started with the Grilled Halloumi: warm cheese and grilled peaches drizzled with honey. A fantastic beginning. My companion ordered the Shrimp Kabob, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. I chose the Adana Kabob--ground beef with red pepper, onion, and Turkish spices, served with rice and vegetables. The smoky flavor from their grill really stood out. We stopped by Harissa Mediterranean in Plano for their grand opening and were blown away from the moment we walked in. The service was excellent--genuinely friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They started us with hot, fresh bread that paired perfectly with both the garlic sauce and their delicious hummus. Honestly one of the best openings to a meal we've had in a while. For mains, Liz had the Adana Kebab while I went with the beef kebab cooked medium rare. The quality of the meat was outstanding--this wasn't your typical choice or select cut; it tasted much closer to USDA prime. Tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly right at medium rare. This place is one of the newest restaurants in the Lakeside Plano area, and is a neighborhood gem of a place, with class & style, along with some great food and service. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of great items from which to choose on the menu. The grilled peaches with honey and cheese, the hummus & beef, and the calamari are all excellent. They have several pretty original sauces and dips that are quite creative. Also, their pita bread is the best that we have ever had, and is served fresh, piping-hot, and inflated to where it is like a ball - pretty original and the flavor is incredible. After talking to the founder the village in turkey he and his sister are from is just 30 miles outside of adana turkey where I lived when I was assigned there for the Air Force The ambiance is slightly upscale yet you will feel comfortable in a clean and fresh pair of jeans. Booths and chairs are overstuffed and very comfortable. The staff. Oh my. The staff. Just impeccable. They know their product and can convey what each item is so that anyone knows what they are ordering. The breads are fresh and hot when they arrive at the table. We had the appetizer sampler and it was to die for The beef and chicken kabobs were phenomenal. So tender and tasty Definitely a must try. We tried Harissa Mediterranean for the first time last night. We had noticed the new restaurant when driving by and so checked out the menu online. Since there is no shortage of Mediterranean restaurants in town, we were looking for some menu options that vary from all the others and we found that in Harissa's menu, and so decided to drop by. We were immediately greeted by Rifat, who was all smiles and warmth welcoming us in like we were old friends. He took care of is throughout the evening and was very attentive without being overbearing. We were there early in the evening and were seated right away. We started with a couple of appetizers: the Grilled Haloumi with grilled peaches and cheese drizzled with honey, and the Fried Feta with sesame seeds and also drizzled with honey. These were both good but almost paled in comparison to the complimentary pita with garlic spread and salsa! These small pita pockets were amazingly crisp on the outside without being dry and were so delicious! My husband had the cucumber sparkler to drink and enjoyed that very much. For dinner we ordered Adana Kabob and Deboned Chicken, both were excellent and the accompanying sides (rice with the kabob and potatoes with the chicken) were generous and delicious, as were the charred vegetables! We shared both entrees and still ended up taking half of them home. Pricing here is in line with other fine dining but not terribly expensive, and well worth it for the quality of the food. I am visiting the Dallas area this week on business and came across this little gem tonight. I understand this is a fairly new restaurant, so I am glad that I discovered it. I lived in the Middle East for a while almost 10 years ago and have missed good, Mediterranean food. The food was very flavorful. It took me back to my fond, Middle Eastern memories. I ordered a couple of meals so I would have food to go. I also ordered the appetizer sampler. The server was very attentive. It has a nice atmosphere and the prices are 'very' reasonable considering the high quality of their food.
